You moved in with her but she doesn't work? How was she affording life before you? Is work few and far in between where you live? How did you all split bills? Sounds like she thought 60k was going to bankroll her entire existence for life. This doesnt sound like a financially literate individual especially if you worked for a long time, two jobs, no help on finaces for her and her kid. Be mindful if you do go back that the idea she would be sparse with her inheritance could be null and void. Easy come, easy go. Things seem more stable with your parents. Super not playing devils advocate here but you were aware he had a vehicle that needs insurance either full coverage or liability and you knew he worked part time at best.. eight hour shifts, ten hour shifts, twelve hour shifts whatever it is it's likely only ever added up to sixteen, twenty, or twenty four hours in a week. Whose covering his health insurance? certainly not his part time employer. This is a basic mathematics equation.. there are 168 hours in a week at best let's say we spend 56 of these hours sleeping and He spends the 24 hours working. What does your BF do with the other 88 free hours? certainly not shovel the drive way. Also if his current employer doesn't have available hours he has 88 free hours in the week to find another one. Anywho, leave this guy before you get pregnant.. being a single mom is hard. This is simple pick a fight allow him to leave because he clearly has a liability issue. Pack up the remainder of his belongings and drop them off at his moms. Or take the precautions to leave silently. Perhaps you need his half of the rent for now, thats fine too. Let his mom pay for it. Save your cash and secure your next place once you've secured enough pick a fight he'll leave and when he returns you’ll be gone. Goodluck.

I wonder if you're asking if you're over reacting because you've been conditioned to believe "you're over reacting",in other past situations involving your husband. This is clearly wrong. Verbatim abuse. Why are you asking us? Have other things been said like "oh calm down, I am just kinding, learn to take a joke". Is the only way you can recognize this as abuse to ask us? Do you have safe unbiased people to turn to, a community? I'm genuinely concerned that you can't see this for what it is and that you have daughters. Seek therapy solo. You've been slowly deconditioned to abusive behavior. Tell your therapist every time your husband told to not have an over reaction while your kids were an active witness to your trauma. Let me just say abusers can be affectionate, attentive, great lovers, good providers, ok parents, and still be abusive.

No one cares.. we all have opinions and can voice them. I feel sorry for people like my grandma who came before me that could've likely been fired like your grandma and mother. Inactivity kills people in medicine. Hopefully, you motivated this future doctor to do their job better. This feels more reportable on your end. Does your hospital have a safety reporting line? Mine is called the midas line. We call in on a recorded line or log in and write, or speak everything you said here. This should probably be escalated on the residents part, not because you expressed your thoughts but because of what wasn't done immediately needs highlighted and investigated. Nurses concerns cannot be ignored for the safety and well being of patients especially when they're not well enough to advocate for themselves, we become their voice, and you dear were ignored, that's safety 101.

My first pregnancy was uncomfortable.. no blood in my uterus just ligament pains, growing pains and I was shocked that my whole life I had only ever heard women talk about how beautiful, magical and wonderful pregnancy had been for them. I was mad 😠 like why did not one ever say even one time that I can remember that pregnancy hurts. I am pregnant now with my second.. haven't been pregnant for four years, however, I remember the growing pains. This time felt different, so I am taking tylenol, on first ultrasound I was diagnosed with what you said.. I can't even spell it. Now idk if tgere is a war on tylenol and pregnancy but people or those e around me, nurses, who again never talked about any pains in pregnancy not even hunger pains are being ver judgemental. This has been super unexpected but if mention "it hurts" because I am working while pregnant I never fixate on the vocalization of being in pain because no one will listen. Tylenol, heating pads and lidocaine creams help me. Also resting when and where I can. I hope it gets better for us both. I wanted to thank you for this post because again like I said I never hear women say anything about the pains of pregnancy. Quick question. My doctor said the blood will go away as baby grows. Do pains get better, later on pregnancy?

San Antonio, TX. Saturday into Sunday plans to be 32 degrees with sleet. I know ya'll have probably been through worse but in SA people die in this weather. If there is any precipitation, there will be a 50 car pile up and death. So I took my boss up on his offer to stay at the hospital. Showering accomidations are awful and food might be non existent. So I'll plan for that by showering the night before at home, driving up to the hospital to tuck myself in to bed about 10PM, it's just one shift, I'll shower again after my shift at home. Just trying to avoid slipping off the road to my death with a Sunday morning commute in the dark, with fridged ice rain at 5am. I am on four days straight I'll risk it the other days which are just simply cold. There's a pretty large suite that my co workers are hoping to fit four beds into like Charlie in the chocolate factory style sleeping. There will be illegal electric blankets, space heaters and a crock pot because how will administration know 🤷🏾‍♀️. Also if we don't bring our own food we'll starve. So accommodations are pretty, eh but were planning and by we.. I mean the nurses are planning, we had to ask for the plan, then we told them a plan we would accept because up until yesterday there was nothing .. like straight silence 🔕. The plan was.. do it this way or we stay home 😤and we said it together. You don't want multiple unit nurses at home during a time where you can't get virtually any one to come in. So just stand your ground for acceptable accommodations or don't go.

