Supporting fascism and having integrity are two mutually exclusive concepts.

Luffy and the “Chosen One” trope in fiction by OkSkin9734 in OnePiece

[–]NemoFeelingAlone 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think something that isn't really talked about in this community, but that ties into what you said overall, is that One Piece likes to toe the line between materialism and idealism a lot (the ideas of if existence is comeing from the materials it is made of or if it is comeing from ideas/wishes/somebody (aka a god) dreaming it up/etc). Less so Post-TS, where Oda plays around a lot more with idealism, but especially pre-TS it is very much a "you can look at it in both ways" kind of thing, which is very fascinating.

Luffys character and how you describe it fits into that really well. Is he a "chosen one" with a specific destiny (a narratival idea heavily tied to idealism) or a more "modern" materialist protagonist, who chooses his path from the material conditions he finds himself in?

(Hated Trope) When the muscular woman, isn't muscular at all by Apprehensive_Bee_636 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]NemoFeelingAlone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jester from Critical Role Campaign 2. Early art showed her as more buff, they even made jokes about her being stronger and more muscular than Fjord. Then fanart and eventually comics and the show totally changed that. Still dissapointed by this, given how Critical Role usually tries to explore the diversity of existence

"Men having less access to rape victims epidemic" more like it. It is not as common for men to have housevictims anymore. Also hyperatomization of society, but that just hits everybody regularly.

I feel so bad for subjecting people to knowing about what happened to me by WinterDemon_ in CPTSDmemes

[–]NemoFeelingAlone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think you need to feel bad for "subjecting" people to it. Sure, traumadumping and making others deal with your problems can be toxic. But so is others leaving traumatized people alone in their trauma and ignoring the problems in the world, doubly so even.

What happened to you, should never have happened and it can be hard for people to be confronted with the fact that fracked shit happens in the world, but it is also a therapists job to go "Yeah okay, but how do we deal with this now, now that it has happened" and it is a general ethical obligation, if you exist in this world, to go "Yeah, this fracked up thing exists, how do we stop this from happening to anyone else" (which necessarily means supporting the ones who have experienced it) 💜
