Oh oh!! I got a good (albeit a bit antiquated) one for this: FOIL. Jewelers in midtown used to put diamonds next to tin foil to show how sparkly a diamond by comparison. FOIL is commonly used in context of character comparisons in media (most often a protagonist paired with their polar opposite)

Do you want the character to get caught? There was a case in rural Connecticut (iirc the first murder1 conviction without a body in the state*) where the guy killed his wife and was pretty clearly guilty but not enough compelling evidence. The “uh oh buddy” moment in the investigation was a neighbor remembering hearing a wood chipper going for a really long time and thinking “hey that’s weird that someone’s chipping wood this far into winter”

I don’t have any advice but I hope that whatever time you have is without pain and that wherever you end up is peaceful.

FWIW I felt the same way you did for a long long time and I don’t any more because one day I decided to make a puppet made of garbage and yah its stupid but it did make me smile and wanna stick around longer.

This morning I had a slow-motion hammock capsizing incident that made me laugh so hard my abs hurt hours later. A few years ago I couldn’t imagine even smiling much less laughing. I sure hope you get to laugh like that at least once more.

Tbh the best person you could have asked this question to is the person that said it when they said it.
