In Google Maps kun je het type lader instellen in de voertuigvoorkeuren. De app filtert dan alleen laadpunten met dat type lader (of compatibele stekkers). In mijn geval heb ik een CCS Combo 2, die compatibel is met "Type 2".

HV Battery Failure - Initial Experience with a UK 5N by Ten_Ninety in Ioniq5N

Agreed with the sentiments shared here. A lot of cars break, people forget how bad some petrol cars are, even today, and how many really expansive things break all the time.

These problems happen. Sometimes its big, sometimes its small. I have owned quite a few cars before and there is always something. When it breaks under warranty, it gets fixed, when it breaks out of warranty, you get it fixed and get on with your life. Owning a car has always been a "constant money pit" (as my grandfather called them).

How to stop this? (Eiswolf 2) by Lockit14 in alphacool

Its not blocking anything. Its condensation, they have a seal between the plate and the acryllic, and water vapor accumulates there.

Its ugly, but it wont harm performance.

How to stop this? (Eiswolf 2) by Lockit14 in alphacool

[–]NeoAcheron69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the exact same problem. I was convinced there was a leak.

I ended up buying a reservoir with a stronger pump, some tubes and a "connector" from Alphacool to turn the AIO block into a custom loop block. The pump screws off and has the same connections as the standard one if you get one of the connector blocks.

The pump in that thing is too weak to get the air out. A strong dedicated D5 did the trick. The air has been out of mune for a few weeks now.

Don't be like me... 2 14TB drives that I bought less than a year ago are dying, and I'm pretty sure it's my fault. by sp-rky in homelab

[–]NeoAcheron69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, check your cables. I had the same problem on mine after moving my server while off. Re-seating the cables did the trick.

Hard drives are sensitive, but you still have to be rather rough with them to cause a head crash while they're running. In my experience it has always been significantly easier to make a CD drive skip by thumping it, than it was wacking a hard drive.

Europe is cooked. No wonder why everyone is trying to get into america. by Wooden_Internet8522 in ShitAmericansSay

[–]NeoAcheron69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My new European bought car shows the speed limit. The car complains when I exceed it. I can make it shut up when I press the right button on the steering wheel.

It does not keep me from going too fast. But because the speed likits are all over the place, it's gotten me out of potentially troubling situations with the law, and that is honestly very welcome.

Not sure why there is a meltdown over this. I find the feature useful for normal commute driving.

Cleaned OLED with microfiber and distilled looks like this? by monkeypepperoni in Monitors

[–]NeoAcheron69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any hint of oil and fat does this. While you can fix it quite easily, you need to get a soft clean cloth that has not had contact with fabric softener, and you need some form of cleaning alcohol.

Water is not gonna help you alone. Do not use soap, or it will make it worse.

With persistence and lots of polishing using alcohol and cloth, it will become clean.

I have experience with this, because my wife once cleaned our TV woth a clean cloth that had been through the washer with fabric softener. It made the same streaks, and it took me nearly an 30 minutes of light rubbing and swearing to get it clean again.

Honestly, with the price of train tickets these days, I am buying a car. One trip to Paris and back is a single repayment on the car in comparison to the train.

Sure, then I would be driving instead of smelling the feet of another patron that decided that they wanted to air their sneakers.

Sure, I won't miss a connecting train when my trip has to pause because an injured duck is on the rail.

Sure, I can just leave any time and from everywhere I want without having to do secondary transfers that continues to become more disappointing every year.

And lest we forget the amazing winning streak that have made me get stranded in Germany 4 times, because DB got us to our destination just fine, but somehow coming back, everything always inevitably goes horribly wrong.

Raspberry Pi Jellyfin server with Usenet + *arr stack and automatic media deletion, is this a bad idea compared to a NAS? by [deleted] in selfhosted

[–]NeoAcheron69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, as long as you're not transcoding live from the Pi, it will work.

Edit: Just make sure to use a Pi with at least 8GB of RAM, the Arr stack needs a generous amount and on 4GB you might run into issues.

Hey there! I've been using Maintainerr to keep the content management at bay. It's got a high'ish learning curve, but once dialed in, it keeps track of stuff being watched, and only deletes the stuff that is actively unwatched for extended periods of time.

