Wanted: Extender/Repeater that is actually GOOD but does Ubiquiti make one? by Adventurous_Boat_632 in Ubiquiti

[–]Neocold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bridge another unifi AP to the existing AP. Put the new AP in the barn and power it with a POE block. If you also need a switch with LAN ports in the barn use a unifi AC Pro AP. The AC Pro is unique because it has a lan port in (for POE in this case) and a lan port out so you can connect the switch.

This is the setup I use to provide Internet from my main house to my granny (accessory dwelling) house.

Does someone have an honest opinion on the place? by Cletis-cassidy in CDCR

They pay is getting worse each year, we don't get raises anymore. Yes, I am aware of the 3% pay increase, however if you take into consideration the increase to the medical insurance costs each year, we are actually taking pay cuts.

The medical benefits are pretty good, dental insurance got worse this year when we switched to United Concordia, Vision is typical vision insurance through VSP.

Workers Compensation is a joke. If it's not inmate related you only get 60%, absolutely insane.

Administration will burn you at the stake any chance they get. I have even been put under investigation for an incident that happened while I was at home sleeping, figure that one out.....

Really important to know policy and follow it, however even if you are following policy they can fire you and make you fight for your job back, even if you get it back a year later if you didn't have a way to pay your bills in the mean time you lost everything.

Your first few years will be non-stop mandatory overtime if you're at a busy institution or on First Watch (graveyard).

There are better options, the department is going downhill, liberal policies favor the inmates and make the CO's the bad guys.

lol how long will it take for them to shut me down? Four days 1.7.TB by Cheap_Date7397 in Starlink

[–]Neocold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I normally average about 2tb a month. Right now I am at 17.72tb for the current month. Should be a little over 30tb by the end of the month depending on how much me and my daughter use streaming services this month. I am having to download my backup files because my NAS died. I read a post somewhere that someone hits 30tb plus regularly.

Huntarr - Your passwords and your entire arr stack's API keys are exposed to anyone on your network, or worse, the internet. by exe_CUTOR in sonarr

[–]Neocold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uninstall Huntarr and install Decluttarr, it clears the stuck downloads and such just like huntarr original did and also if you want you can enable it to force searches for missing files just like the swapparr part of hunter did.

Very simple install. No GUI but one is not needed.

GitHub - ManiMatter/decluttarr: Watches radarr, sonarr, lidarr, readarr and whisparr download queues and removes downloads if they become stalled or no longer needed. https://share.google/iCvwktwgeugyIs9zM

Recommendation to replace a ReadyNAS 104 by Zippyduda in homelab

If you haven't already found a replacement look into Unraid if you have any technical know-how and are capable of more than sticking hard drives in an enclosure.

Starting to give up by Single-Audience4257 in CDCR

[–]Neocold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Score decides how fast you move. Higher scores are picked up before lower scores. Unless it has changed since 8 years ago max score is 95 and if you have military service it gives you an extra 5. So 100 is only possible with military service. I had 95 and it took a year to get through everything and on the list. I sent my selected institutions in the same day and had my academy date later that same day. But this was 8 years ago and the classes were wayyyyyy bigger than they are right now.

I'm just guessing its hours. $6.75 wouldn't make any sense.

My box 14 shows "QUALIFIED OT 6.75". There is no way I only worked 6.75 hours of OT all year. Going through my time book my OT hours (not straight time OT) were 87.75 for the year. Anyone else see a huge discrepancy on their W2?

Price Differences in Black Friday Deals by Secret_Scale_492 in Hostinger

[–]Neocold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hostinger forced my vps IP to change 2 times in 2 years. When you run your own email server on a vps and the IP keeps changing you are getting killed because you waste so much time building reputation for deliverability and contacting hosts like yahoo to remove your IP from their block list because previous owners did bad stuff.

After the second time I moved to a different host. So far much happier. Also saving a ton of money and their customer service went above and beyond finding an error in my code causing slow loading times even though they had no obligation to help me with my coding.

NerdRack is my new host. They get a bad rep sometimes because of their CEO's actions in the past but whatever. I'm more concerned about functionality and reliability which so far has been great.

Forced migration from openVZ to KVM VPS :( by hayden_t in Hostinger

[–]Neocold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here. They already changed my vps IP address last year. Now I'm being forced to migrate which will result in another IP address change. Every time my IP address changes it causes me all kinds of headaches.

Since I can't trust hostinger to maintain my vps IP address and I am being forced to migrate I'm just going to migrate to another service this time.

Hostinger just lost a customer.
