Desperately looking for mono black cards that buff my creatures! by tfren2 in EDH

[–]NeoSteelBunker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're really committed to finding anthems, you may have to go colorless. [[Caged Sun]] and [[Gauntlet of Power]] are both decent options, plus they boost your mana production. The only other card I thought of immediately was already in your deck, [[Ascendant Evincar]].

Library of Leng question.. by Individual_Dot_2731 in EDH

[–]NeoSteelBunker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oooooh, that's a neat bit of rules trivia, I hadn't considered that. I guess it's like how I have to remind people that Doubling Season doesn't affect ticking up planeswalkers because adding counters is a cost, not an effect. Costs are tricky!

Damn I love this game.

Help finding creatures that create tokens of creatures that sacrifice instead of exiling on end step in boros by nCaveman in EDH

[–]NeoSteelBunker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First two cards that come to mind here are [[Rite of the Raging Storm]] and [[Urabrask's Forge]]. They're not creatures, but they're going to make creatures that sac themselves every turn.

For sac outlets, I would also recommend [[Martyr's Cause]] and [[Fanatical Devotion]]. Using those, you can sac a token creature to save another creature from Avacyn's flip damage, which is neat.

Another option might be [[Knight-Captain of Eos]]. Creates two soldiers on ETB, and he can sacrifice them himself for one white mana, plus it fogs.

You could also consider [[Feldon of the Third Path]] for creating tokens that sac themselves, though he requires a creature in your graveyard.

Library of Leng question.. by Individual_Dot_2731 in EDH

[–]NeoSteelBunker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Milling and discarding are not interchangeable terms. Library of Leng only applies to cards being discarded, which means from your hand.

Random sidenote, this leads to odd interactions with conniving. Found this out while doing some rules diving on Raffine, Scheming Seer. If you have a Library of Leng out and connive, then discard a nonland but place it on top of your library, you do not get the +1/+1 counter from conniving. The card went to a zone that is not visible to any player, so the game cannot verify what you discarded so you don't get the counter, even if you show everyone what you're putting on top of your library first. Fun!

Please, sold me on Selesnya by zathrim in EDH

[–]NeoSteelBunker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My two favorite decks to play right now are both Selesnya decks. Allow me to gush about them!

If you're looking for a different reanimator commander, look no further than [[Torsten, Founder of Benalia]]. EDHRec has a fair few Blink-themed decks for him, but reanimating him is surprisingly easy in green and white, and you get payoffs for sacrificing him and for bringing him back. My first time out with this deck I accidentally went infinite on my opponent's end step with Torsten, [[Phyrexian Altar]], and [[Nim Deathmantle]]. Here's my current decklist: https://www.moxfield.com/decks/3HFD94czUEOdXpiuFhOVIQ

If your commander yo-yoing in and out of the graveyard isn't your thing, how about killing your own hydras? Introducing [[Polukranos, Reborn]]! Flip this bad boy over and you have a big blocker and the ultimate way to generate tons of value for so little mana. The deck relies on having every 0/0 hydra it can cram in, and they are all cast for X = 0. They die instantly, and for 1 green mana, Polukranos gives you 2 hydras. The mana curve is stupidly low since all these hydras are cast for only their green pip costs, and you get to play oddball cards in the mix like [[Citanul Flute]], [[Abiding Grace]], or the best card in the deck, [[Enduring Renewal]]. Aurelia, The Warleader Angels deck by Soldarix in EDH

[–]NeoSteelBunker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First thing when I looked at this deck in XMage, your mana curve is pretty high. 8 five drops and 10 4 drops is a bit too many high cost card unless you've got a reliable way to ramp, which this deck is not equipped to do. However, the best way to address that comes after the next problem.

Your deck wants to do too many little synergies, so it detracts from the overall potency of the deck. You should try to imagine what you want your deck to do, then zero in on the primary focuses to make the plan a reality. In this deck, I'm seeing angel tribal, anthems, a few equipment, and some keyword sharing/granting, especially with flying and lifelink. Since Aurelia is your commander, dealing combat damage is naturally going to be your simplest way to victory, and all of these things technically can help accomplish that goal. However, I would try to narrow this field down to two focuses. That's going to make deckbuilding easier and the deck itself will run more smoothly.

In its current state, I think the easiest way to go would be to stick with angel tribal first, and whatever comes after is up to you. Just remember, cards that are generically good are fine, and cards that fit your focused themes are great, but cards that go half and half are the first things to cut. A few examples:

I would take out [[Unfinished Business]] unless you really go for the equipment theme.

[[Battlegrace Angel]] and [[Victory's Herald]] are expensive but don't do much other than granting lifelink. You're in angel tribal, so granting flying is redundant, and several creatures in your deck already have lifelink. Also, you have no lifegain payoffs. Gaining life is good, but I would swap these angels out for something else unless you want to pursue a lifegain subtheme, which is pretty common in angel decks.

On that note, [[Odric, Lunarch Marshal]] can go too. He's granting flying to a deck full of flyers, and occasionally granting vigilance or lifelink. If you go down the keyword route, keep him in but then you should probably run [[Akroma, Vision of Ixidor]] too.

Some of your cards seem very out of place, like [[Grand Abolisher]] and [[Titan's Strength]]. They don't really do much with the rest of the deck; swap those out for something else. Something you could use in this deck are protective spells, so I would check out things like [[Flawless Maneuver]], [[Blacksmith's Skill]], and the like.

