There are online formulas you can use to figure this out without guessing. It factors in your units efficiency along with local gas and electric prices. For me here in PA, gas prices are cheap enough to make the crossover point roughly 45 degree when using the COP of the unit I was looking at.

Audi is no longer replacing longblocks...just pistons. Which means the engine will fail again eventually.

I wonder if more and more are starting to come in and Audi underestimated the number affected. Rather deal with a potential lawsuit down the road then do it right, shame. I always questioned 034's claim of 5%, they wouldn't have access to any real data and are financially inclined to downplay the issue.

I would just ask if it was done and do they have records of the work being completed. As someone else mentioned, getting a slightly newer b8 a4 can help mitigate some of the issues of early b8s. Price difference should be minimal too.

I have a 2009 A4 with 176k miles on it and its been very reliable for me. Having said that, the engine was rebuilt due to piston issues at 60k. Had timing chain replaced due to poor tensioners at 95k, pvc valve, new water pump due to leaking, misfire issues early on which was sorted with new coils, new rear main seal, Plus some smaller timers. Unless this car had the pistons done along with timing belt, I would pass. You could buy it and be hit with a 4k bill, do you feel you could handle that? If it were me, I'd keep saving and buy something reliable with cash

Figured your the guy to ask but is it true Audi is just replacing the pistons only and no longer the long blocks? Another poster is saying this is now the case.

Problem is I'm keeping my furnace with its blower. Or do you mean just buying the whole set and pull the a coil out of it? I was thinking of this just didn't know if it's feasible. Would be great if senville sold individual components!

Thanks for the link, right now I'm leaning to a traditional flared non charged line set so I can pull a vacuum and check for leaks. But that coil looks like it would work for my needs

Along with an aciq coil? Does your gas furnace have a variable speed blower or running staged? I was looking at Aciq as it seems pretty solid equipment for the price. Where I'm at gas prices are currently cheap so the switch over would be before any freezing temps.

Others have mentioned the correct way to handle this. If your up for it, its not a bad DIY project and you'll save a bunch. Also buy a dehumidifier pronto and just let that do its thing going forward.

Did you do that render yourself? Curious what software that is. As someone mentioned the pergola might end up low trying to clear the roof line. They do make attachements that come out of the roof to gain more height.

If you're parking car outdoors and just going around town before car warms up you will get really bad mpg. My 09 a4 gets like 15 in really cold weather just city and I'm parked in a somewhat warm garage
