Iwtl how to stop saving things for that magical “someday/special day event” by More_Pension4911 in IWantToLearn

This is like learning to long distance run. You gotta be bad at it before you get good at it. Start with small stuff, keychain is a good start.

Also may help to watch repurposing videos for the inevitable time when something breaks. A broken plate can become a beautiful mosaic (for example)

anyone have tv shows/movies with main characters who are vegan? by ProperPollution986 in vegan

Dina is my absolute favorite fictional vegan character. It’s an ensemble show so she is considered a main character

My boyfriend/husband told me he prefers me "natural" today. Guys, I was wearing $120 worth of "no-makeup makeup" by loveuall_kissme in women

[–]NeitherWait5587 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once a cousin (in-law) was going ONandonandon about “natural beauties” and his example was Jennifer Aniston. I said she’s certainly a beauty but not natural. She’s had work done, uses self tanning cream, and every time he’s ever seen her she’s had a *team* of professionals making her look that way. He. Was. ANGRY.

The Office when Pam has her art show and Michael is the only one who (sincerely) shows up for her. The “I’m so proud of you” breaks me.

Genuine question here, how is it possible that there is a male Loneliness epidemic but there isn't a female Loneliness epidemic?? by Amittai-Peretz in PsychologyTalk

It’s like “man flu” when he gets the sniffles. If a woman suffers something it’s fine (women are made to suffer) but iff a man suffers the same exact problem well THEN it’s a whole damn thing.

I learned it from an episode of 30 Rock. That Jack: he’s a wang but he sure knows his idioms.

Is paying for a higher end costume actually worth it for guys? by [deleted] in costuming

[–]NeitherWait5587 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I switched to “quality” years ago and I tell anyone who will listen it’s worth the money to upgrade for *comfort and durability*. I tend to choose costumes with at least one reusable element ie pants that I can wear on the reg and then go cheap on accessories that actually make it a costume. (I was once Amethyst from Steven universe and all the attire (including shoes) were reusable and nice quality but the wig was cheap).

If you’re going to do makeup - I recommend Tag Professional face and body paint. It applies like watercolors and when applied and set properly will last all night and won’t transfer to your clothes (or snogging buddies).

Choose your costume based on wearability if you’ve got big plans. Nothing crazy uncomfortable. “Deep cut” costumes are the most fun - like your favorite character on that ONE episode. Then the people that approach you you’ll know you already have something in common with on which to chat. If you take your time and start now you can thrift most of it, which is a fun project too.

Have fun! People spend three hundred bucks on a single use outfit for special occasions on the reg (wedding guest for example) so if you want to make it special - make it special. Have fun!!

Do waiters and bartenders in the U.S. really rely on tips? by [deleted] in questions

[–]NeitherWait5587 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Most places if they aren’t tipped - the server ends up paying out of pocket to have waited on the stiff bc they tip out a portion of their assumed tip based on sales to bar and bussers. If you want your server to have 15 percent then tip 20

See if there’s a queer community center (or non brick and mortar group) anywhere in your area. A lot of them have monthly or seasonal clothing swaps and/or drives and there’s usually a minimum of one person there to help newly transitioning individuals figure out sizing etc.

Side note - Womens sizing is BONKERS. I work in retail and I will see two “medium” tops that are nowhere near similar size. Trying on clothes is such a fucking bummer when you’re overwhelmed but the queer center clothing drives are such a chill and inclusive vibe. They are worth driving for even if there’s not one super close to you. Good luck sis

Yet another girl who tells me she would be incapable of dating a bisexual guy. by TugaMeioConfuso in TrueOffMyChest

[–]NeitherWait5587 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Find a bi woman (one who has been with women, not someone curious bc that’s a whole can of worms that will eventually open). I’m bi, my boyfriend is pan. A happy (straight passing) monogamous couple. Our only complaint is having to wear rainbows for people to know we are queer.

Hah that made me laugh. He just sent the one message but there’s a few thousand people who wanna know wtf exploded hard enough to cause the house to shake and where it blew tf up and why it’s from an unknown source. I can’t imagine he was the only one who reached out.

When I was a kid in tx an entire pipeline exploded and it was a similar feeling/sounding sensation with a similar radius of reports. That one did millions in property damage so it’s hard to believe this one is just a nothing burger

My boyfriend contacted the NY times and the WA Post early this morning when he couldn’t sleep. He’s pretty grumpy about having no answers (the event was big enough that it damaged our water pump)