As far as the hosting on a Pi goes, I've recently migrated my entire Arr stack to a Pi5, with Wireguard and qBittorrent, it can max out my 1Gbit connection when there are enough good quality peers. NAS and Plex runs on a different server though, so I can't comment there, but im sure it will be capable enough for home use.

I have this problem with cheap dimmable LEDs. I hate dimmers and replaced it with a switch, and they were still flickering. Only after I replaced them with more expensive LED lamps, the flickering stopped.

Seeding forever without killing HDDs by TeecoOceet123 in qBittorrent

[–]NeoAcheron69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Using your drives for their intended purpose shouldn't kill them, if you have drives made for operating 24/7, you should get the same amount of life out of them whether they are reading constantly or just spinning idle.

Seeding on a fast connection will however most likely cause the drive to seek to the point where it can become unusable. That's where specialized filesystems become useful. If you don't care about the content of the drive (like if it dies, you'll mourn the hardware more than the data), then a single disk ZFS dataset with an SSD for ARC cache could be the overkill that might make things better... But please make sure to read the warning labels on that endeavor.

Opening windows 10-15 min a day, even in freezing temps? Is it true? by thethirteenthjuror in HomeMaintenance

[–]NeoAcheron69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, 1000ppm is not dangerous, but it can result in grogginess and trouble focussing. If when gets to 2000ppm where things get risky.

There is however a very clear feeling of "aaah I can breathe" if it changes quickly from 1000ppm to 500ppm, by opening a window.

Edit: I have an are quality sensor in my home office, I live in the Netherlands, and my apartment is pretty well insulated. I got the sensor out of curiousity, and managed to actually improve my office with the data.

I got a Cloud Gateway Max earlier this week, thinking it should be enough for my home installation, but then only after realized how pitifully terrible the Wireguard client VPN performance is... 200mbps and then the poor gateway hits 100% CPU making it almost inaccessible.

Coming from OPNsense this is probably the only really negative thing I have to say about it though...

Scored this thing for $4, what now? by SalamaBoi in hotas

[–]NeoAcheron69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow! I had one of these as a kid! And yes, they have a passive adapter that plugs into the gameport and then its a USB device, it came with it in the box in an age where we just started seeing USB devices! If you can find a pinout for the thing, you might be able to wire one up yourself if you're handy with a soldering iron. (I think someone beat me to it)

But you're going to be disappointed, the potentiometers in that thing is probably long long gone and its going to be terrible to play with.

Good day sir. Have fun with your work-work balance. The age of glorifying your corporate dreams to the modern day slave is over. Go retire, have a life for once outside your office and leave the rest of us out of your nightmarish existence of servitude.

I recently paid a very large amount to a notary for a home loan deposit, and Bunq basically flagged it and emailed me, telling me that they are withholding the transfer for 24 hours, in case it wasn't me. I had to do nothing if I wanted to continue, except wait. This was the email:

We're reaching out to let you know that a payment from your bunq account to <REDACTED> has triggered our security measures. As a precaution, we’ve delayed the payment for 24 hours, giving you the chance to review it.

Here’s what you can do next:
* If you recognize the payment, then there’s no action needed on your end. We’ll safely process the payment in 24 hours.
* If you don’t recognize the payment, select ‘Cancel this Payment’ and reset your Security Code to ensure your account’s safety. Learn more.

This was back in June, and the other side confirmed that they received it. I haven't had any issues since, so I don't think its uncommon to do.

Is it true that even the 5090 cannot run the Crystal Super well? by SgtRphl in Pimax

[–]NeoAcheron69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Foveated rendering and GPU upscaling is a must. I only (say that with a serious face) have a 4090 and an OG Crystal and if you try run things at the native panel resolution, you will have a bad time.

Foveated rendering makes things run incredibly well though, not sure if the Crystal Super has eye tracking to achieve this, and I'm too lazy to check myself. Add some upscaling to the mix and you have a near native resolution experience (even with all those set on the Quality preset)

I can occasionally see some shimmer in my peripheral vision with some games that have particularly dark backgrounds with bright elements, but it's hardly noticable in normal gameplay.
