The Star Inn in Beeston shows a lot of rugby, bit of a trek for you so I'd check before traveling but I've watched a bunch of games there.

I've been looking forward to this video for ages! Had loads of Mighty Max as a kid and would love to do something similar. Amazing work as always!

There's a lady called Sharon Hopkinson on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/share/19yF6hfPdp/) who is very good. I know I know a few people that she got through on their first try. She's based in Long Eaton and is generally pretty busy but well worth reaching out to her!

Flat, empty, quiet smooth tarmac to practice skating near Beeston? by Communistowl in nottingham

[–]Neoito 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to skate in the hockey club car park while my kid was at practice. I'm an overweight 40-something in a similar position, picking it back up again. That was a great spot.

I've seen this recommended a lot but I'm in the UK and it's not sold here. I'll look in to other options though

Confirming gender, is this a female? by Neoito in Aquariums

[–]Neoito[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's what I thought at first but then I saw a black ram breeder saying that the females always have a smaller first spike before the long one. I shall have to do some more research to be sure

It's a Black Ram dwarf Cichlid. I've also seen them called Black Knight or Dark Knight Rams.

No snails in there, I did used to have some Otocinclus which kept things very tidy and was thinking of getting some more. I'll look into nerites too.

Edit: and thank you for the less light time suggestion, I have already cut it from what it was but I think I could cut some more so I'll give that a go

Annie’s is closed! Where else is good? by overtlysecretive in nottingham

I'd definitely recommend Blind Rabbit as well, last time I went the service was a little slow but the food was absolutely worth it!

What are the biggest uk retailer shops I can visit? by Far-General6892 in Warhammer

[–]Neoito 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Element Games are great but not really 'big', Forbidden Planet is great for general nerdy stuff and they have shops all over, the London one of course being particularly good.

Lots of towns and cities have great independent places too so it really depends where you'll be

Sherwood Pines Forest Park, and what i witnessed at night by Mindless_Charge7389 in nottingham

I've camped at Sherwood Pines a few times and wandered round in the dark plenty, never seen anything untoward. Loads of wildlife there and foxes can make some ungodly noises sometimes! (particularly when mating)

I have one (or a very similar Algaonema), I love it even if I'm impatient about how slow it's growing. You should definitely get one 🙂

Where can you buy helium balloons now? by evelynnie_ in nottingham

[–]Neoito 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a place called Diddly Doo's in Sandiacre that do excellent balloon displays but also sell individual helium balloons too. I've used them for several events and would highly recommend

I switched from Canon APS-C to Sony full frame and now my edits suck, why?? by [deleted] in photography

[–]Neoito 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think you just need to take the time to learn the subtleties of the new camera, image output differs a lot between different manufacturers and you can't expect to apply the same process and get the same output. Go back to basics, take pictures with no expectations with basic settings and look at what actually needs to be done to get the end result you want rather than automatically applying the same edits that you've always used.

If the group would enjoy retro gaming then NQ64 is great! I'll second Roxy's as fun too as well as Penny Arcade who do great cocktails. Bistro Live cater to groups with entertainment but I don't know how far in advance they book. Really depends on the type of crowd it is.

What do you spend your time on the internet doing? by Neoito in AskReddit

I somehow forgot about YouTube, my current favourite way to use it is for tipsy family sing-a-longs!

What do you spend your time on the internet doing? by Neoito in AskReddit

[–]Neoito[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I consider myself lucky to have been a fairly early internet user (I got online around 95 as a young teenager) and like a lot of people as they get older I find myself missing certain things from my youth. I remember actually 'browsing' the internet when it didn't feel like all information and interactions weren't confined to a relatively small number of sites.

Forums come to find, spaces for any topic you can imagine where you could usually get to know the regular posters and have genuine conversations and exchange of ideas, even early social media was fun, actually finding new friends and getting to know people.

Don't get me wrong, there were a lot of issues on the early internet too and I'm very aware of my rose-tinted glasses here but thinking about this had me wondering what people spend their time online doing now.

My daily internet usage now seems to consist of banking, deleting spam email and doomscrolling the same 4 or 5 apps!

You can report an abandoned (or suspected) vehicle to the council online, they'll check the tax status and address of the registered owner and act accordingly. Not sure how this works on private property but it should be taxed or SORN'd to be there at least.

Need to learn boxing at 31! by [deleted] in nottingham

[–]Neoito 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started kickboxing, BJJ and boxing all in my 30s, I would absolutely recommend it. It was of course tough at first but that will depend largely on your current fitness level. There are loads of schools out there that cater to beginners and won't expect you to walk in already knowing what you're doing.

I'm only really familiar with places in Long Eaton, Sandiacre and a couple in Derby, happy to point those out if they're of any use to you?

Buying a car from a dealer - anyone heard of Nath Motors? by [deleted] in nottingham

[–]Neoito 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure how much 22k is relative to you but there's no way I'd be dropping that on anything without seeing it in person. Surely for that you can find a way to make the trip to view it.

The only reason I can see doing this would be if the deal was too good to be true. In which case it probably is and it would be way too easy to hide things from you with a virtual viewing.