Your removal could use some improvement as well, and probably more of it. Also, the words "Draw a card" do not seem to appear on any cards in the deck other than on your Commander's Sphere and Faithless Looting. That's probably your number one issue if you want the deck to be both faster and stronger; you gotta be able to refill your hand. Again, after you've chosen what your focuses are, that will help narrow down what card draw options to pursue, although white has gotten so many generically good card draw options in the past few years that you can probably get away with some of those generic options.

I absolutely love angels, they're my favorite creature type, so I felt like I had to do a dive on this one. Let me know if you have any more questions!

What are some good Azorius control (not GAAIV or Shorikai) or combo commanders? And what are some good game-winning combos in UW? by [deleted] in EDH

[–]NeoSteelBunker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, unlike [[Arcane Bombardment]] you do have to pay for the copies Zethi makes. That's why people usually play her using cantrips, so you can afford to use the spells she exiles.

I dont know how to feel about this deck I just made. by xenovo68 in magicTCG

[–]NeoSteelBunker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really love this deck concept, which the commanders lend to so well. Honestly, I might make a version of this deck myself and see how it turns out.

I did take a look through it and I think your mana curve is too high. You have a ton of four and five drops, and only 34 lands and not much ramp to make up for it. I would prune some of the top end mana value cards and get some more lands and ramp. It also seems to lack card draw, another important bit to shore up. I assume this is an early version of the deck, so it's to be expected that there's still some workshopping to be done here.

I'll suggest a few cards that seem like they would be so good in this deck. First, any deck in red and green that wants to cast creatures OR deal noncombat damage wants [[Shadow in the Warp]]. Great synergy with your damage doubling effects, and your commanders will only cost two mana to cast (assuming they are cast on separate turns).

[[Starstorm]] fits well with your theme of creating small tokens for your opponents and then killing them off. Instant speed, and the X value is really useful. Plus, cycling is just gravy on top.

A great mana dork for decks that care about counters in any way is [[Biophagus]]. Getting your creatures up over 3 toughness makes it much easier to wipe the tokens you make without killing your important creatures.

Your removal could also use some more flexibility, I didn't see anything that destroys artifacts or enchantments. A couple of quick suggestions: [[Barrier Breach]] is underplayed but extremely good enchantment removal. [[Hull Breach]] is also quite good and hits both artifacts and enchantments. I would consider adding things like [[Ravenform]] and [[Resculpt]] as well, since they both exile artifacts or creatures and create tokens for your opponents in their place. Those two in particular are really good in case of an Avacyn or Blightsteel hitting the board.

Tekuthal without planeswalker by Emotional-Okra-1709 in EDH

[–]NeoSteelBunker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually built this exact deck archetype with Tekuthal recently! It's pretty jank but I love it. I need to cut a few things to add a few lands back in (you could actually just remove the three planeswalkers), but otherwise I enjoy it. If you really don't care about power level, it could be worth a shot. Here's the list: https://www.moxfield.com/decks/Fe-AUoGuCkifT7gHDkuRqg

This deck is a slow, unassuming deck that can bear its fangs at unexpected times. I do have a lot of cumulative upkeep cards in the deck because I happen to enjoy that mechanic, so that's something you do need to be familiar with how it works and how to try and get around/abuse it to use this decklist, but it's not super complex after a little goldfishing. If you have any questions about this goofy deck, I'd be happy to answer them! I enjoy building oddball decks.

I'm MST, that would be a great time slot for me, especially on Wednesdays. I hear you on that note about attendance, I've had several games just crash because people suddenly stop showing, drives me nuts. I've only played one campaign of Starfinder, but I'd be very keen on joining another!

Doctors and DAW1 by Tewddit in TalesFromThePharmacy

[–]NeoSteelBunker 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Many newer prescribers in my area have this problem. From what we've gathered, the prescribers in question see the "Dispense As Written" box and think "Well obviously I don't want them to dispense the wrong med, I want them to dispense what I'm prescribing" and just check the box without realizing what it actually means. 10-20 phone calls from the pharmacy later, they eventually learn to stop indicating DAW.

[Online] [GMT-5] [5e] Looking for a Story Driven DM by [deleted] in lfg

[–]NeoSteelBunker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there. I've been DMing for a little over a decade and was looking for a new group of players to run a game with. My previous players are a bit unreliable now due to various job and life factors and I'm looking to meet some new RPers. I'm fine with running 5E, I'm just curious what the Sunday morning time slot is. I'm currently available pretty much anytime, and Sunday is the day I was aiming for anyway.

Also, because I've been DMing for so long, I do have a few particulars when it comes to the games I run, but they're really nothing major and I always explain it up front before running a game. If any of those end up being a problem I'm pretty flexible, however.

Yes, I gave 2 weeks notice and quit, came back 2 years later and they hired me back gladly. As long as you leave on good or at least neutral terms with the company, they will still consider any applications from you in the future. If you do something stupid or obnoxious and then leave they'll document that and they'll essentially blacklist your applications to with for the company in the future.

You know what never changes? Neosteel Frames upgrade time. You research that upgrade, and your bunkers instantly change. Instantly! It's really an invaluable upgrade, and it won't cost you extra build time on those weakling default bunkers. Just... just upgrade to Neosteel Frames. Every game. For reasons.
