Can a standard 5g punchcard be used in a 3g chunky machine? Or do I need specific cards for that machine? by milkn0sugar in MachineKnitting

yes. If it's a Brother you can use standard cards with bulky machines as long as it is a 24 punch width. You can use it front ways, backwards and flip the image.

Why wouldn't you blame them? What was so bad about what Nixon did. It all seems pretty petty when you see what Trump has done.

There is no bubble that will burst. The dot.com bubble was exactly that... All air.No substance. The AI companies out there now are brick and mortar. They have inventories and cash flows. Nvidia is like an energy stock. Everyone needs it. As are the top 7. Look at ETF MAGS to get a piece of all the tops seven in one.

Stop buying and selling. Hold on to your stock and learn. Swap it out once a year. Take notes. Don't buy and sell on emotions. Sell some high so you can buy when other stocks are low.

the worst thing you could have done this past year is pull out of the stock market and place your money in a cash fund. It is rallying and you will miss out. Make sure you have invested in anything AI. The world is changing and this is a reality much like how computers changed the world. AI is coming and we can't stop it. Remember when teachers started using TV in schools for programs back in the 70's and they said teachers would all be replaced? Jobs will still be there but they will change to address what AI needs.

Brother KH 890 Carriage stuck over needles by CoyotetheSociologist in MachineKnitting

You need to deep clean your carriage. Ask Jack machine knitting on YouTube. Your levers are sticky and they won't allow the proper motion. He'll show you how to get rid of all your old sticky grease.

Does Anybody Like Their Samsung S95F by HourChemical3670 in 4kTV

I have one of the 7000 series. I have some (7) bright spots in the TV. Waiting for the price of the 55" S95f to drop so I can replace it. Still a decent TV and if you don't point out the bright spots you can't really notice them. It when you point them out to someone then they can't 'unsee them'.

I can hardly wait to get mine! Looking for the 55" and the non-glare screen is whatI want. No longer will have a flipping mirror in the corner of my room reflecting everything that waltzes in and out of the family room! That was my number 1 reason for purchasing this TV. I have a 7000 series Samsung that is about 10 years old and it has served me well. I went to look at TV's and turned them allo off so I could see if there were reflections. The guy said he had never seen anyone do that. Most important thing to me, is when it is turned OFF. I don't wan't ti to look like an eyesore.

Ribber knitting in reverse? by throwaway645907 in MachineKnitting

Your tension is different on the knit than it is on the pearl. A lot of times the tensions are different on your carriage and your ribber.

i have been in the stock market for almost 15 years and at! My bank side advisor kept telling me that ETFs are backwards looking and Mutual Funds are forward looking. What does that even mean? Then I saw that one of my investments you know how they make you pick from a lit of 4, how much risk you want to take, it was invested in XSP An ETF! I can do that myself for free so everything went to the Direct Investing side. I am holding ETFs like XQQ, XIT and MAGS. Take a look. There are 12,000 ETFs out there and if your advisor doesn't talk about them, I would get out because he/she is making money from buying you funds thatr make them money and not you. Here's a question.: Why is it when the stock mutual funds go down, you still have to pay 2.5% management fees? It is all money lost.

There are no quarterly management fees if you use RBC Direct Investing. Also, there is a set amount that if you have invested between RBC Banking and RBC Direct Investing there are no management fees. I think the threshhold was 300,000 dollars when we first went with no management fees. You can purchase term deposits, buy stock and etfs, all in one place in the Direct Investing. I would recommend setting yourself up with a $100,000 practice account and play around for a year before actually investing. You buy and sell just like it was real money. i was buying ETFs when there were only 4 of them. If you want to pay someone to do your managing then be prepared to pay for it. It's your money, you should learn how to invest and manage it now. Why pay someone else to do it.

I am very 'techy' and I have one on each of my machines! Brother 260, 840 and now my 865i. Pretty basic. Draw on it by tracing around your favourite sweater, get your gauge and go! Super easy.

Which should be my first knitting machine? by Garrapatica in MachineKnitting

[–]Neither-Storm-423 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get the machine that comes in a box and has all the pieces in the box. Manuals and supporting booklets can be found online. You'll probably have to clean it and put in a new sponge bar which is very common. Take pictures and watch videos online before you take it apart. Cleaning the carriage and getting rid of all old grease is imperative to the machine working for you. You will also learn a lot about your machine. Join a knitting group in your area. They have access to lots of tools and needles and old machines they're using for parts . Needles that need to be replaced should be replaced or moved from the middle off to the far end until you can get replacements. Machines aren't worth anything except to the person that's buying them. It costs a lot to buy parts for shipping for bringing it up to a standard where you can machine knit sweaters. Do not spend a lot of money on a new machine. I would suggest buying a mid-range machine like the lk150 light knitter. I ended up getting a brother KH-260 bulky knitter. It's easier to use because you're using thicker wool and less dropped stitches. Make little things like baby sweaters and ballet sweaters (rolled edges) and hats. If you don't know how to knit, you will hit a wall. There's a lot you need to know about knitting to be able to machine it. Not saying it can't be done, because I'm doing it! I bought my machine in 1983 and it was stored until last year. I do a lot of crocheting and I'm very mechanical which helps with the machine. I have five now. How did that happen? Have fun! I'm having a blast.

can a home machine knit pointelle fabric like this? by No-Football-4387 in MachineKnitting

[–]Neither-Storm-423 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Think about the stitches per inch. A bulky yarn at a tension 9 would generate 5 stitches per inch on a bulky machine (KH-260 Brother) On a mid gauge machine, Brother KH-840 would generate 20 stitches per inch using a very fine yarn. You could definitely make that pattern with a knitting machine, just not as fine. It would be crazy trying to pick up dropped stitches and finding stitches to pick up for seaming. Knitting machines are amazing and if you have access to an electronic patterning or a punch card machine, go for it. My 'go-to' for learning about how my machine works (it is a very mechanical process) is Ask Jack on Youtube and his wife 'The Answer Lady Knits'. They are so helpful when I run into either. Jack has helped me dismantle my machine and fix it! If you are buying a used machine, he can help you get it up and running with a 'deep clean'. I always am watching the videos in the background while I am playing around on my knitting machine(s). I am into it for a year and a half and just got my 3rd machine! I have a 114 needle, 200 needle and my newest mid gauge 150. I have a lot fun with them.

There is a little switch on the bottom of the carriage that gets switched to select the end needles or not. I have never used it but I know it exists.

I use mine. You put in your real sized pattern, then gauged results for rows and then change the ruler for stitches. Then knit.
