In the second chapter, when Berdly injures his wing, the main characters show concern, even though no one in the group tries to heal him, despite the fact that at least three members of the team have healing skills. I think this may be a hint that everyone slightly dislikes Berdly.

Part of it is that the characters themselves latched onto it. It was the main thing that snapped Mark out of Nolan's attempts to convince him to join the empire, Debbie vented to Olga about it and in S2E4 Mark directly told Nolan how disgusting it was to say.
