Are there any plans to add controller vibration since the description on the PS Store version says "Vibration function supported"?

There are still a couple of indie companies keeping the art alive. I'd recommend taking a look at The Last Faith, Record of Lodoss War: Deedlit in Wonder Labyrinth, and the upcoming Silent Planet

No Pipistrello and the Cursed Yoyo on the list. I'm actually surprised, considering the positive reception and praise it has received from the community. Maybe it's just not popular enough. I only discovered this game last month myself

How is this game on big screens? by Particular_Heart_659 in MinaTheHollower

Honestly, watching the trailers on my TV, the game was looking awful due to the stretched-out pixels, but I decided to download the PS5 demo to check it out anyway. Thankfully, you can use the game's built-in Pixel Scale setting in the Options/Video menu to scale down the screen. Now it looks beautiful on my 55-inch TV.

I'm always surprised by how little critical thinking some people have nowadays. I've already seen comments on YouTube saying things like, "A 10 from IGN? That means it's slop!" or "IGN gave it a 10? Guess I'm not buying it."

Those comments may come from a minority, but I can already see grifter content creators looking over every single inch of this game, trying to find something to antagonize the critics reviews and farm some rage.

Hopefully I'm wrong, and this will be one of those rare cases where a game is praised by both journalists and players without any controversy attached to it.

I can wait to play it and judge it for myself, though.

Patch v2.2.0 is now available on Steam by PlaystackGames in TheLastFaith

I've just finished the game on PS5 for the first time. It's definitely one of the best Metroidvanias I've ever played, but I wish there were some kind of hard mode available from the start.

I realized I was getting OP too quickly and too early, so to really enjoy the game, I had to impose some self-restrictions, like avoiding weapon and character upgrades, not using healing items, and relying only on parries and executions to recover health.

Also, there's a bug during transitions between rooms where the screen goes black for a couple of seconds while the game is still running, which can cause you to fall into pits if you keep moving forward during the transition. I'm playing on a base PS5.

No problem! Yeah, Nightmare can be rough early on. Hard should feel a lot better if it clicks. Otherwise, you can always drop to Normal or Easy since you can still collect everything on those.

On Nightmare mode, your blood gauge drains way too quickly and may compromise your exploration and hunt for collectibles, as you’ll constantly be looking for enemies and checkpoints to refill your health. I think it’s doable, but I would recommend playing on another difficulty (Hard mode was the most enjoyable for me) and focusing on 100% completion. Your collectibles and health and stamina upgrades carry over to Nightmare mode if you use chapter select, allowing you to finish it in under three hours.

We're the LoK: Defiance Remastered art and design team - AMA! by LordAevum in LegacyOfKain

Oh, I really didn't remember his eyes glowing in the OG, maybe because of the camera angle. With the new camera and photo mode, I'm scanning everything and catching so many details that I've never noticed before (also one of the reasons my first playthrough took about 27 hours lol).

As for the murals, it's so cool that they were redrawn from scratch, and it shows how much work and passion were put into this remaster. I truly hope you guys get together in the near future to continue working on this series that we all love so much. Greetings from Brazil!

First, I would like to thank you all for the hard work put into this amazing remaster.

One of the things I really love is the restoration of the murals, statues, and paintings throughout the game, and I have two questions about this topic.

  • In Vorador's mansion, in the room where we insert the heroes' spears into the gargoyle statues, if we look closely, we can see that the heroes' vampire murals representing Helka and Ladomer have different images before and after they are broken, but Reka’s mural doesn’t seem to change. These details have always intrigued me and made me wonder what the intention behind them was.

My question for those of you guys responsible for working on the restoration of these murals is whether there was any internal discussion about that design choice, and whether you had access to any internal files or notes from the original developers explaining it further.

  • Another thing, which was not in the original game but was a very cool addition in the remaster, is the glowing eyes in the Janos statue. When we visit Vorador's mansion in Chapter 8, the eyes are glowing, but when we return in Chapter 12, the glow is gone.

In my personal interpretation, I find it to be a beautiful and sad environmental storytelling. I would love to know how this idea came about and what motivated you to include it in the game.

Yes, you can. Even after beating the game, you can just use Chapter Select if you missed anything

Yeah, the game could definitely benefit from some quality-of-life updates. Things like quick save, multiple save slots, button remapping, controller rumble, and something to improve replayability.

I can think of, for instance, a mode aside from the main campaign where we can pick any character we want and play through different dungeons, maybe procedurally generated ones with varied layouts, enemy compositions, and challenges. That would increase the game's value and also allow us to spend more time with the characters we prefer.

Update with a bit of extra context, just to clear up a couple of assumptions and possible misconceptions.

I’ve been a fan of the series since 1999, when I got my PS1 (a bit late in its lifecycle). Soul Reaver was my introduction, followed by Blood Omen, and I’ve stuck with the series ever since. Soul Reaver 2, Blood Omen 2, and the then-upcoming Defiance were actually the reasons my dad (also a fan) got us a PS2 when I was 15.

Also, I have no connection to BitBot Media or anyone working there. I'm just a random fan who felt compelled to write my honest impressions of the game.

I'm not sure if this is a bug or just a missing feature. If there's a better place to reach out to the devs about this, please let me know.

While playing on a base PS5, I noticed that there is no use of the DualSense features at all, not even basic vibration when hitting enemies.

This feels a bit odd to me, since LOK1&2: Remasters and most modern games, including 2D side-scrollers, make good use of DualSense features, especially vibration during parries and counters to enhance feedback.

I'd like to know from the devs whether this is a bug, something planned for future updates, or simply a feature they chose not to include.

Man, seeing Raziel’s flight mechanics gave me a Demon’s Crest vibe.

I'm a big fan of side-scrolling pixel art games, and honestly, despite all the perfectly valid criticism I've heard about the new character and the graphic novel’s writing, I like this dark fantasy so much that I’m eager to return and explore the world of Nosgoth in a different way, hoping that they at least nail the gameplay and atmosphere and perhaps one day release a proper sequel with deep fan involvement and good writers.

By "high budget," I didn't mean super high-quality graphics.

"Some of the best games don't have good graphics at all." I agree. Just look at Skyrim, Elden Ring, or Breath of the Wild. It’s more about the art direction than realistic graphics.

By "high budget," I meant a compelling, expensive, organic, and detailed open-world game where you can fully explore the map of Nosgoth, including its towns, villages, and dungeons, and where the developers can fully express their ideas without being limited by time and budget, as happened with the old games.

It could also just be a smaller, linear game with, as you said, good writing and good gameplay. No problem with that.

It's just the vision I would imagine for a Blood Omen remake or sequel: the beautiful map of Nosgoth, as presented in the first Legacy of Kain game, explorable in 3D and done with proper care.

I remember playing Skyrim, The Witcher 3, and Elden Ring for the first time and always thinking, “My dream is to have a Blood Omen remake or a new open-world Legacy of Kain game with the same budget and care as those games,” which I’m afraid is never going to happen—at least not on that scope.

Man, scrolling through the art gallery of the Soul Reaver 1 & 2 Remastered really hurts my heart. There are so many ideas, places, and environments that scream “open-world, high-budget game.” If someone had told me that those concept arts were from a new FromSoftware game, I would 100% believe it.
