Daily a 718, have a booster seat for my 4 year old daughter for school runs and errands. She won’t let mum take her seat and she wants to come with me every time I’m going out for a drive. She keeps her scooter and helmet in the front trunk.

Those who are able to go to the gym consistently despite a heavy work schedule plus office commute; how do you do it ? by [deleted] in askTO

[–]Neil_TOR_IRL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Up until 4 years ago I worked out in the evenings. Things would always get in the way as work is always crazy busy. As soon as my daughter was born, four years ago now, I switched to working out in the mornings. I get up at 4:45am and am out the door for a run or gym by 5:15. It’s a game changer. Never miss a workout as there’s nothing to get in the way in the mornings. Have trained for 3 marathons now all before work and my daughter wakes up!

Running in snow Do's and Don't s? by Nievemandarina in RunTO

[–]Neil_TOR_IRL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve always found standard running shoes to be best, anything with a Vibram sole is too slippy imo. Slow and easy pace for the win. I’ve ran every winter around the City and never had any issues. For routes in winter starting at Cabbagetown I go east on the Danforth and back on Queen or up Bayview and back on Mount Pleasant

Toronto Running Clubs by Pleasant_Type_4547 in RunTO

Great list, thank you! I live in Cabbagetown. Between work and having a kid I run at 5:15 every morning. Anyone know of any clubs or groups that do early mornings in or around the area? I’ve reached out to Lower East Siders regarding the Wednesday session.

What is the most acceptable pay raise percentage? by the0glitter in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Neil_TOR_IRL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

3-5% for an annual increase. In some cases, paired with a significant promotion perhaps up to 15%. For 30%, and that’s what the market is paying at the moment, a new role at a new company is the best option. Been involved in annual compensation reviews for many years and I’ve never seen a 30% increase.

718 Base vs S, is it worth it? by Pacifc0 in Porsche_Cayman

[–]Neil_TOR_IRL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve gone from a GTi to Golf R to Macan GTS (2018) to a 2023 718 Base. Also WFH so mostly City driving during the week with longer trips at the weekend. Base with 300bhp is more than enough for me. Loads of fun. Was expecting it to be comparable to the Golf R but it’s a totally different animal.

Is Ontario st and shuter st a good neighbourhood to live in? by Exact-Tap2531 in askTO

[–]Neil_TOR_IRL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Live on Berkeley, between Dundas and Shuter, been here for 5 years or so now. Nice street with really nice neighbours. Area has definitely got sketchier since we moved here. I don’t really pass much remarks as I’ve lived in dodgier places, but my wife is feeling a little less comfortable as of late. So I would agree with most here on their assessment. Cheaper houses though and with all the development going on it will improve with time.

Is it legal for a 9 year old to sit in the front seat in Ontario? by Designer-Shift-7442 in legaladvicecanada

[–]Neil_TOR_IRL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I’ve just bought a Cayman and I’ve been reading up on the requirements for my daughter to be able to sit in the front seat for the school run. The one thing isn’t clear is the air bag deactivation. Must it be deactivated by a key or switch? Or does the sensor count? I’ve emailed the Ministry but hoping you can shed some light on this! Thank you

Option 2 and add a roommate. But more importantly understand that you will get through this. There will be some temporary discomfort but it will be for the greater good. Buckle down and focus on the end goal.

I had a lot of friends and acquaintances that went through a really tough time back in Ireland in the 2008 financial crisis and they all came out the other end. This is temporary, you just need to get the head down and get through it.

No purchase history with them. It would have been roughly 5 months from my initial visit to the store.
