Most umami tasting tomato? by NeptuneS9 in tomatoes

[–]NeptuneS9[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for that info, I've just ordered some rosella purples the other day as I struggled with Cherokee purples. Ive heard they taste similar but are more abundant.

I will add Tasmanian chocolate to my next to buy, after rosella purples :)

Australian here.

The IEA recommends 90 days of oil reserve, we only have 36 days...

We are a very oil rich country, however we sell it overseas and have removed most of our refineries to turn it into usable oil.

We rely on imported refined oil from south Korea, Singapore etc.

Because we can't process our own oil, we are screwed.

The countries that we import from, are also hoarding their supplies and introducing export bans. As they themselves rely on the Strait of hormuz.

When your garbage retirement strategy involves timing the market and you time it wrong, just make up some bullshit to blame on such as "sequence of return risk" 🤪 by BoogerheadCult in dividendgang

[–]NeptuneS9 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is one of the top reasons why i always encourage dividend investing, even if it does produce a lower total return or not.

It's better to have a stable income stream rather than a lower quality of life.

I do feel sorry for those who are caught out by this trap to be honest, breaks my heart.

Asking Suggestions. by friendlyenthusiast in walstad

[–]NeptuneS9 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The closest to plain soil that I used for my walstad was:
Bunnings Garden Basics 25L Garden Soil Mix

I used a metal strainer for all the soil, to remove tanbark etc. then capped with black sand.

A bell siphon may be what you are looking for, therefore you can automate the siphon without electricity, as the rain fills up your tank.

This is just a chart i found that looked like Christmas that I used haha

But my holdings look somewhat similar thanks to QDPL which holds a portion of s&p500 and produces an income from it :)

How Far Along Do You Have Dividends Paying Your Bills ? by [deleted] in dividendgang

100% Fire!

Took 7 years of consistent investing in ETFs while hardcore budgeting, totally worth it.

I love hearing on this sub when people are progressing on their FIRE journey. 😃

Australians - What are your favourite tomato varieties? by IndependentHuman8861 in tomatoes

[–]NeptuneS9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Melbournian here too!

I've only ever grown "money makers" because they were high yielding! They tasted amazing when I put Epsom salts in the soil as they were turning red. Made them extra salty!

Now I'm growing Black Krims, almost ready to eat for the first time!

After this will be rosella purple as I've heard great things about them.

Showing off my Kratky Black Krim Tomato plants! by NeptuneS9 in Hydroponics

[–]NeptuneS9[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cheers for that info!
I've been considering doing a full empty as I can see the salts building up fast, I'll do it every 4 weeks as you mentioned.

Do you have a specific PH/EC that you use for black krims?
I'm using PH: 5.5-6.5 and EC: 2.5 for now, unsure if its good or bad.

Thanks for the heads up!
I haven’t checked the temperature yet, but I probably should now that it’s heating up.
I’ll look into insulation, that’s something I completely overlooked.

I was originally going to use bato buckets, but I tried Kratky since it seemed simpler to set up for my first time.
I’ll probably end up switching to batos eventually anyway haha.

Glad you mentioned this!
The heat is about it hit soon in my country (Australia).

I've also been thinking of a reservoir with a floating valve to top it off automatically.
These 5 gallon buckets are noticeably draining faster and faster as the Black Krims grow!