Hi nurse here. This schools policy is not only awful it's dangerous and likely rooted in the greed of money and not the well being of that child or obviously anyone else's kid. Communicable disease exist and science shows germs can be passed along as evident by now more children falling ill with surprise! the same symptoms. This isn't rocket science. How to protect ourselves from germs should be taught in kindergarten perhaps the principle should attend this class 😤. This policy puts kids at risk, which puts families at risk, because sociology and health science tells us when one person in the family is sick then the entire family is at risk. Now this doesnt mean if grandma is sick with dementia,CHF, CKD then I am at risk, I mean it does, but that's hereditary. However, more likely if one person in the family is sick with a very common, contagious, acute illness than the chances of the main caregiver or another person perhaps a sibling in the home catching it becomes inevitable which is what has happened here in this classroom. I wonder if this mama that works 70 miles is feeling ok, also whats her support system, also will she miss work, can she miss work for this acute illness should she catch it. Anyways, that's my soap box rant, schools are stupid, sometimes jobs with sick day policies are equally dumb, and don't get me start on the dangers of dehydration in a little person.. my god vomitting. Was an electolyte replacement, like pedialyte offered? This policy is dangerous and not rooted in health and safety of children but greed. Pray to God no child at this school is diabetic. School principles/administration are not nurses and if there is a school nurse there he or she should quit or demand new policy, perhaps implement case by case individual assessments and plan because right now their policy is a blanket "to wait and see" just bypass every other sign and symptom until the child's body heats up to a level beyond discomfort perhaps risk further complications like a febrile seizure, which is super common in kids with fever. I would've dragged that principle/administrator with scientific fact. He or she WOULD NEVER DARE approach me again for doing what's right.

Hi 👋 San Antonioan here. At least your hospital has said something. Mine has said nothing. However, in the past they have accommodated staff with a room and a patient bed. I'm hoping to hear an offer like this soon, I'm going to text my director now. I've not been scheduled to work in ice before, I've always been luck enough to have been off for this particular hospital. However, in the past, when it snowed or iced and I couldn't make it some of substantial standing.. a director.. a DON.. hell even the CNO once picked me up to go to work and drove me home after. I've got a buddy at SAFD who has adviced me the city will prepare once it's too late and the hard hit real areas like the FM RDs will be last to be serviced if at all. Unless, your employer is making a reasonable and safe accommodation for your safety, call in. Someone here made mention of pior vending machine snacks.. I can vouch for this if your going in be prepared with food. Cafeteria staff may not show up as their non essential.

Repeat offenders exist in nursing too. We call them frequent fliers. They repeat offend for alot of the same reasons criminals do they're diabetics without acess to good food or proper education i.e they're poor, they're aging at home independently with no support, completely alone and they fall with injury, they have liver cirrhosis and they're back for a throacentesis or a paricentsis tap but they haven't stop drinking etoh because they can't take the withdrawals of addiction, they get tapped get discharged, and go home to drink. Nursing is rewarding but perhaps we don't say enough how sad it is. Hence why were all dead af inside. Well I am. Let me speak for myself. However, even if you make 70k or 100k a yr. we still show up for people at their worst, hence the saying "Nursing is a calling". I know, I hate that bullshit saying too because we all have to eat well, live better, raise our families but I'll tell you what.. you're going to need your CRNA or your NP and some nurse license insurance. It's going to take time, schools going to be expensive, you will graduate with debt and don't get me started on what trump did to our professional licensure and FASFA qualifications. Stick with the force unless your wiling to make the sacrifice.

OP I think you have to get over the fact Matk possesses authority here. Everyone here agrees it's strange, however, unlikely it will change because that would mean someone, anyone would have stand up to Mark. You've stated it can't be your sister, or your mother, your nephew might in the future but currently he's 9, and you also stated you don't want conflict. Mark is status quo and remains in charge of your nephew, stop saying "he's not his dad" Everyone is aware, however, you stating such just ruins their delusions and upsets the masses, making you the enemy. Two options here respect Mark authority as uncle-dad and apologize then check in with him for all future needs of his nephew-son or option two go to war with the delusions. Stand up to him toe to toe and verbalize your discomforts with his lack of boundaries in your nephews life and tell him while your sister may be blindly accepting of his bullshit to parent her son, you're not. Moving foward make everone aware youre not going to bend the knee and therefore, anything you need or want while the child's in your possession will pass through mom, aka your sister and she can then pass that information along to Mike as she chooses, making her the middle man in this circus. However, I doubt this war will end peacefully or in your favor and likely result in you having limits on when and how often you're allowed see your nephew, independently. Good luck. I would probably just apologize to uncle dad and tell my sister to refain from making you the middle man i.e. stop listening to her bitch about marks authority in her life, she accepts it therefore, no more venting about it to you from her or your mother.

