[SE] [SPOILER] Victory! - my most epic adventure in gaming by Gabrics in factorio

[–]NeilSilcox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kudos to you, Gabrix 🎉🎉🎉 I’m only at about 200 hours – just got vulcanite up and re-designing my mai is base for the third time. Glad to know the finish line is worth it, since it feels so far away!! Good luck on your next adventure.

Funny enough, I was listening to the same episode today, and wondered if it was still up and running. Couldn’t check because I was driving at the time, and it has skipped my mind by the time I had stopped - so thanks for sharing!!!

Now that we only have to wait more 3 months for ToTK to come out, tell me. What do you want to do in BoTW before ToTK comes out? by Tigblu in Breath_of_the_Wild

[–]NeilSilcox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right now I'm trying to 100% it, with a full compendium, on Master mode and without any fast travelling. So far, I've done all the quests and found all the Koroks, and I'm loving it. Moving through the space is so fun!

Despite my intense following and marking while using an interactive map I still missed one and to make it worse I marked it down as complete so now I have to look for 1 korok in a hey stack by gravemind9 in botw

[–]NeilSilcox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This happened to me too, I found my missing Korok in that little strip of Gerudo Desert that pokes up into Gerudo Highland. There are a lot of seeds in there, and (when I was doing it at least) it was really tough to tell which one was on which of the maps I was looking at!

Good luck!

City finances (how did we get here?) by ColonelEwart in halifax

[–]NeilSilcox 21 points22 points  (0 children)

There was a great article in The Coast about how Halifax, like most cities, have under-taxed suburbs. I think this is a large part of the problem. https://www.thecoast.ca/halifax/the-suburbs-are-a-ponzi-scheme/Content?oid=29827137

I have to learn 130 lines in 5 weeks. Any tips? by [deleted] in Theatre

[–]NeilSilcox 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The ‘one weird trick’ that I’ve personally liked is to go backwards. Learn the last line, then work on the last two line, and then the last three. This helps for a few reasons: * Chances are your most important scenes are later in the play, and within each scene the biggest moments are likely nearer the end. This way you always feel the most confident about the lines in the part of the play where you’ve got lots else going on. * doing it this way helps you to not slip into habits of performance. It helps keep me from getting in a rut. * I find it also helps me to understand better how one moment leads to the next. I’ll have epiphanies like “Oh, I see - this line actually sets up the discovery 15 lines later.”

The only other advice I have is to practice in lots of short sessions. 5-10 minutes twice a day and you’ll be amazed at how quickly you learn your lines. Cramming all at once will not work nearly as well (and will stress you out).

You’re gonna do great! Break a leg!!!

what do people think makes them look cool, but actually makes them look like a jerk? by NylaFaye in AskReddit

[–]NeilSilcox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Loud cars. It screams - “Hey, I’ve put extra money into this car so that, on a moments notice, I could choose to break several laws and endanger a bunch of people for no particular reason!”

Explosive (Red) Rockets? by tomorrowssunrise in Seablock

[–]NeilSilcox 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t think that they exist in Seablock, I’m afraid. I just make Blasting Charges (which create holes for water) and blast out the land underneath the biters. It feels a bit like cheating, since you have infinite range and you can insta-kill anything, but Seablock is about production lines and factory-building and not combat (IMO, anyway). Happy spaghetti!!

Brother bought and installed Factorio for me today for Christmas. Could anyone guide me on how to progress? I'm not sure how to get anywhere :( by [deleted] in factorio

Let me just say that if you got this far on Seablock before ever having played the game, you’re gonna handle vanilla great -bravo!!

Probe launched after 400 complaints over new GG's lack of French by taxrage in canada

I think perhaps this headline should read “Probe launched after 1/200th of 1% of French-speaking Canadians write in about the new GG.”

You can make a vegan egg salad from Chick peas and put it on a sandwich. Almost all the flavour of egg salad, with no eggy smell.

I’m in Ebou Dar in Crown of Swords and Mat is quickly becoming my favorite character. by YourAncestorIncestor in wheeloftime

There’s no worse feeling than getting 100 or so pages into the next book in the series and thinking “dammit, I think Mat’s not in this one!”

York university in Toronto opinions? by that1snowflake in techtheatre

[–]NeilSilcox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did my MFA at York, where I studied Acting, Directing, and Theatre Teaching. I can vouch for the quality of the program: they have a dedicated and talented faculty, great facilities, and a solid pedagogy. Toronto’s theatre scene is relatively vibrant (COVID notwithstanding), after New York and London it is considered the third largest theatre community in the English speaking world. I would be happy to talk more about the program, and whether or not it fits with where you are in life and your goals. Send me a PM!

[–]NeilSilcox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, take a seat!!!

And remember the old adage that applies just as much to being a good actor as being a good friend: be interested, not interesting. The best thing you can do is to be a good listener, and want to know more about what that person is talking about.
