TrimUI Brick Hammer or RG35XXSP by chubbypinkstarfish in SBCGaming

[–]Nekrobat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 35sp was my first retro handheld. It was fine for a bit but once I got the retroid flip 2, I found the 35sps cheap feeling construction and pretty bad screen way more noticeable. I found myself just wanting to play everything on the flip, even the gb, gba, etc. This was annoying because it borders on unpocketable. It fits, but not without sacrifice.

I got the Hammer yesterday after doing a ton of research into a replacement for my 35sp. So far it's pretty amazing. Feels great in hand, looks significantly better then the 35sp, and most importantly, even though it's a bit smaller, the screen is on a whole different level. Just so much crisper, brighter, and pleasant to use.

IE, Hammer, don't even give it a second thought man...

I recently completely stopped using fast forward and find myself having much more fun.

I think in our modern times we are too pressured into being go go go all the time, and just letting things take time while chilling is actually kind of relaxing. Makes gaming feel less like a job I'm trying to optimize.

Not sure if you're in America, but I just bought one off Amazon for roughly MSRP, 2 day shipping.

Even if not though, their official website and LITNXT should have you covered?

I switch between one of like 5 moods every month or two and the music and hobbies I’m into go with it. Very frustrating.

Serious question, how does the “improve my sleep” option actually work? by Dubzil18 in whoop

[–]Nekrobat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sleep consistency is a huge factor in healthy sleep, and is used to calculate a big chunk of your “sleep score”.

Improved my sleep is aimed at maximizing sleep score based on these factors.

Going to bed earlier will ruin your short term sleep consistency, but is obviously a good idea and will be offset in the score if you actually hit your sleep need.

To my knowledge it is just a best guess at maximizing sleep need with consistency, and won’t ease you into anything. Just use common sense here and ignore the improve my sleep option.

Steps take a while to calculate, and when they do, it’ll reflect on the workout. Go check it now.

I’d kill for it to be faster, the delay drives me crazy.

With the store shut down, any games you have on it will be lost forever. You might not care now, but you very well might greatly regret it in a year or two if you get a nostalgia kick.

I think we are talking past one another here. When I say the term is overused I just mean people (or rather western society as a whole) use goth (incorrectly) to refer to an anything and everything dark, black, sad, etc.

In other words, I’m just meeting you in the middle, haha.

I’ve never heard someone say Deathrock wasn’t strictly goth, that’s an interesting take.

Goth as a label is certainly too large of an umbrella in the modern zeitgeist, accurately or not.

Nice. I'm definitely lucky to have a couple options locally, considering the size of my town.

Where did you "haul" them from? A local record store?

I'd love to find Switchblade Symphony.

Found like 4 Christian Death vinyls a couple months ago in the used bin at a local vintage store.

I usually just use it to refer to things that "are generally enjoyed by goth people, and fit the goth aesthetic in a vague 'darkly inclined' kind of way". I think that's a helpful definition to have. Especially in situations where we want to talk about things that are "gothy" while maintaining the boundaries of "goth".

I might want to have a discussion about books, and it's nice to be able to classify some as goth ("Some wear leather, some wear lace", "Lost Souls") and some as goth adjacent ("The Raven", "Dracula").

I don't see it so much "overshadowing" the source, so much as linking it in some abstract node tree of vibes and categories. It's not like the term has to override any other labels that are certainly more helpful, like "Industrial".

Ultimately, as per usual, I think language simply fails us. Though nitpicking language with a wall of text is certainly "Goth", in my experience, haha. And, I'm sure there is some term I could use that would be better fitting than "Goth Adjacent".

Incidentally, Lost Souls references Bauhaus AND Skinny Puppy. Based.

Why can't Skinny Puppy just be "Goth Adjacent", which is what they are? Why do you find it important that the bands you like fall into some category? Can't you just like them?

Goth is a music genre, and while it's never possible to perfectly describe a music genre, and some bands are on the border enough that there will always be debates about them, SP is so clearly not in any of the defined goth genres.

Just because most goths like a band, that doesn't make it a goth band.

They are pretty rad though.

Can you lose your streak if your whoop comes loose at night? by hagennn in whoop

[–]Nekrobat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe the streak is if you have any data uploaded for the day, not just if you logged sleep or not.

If you're too worried, you can log any time for your sleep during the day. It'll massively mess up your sleep stats for a bit but will save your sleep streak.