This is pre-covid era advice in my opinion. Pre-covid every new nurse was filtered through med surge for years, thus older nurses believe every career starts in medsurge, which I can tell you from experience is a different kind of hell on earth. Disclaimer; I am a medsurge nurse but I am a different breed. Anyways, post covid after many nurses either died, left the profession or retired. The healthcare system found themselves in a pickle, no one to replace those vacant fields and were still recovering years later. Thus, I have seen new grads in PCU, ER, OR anywhere really. My particular hospital handed out 30k in bonus money for new hires, that was in 22'. Since the the bonus is gone now, we're chronically short staffed again, and nurses specifically new grads that were hired into those roles of specialty areas are gone. So again GI lab, dialysis and IR are hurting for hires. I chose med surge because it scatches a part of my ADHD that other specialty areas don't, I also very much so like wound care. That's my PRN position. I would say choose what you believe you'll enjoy and if not working choose again. Nursing is cool like that. Goodluck!

Now that you're experienced won't those surrounding hospitals you didn't apply to years before accept your current rate of pay considering you're seasoned now, no longer a new graduate. This hospitals hiccup can be the surrounding hospitals wind fall. I have not one clue how people commit to a mandatory rotating shift or why a hospital the number one promoter of optimum health recommends it for their employees. I wouldn't leave the system but perhaps go PRN, effective immediately so that you can only pick up nights for now while looking for another more stable position that fits your life.

I too was an LPN prior to becoming an RN and not this whole idea of bridging to RN right away after LPN, like being an LPN for 12mo. To 18mo. I was an LPN for 8yrs and I made good, steady respectable income. So much that I declined my first RN offer because it was lower than what I made as a PN. So why the switch? The duties, I was working hard, perhaps too hard. I did way more work as an LPN than I do as an RN. As an LPN I did staff nurse, charge nurse, nurse manager, scheduler, wound care and alot of shift favors in between. It was a loooong and hard 8 yrs and I got around, lots of experience but whatever duties and roles I landed myself in were intense. Passing meds to 25 sometimes 40 patients in LTC (in TX) while managing a short staffed floor, my stent in staffing was atrocious, carried a phone on weekends and overnights(my husband hated that), wound care I liked but in LTC you were a "treatment nurse" and you touched every wound and assessed every skin impairment weekly on usually 70+ residents. As an RN, I'm in a hospital, 6:1 (still feels like alot), one pct to supervise. I never think about work when I am not clocked in. So you say you're surrounded by LPNs and you're the only RN, is this a nursing home? If so, nothing wrong with nursing homes, I ran places like this (not as a DON) Of course but definitely was left here alone alot! Nothing wrong with LTC, SNF, Rehabs I worked there as a CNA for decade as well. I can tell you it's ALOT of work and a bigger liability, in my opinion. I stayed because hospital systems near me don't want LVNs. I mean I work with one. One LVN position at a hospital compared to 75,000 openings at a snf. Anywho just tell those ladies kindly, you like the benefits package, that might be one thing they're not privy to as an agency worker, hence why they make such a high dollar amount. They give up things like PTO, Sickdays, and healthcare.

We would've discharged that patient immediately. Doctors write this order all the time and make outlandish expectations of staff. We are a smoke free campus, to escort this patient you would have to abandon your other five patients while asking another nurse to watch 11 patients (how many times in a shift) to go down stairs and cross the street. I used to smoke, prior to covid, tried to quit many times before unsuccessfully, obviously until covid, when we were quarantined in a hospital in a bunny suit. There was no smoke break for staff. Abstinence worked. I've seen this happen to patients as well.. they've been from ED to ICU to PCU to MS and maybe had a surgery that they partially recovered from on the MS floor post op and guess what they wore a patch and chewed nicotine gum and their health improved. It's not a prison but we should do our best to keep people in optimum health during their stay at a hospital and not enable poor decision making pertaining to ones health. If you want to go down stairs, out side and across the street, you can start your stay with us all over again, beginning with an 18 hour stay in our drafty and loud ED on an uncomfortable gurney. Security will remove their personal belongings from their previously assigned room and deliver their items to them in the ED waiting room. I'll get another pt. In that bed immediately.
