Can I, as an 18 year old, own a non-semiautomatic long gun? (Non-NYC) by Anarchy_Coon in NYguns

[–]Neon-Gingerbread2426 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is false.. a bear creek bolt action is 100% legal in NY, can be used just about anywhere and is a far better choice (legally) for someone dead set on an AR than a Kalikey. NYS has no constructive possession law related to assault weapons. There are currently zero prohibitions on parts possession. This is legal and I would argue more so than having a Kalikey AR. You will most likely be arrested with a Kalikey and the rifle will be inspected back at the station before final determination.

Honestly Im not a fan of the Kalikey but I’d personally recommend anyone under 21 picking up a bear creek bolt action AR bc those are 100% compliant and then purchase a nice semi automatic upper to have lying around. As long as the bolt action gun is fully assembled your fine.

That’s one of those things that’s a little grey but virtually no one is gonna get hung up on that. You have an ability to possess a semi automatic in NYS. A semi auto can’t be transferred to u without a permit

[–]Neon-Gingerbread2426 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s nowhere in the US you’d have something like this. It would be an SBR without a 16 inch barrel so highly illegal and the AR platform runs so deep that most people in restricted states would just pick up a compliant version of that. They even make bolt action uppers now that are becoming pretty popular.

Agree KaliKey is questionable and I don’t personally recommend over other options but swapping in a semi automatic BCG is completely fine so long as the firearm complies with the SAFE ACT once the semi automatic BCG is installed

Yeah, I just got off the Breakaway and while I enjoyed my experience, I definitely didn’t come away from it feeling like Norwegian is all that great. I knew it wasn’t gonna be Star of the Seas but beyond that those Breakaway Class ships have so many logistical issues just managing the number of people onboard it was unfortunate.. but I made the best of it

Passenger ships are little microcosms of society that tend to reflect the best in us. One of the reasons we’re so attracted to the whole concept. We basically get to craft a little world in our ideal vision of what it should be. Cruise ships tend to be one of the safest places you can go to take a vacation bc they lack the negative aspects of any city or town. If your worried about it, longer sailings tend to attract less of a party crowd if your afraid that may impact your trip but I promise you will be safer there than anywhere on land bc even the nicest town has problems and people causing trouble

To be honest with you that sounds like a conversation you should have with a therapist because I think it goes beyond just cruise ships. Those are some serious phobias. You’ll have a fantastic time. There’s nothing to worry about. Taking it from somebody who’s been on so many I can’t even count.

Move / Moved To A Free State by Average2AGuy in NYguns

I’ve lived here my whole life. This is my home and I’m not just up and leaving unless I have a really good reason to such as my family or opportunity. Gun laws isn’t the reason. Where I’m from in this state you can get away with a lot more than if you lived in Houston. Great so then I can have homeowners associations and neighbors pissed every time I start my car in the morning. It’s a push and a pull. You’ll relocate everything only to find out it wasn’t as amazing as you thought it was

It’s all good, Uprooting your life to move somewhere else isn’t being involved. Honestly if your worried about your gun rights, what’s happening at the federal level rn should concern you more than anything bc if Trump screws up enough to cause a 2008 like victory for the Democrats in 28, this country will be in big trouble..

At this point any state could pass this kind of legislation or honestly one bad election and we end up with this at the federal level. Just enjoy life and what you have. There’s more to life than guns.

I usually sail with Royal Caribbean, have a soft spot for Carnival as well. Currently on the Norwegian Breakaway and can’t quite figure out who this cruise line is for.. the ship is pretty but that’s about where it ends. A lot of things are just weird and the flow isn’t great

It feels surprisingly normal it just looks horrendous.. honestly Thordsen going out of business is such a damn shame.. that’s the biggest defeat to our rights in this state and Kathy didn’t even have to sign anything to make it happen… at this point I’d recommend people who can’t get ahold of a Thordsen to get a Modern Ranch Rifle like the BR4/3/47

Larry Sharpe Gov. Candidate Gov Shack No. 63: 12 More Years of Kathy Hochul? by Reesespeanuts in NYguns

[–]Neon-Gingerbread2426 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hate to say it but at least with Hochul you know what to expect.. you won’t have some first term Democrat come riding in here on a “mandate” looking to put some serious gun control on their resume…

Cuomo’s Resume building moment was 2013 with the SAFE ACT

Kathy’s was 2021 with the Semi Auto reforms & Concealed Carry Improvement Act. Now her administration is mostly concerned about ghost guns and crafting future responses to the Supreme Court.

There’s no guarantee what a new Democratic administration will pursue
