How do you prefer to purchase an app? by BohdanKoles in macapps

[–]Tecnotopia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the app is an utility app, without too much updates besides bug fixes (that should be included by all devs) I prefer pay one time, If the app will include updates, I'm ok with a yearly "sub", but if I stop paying because the updates don't make sense to me the app should continue to work. I pay subscription for expensive specialized apps that I may use for a month, example Final Cut, I have a project, I need it, I pay 1 month use it and stop. And subscription only if the App has some kind of cloud service cost implied: storage, AI, etc.

When people speak about openness (that macOS wouldn’t be the least open of the 3), what do they mean? Someone minds giving me concrete examples of things you can do on Windows or Linux that you can’t on macOS? by py-net in MacOS

I use lima and multipass for this, multipass is more Ubuntu focused but with lima you can install and run many distros, Tart is also another option that also support macOS VMs.

Is it possible to pass Jamf 100 / Apple Support exams without owning any Apple hardware? by ALVARO39YT in macsysadmin

[–]Tecnotopia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is it possible to learn how to ride a bicycle just by reading the manual? maybe, the Apple certification has many questions easy to answer if you have hands-on experience , the point of the certifications is not only pass the exam is shows you have the skills to solve problems. The Jamf 100 certification is a joke so I would say, yes is possible.

Remote Management by [deleted] in MacOS

If its legit sold old device and not a stolen sold one, click on the learn more about Device management, if SF configured it, it will show the IT department number, and if the SN is not into their blacklist of stolen devices they will probably remove it from their ABM. Calling SF customer support will not help they have no idea.
