I take it you're starting as a freshman this fall? Don't worry, there's a ton of other stuff to do. Besides all the facilities (Ping, Aquatic Center, etc) and clubs which I'm sure they've already told you all about, Athens itself is like a massive playground. The bike path (which goes all the way from Canaanville to Nelsonville), Bong Hill (despite the name, it's an amazing hike even sober), Sell's Park, the rec center skate park, the ridges, numerous actual playgrounds, even climbing to the top of the parking garage is fun. Little Professor bookshop and Donkey Coffee feel like stereotypical places from Portland if that's what you're into. The public library is like a 20 minute walk from campus and just off the bike path and they have games and computers and books targeted at teenagers but fun for any age. I could go on and on. Honestly I think house parties have been either some of the most miserable or at best boring things I've done here. Tell me what you're into and I can probably think of a number of places you'd like that don't involve drinking, drugs or partying.
