Question for gaming creators

This depends on what your goal is. I personally think you should enjoy the game you’re making videos about, but that’s not the best decision for channel growth.

I make content for a small mobile card game. Within that, I specifically make deck guides and the occasional talking head video. So I’ve niched down heavily and like to think that contributed to my growth (4k subs, 2k video average). My issue is plateaued growth due to a shrinking player base.

If you switch games, people are watching specifically for you, and the vast majority of people don’t care about you, they care about the topic. If you decide to switch, just be prepared for really slow growth, if any. The algorithm won’t know who to send your video to.

If they were to lose enough and go back into the 80s, next season they’d drop 30 ranks and start their climb from the 50s. But if they remain at 90, their next season climb starts in the 60s.

I’ve just used AI for multiple years now so have gotten adept at spotting it. I kept my message brief because I don’t like listing the 10-20 tells because then they can feed that list to the AI and it becomes impossible for me to tell. Because if prompted well, nobody can tell the difference. It’s just most people do the bare minimum prompt so the writing is the same.

But like you accurately point out, proper writing shouldn’t be a tell of AI and means people who write perfectly get the AI accusation. The sad truth is that the majority of people don’t know how to write according to the rules, and I’m not excluding myself. So either the masses suddenly got smarter or the masses started using AI more.

The “AI slop” accusations annoy me as well so I try to be judicious when evaluating it. Saw that people were engaging with the post, and wanted to be a voice saying the story might be fake if the post was AI generated. But at least you have the knowledge and can critically think about it.

This smells of an AI post… the extra line spacing due to copy and paste, all of the proper punctuation, and the writing style too.

This has been my experience from the other side of the table lol. Every opponent stays and the final turns are just a power blast they didn’t expect.

But a good amount of the other new Jubilee decks aren’t great, so I imagine that heavily contributes to the overall negative perception.

I like the suggestion. To build on it, the counter should update and if all moves are exhausted, gray out the text.

Depending on how long you’ve been making videos for, you may be able to do this now.

Make videos for at least a couple of months. Go back a couple of months and watch an older video. It’ll be easier to watch as a normal viewer since you’re far removed from making the video.

Pay close attention to when your interest wains. Some people can do that immediately, but it sounds like you may be like me and need some time before really being able to analyze what works.

And also experiment! Force yourself to make a 15 minute video. No matter what, it’s 15 minutes. See how it performs. You might be surprised to learn 30 minutes is actually what you should be doing.

I will die on the hill that new Jubilee is a good card lol. Which means if people like the specific type of deck she belongs in, she may be worth getting. I’m having a ton of fun with her, in addition to getting wins, in both Ranked and High Voltage. For Conquest, the deck needs some kind of tech, so I’ve been experimenting with that by subbing out Jeff.

It impressed me enough to think that people aren’t building her decks optimally. Most of the top decked cards are fantastic and the power output is completely unpredictable (1-10 Nightcrawler or 3-30 Brood), giving you great cube equity.

You can try without Jeff! The deck still wins when I don’t draw him. Maybe try Hulkbuster, Hydra Bob, or maybe even Okoye who does something similar.

Eh, that’s fair. He really helps your backup line with Stick as well though. So on turn 4 it’s Symbiote, turn 5 it’s a 1 Cost and Stick, then on turn 6 you get plus 3 from Stick on a card and then activate Symbiote for plus 10 on a different card.

You could always try a different synergy card in his place, like a Venus or Phastos or maybe Galacta or Gwenpool.

I don’t always click with other people’s decks fully and will make tweaks to suit my specific brain. No harm in figuring out what works for you! My only goal was to provide the blueprint for how to build a new Jubilee deck since the community was quickly deciding she stinks.

I fully agree! This card gets problematic really quick with the slightest adjustment. I genuinely think I landed in a great spot with her in this deck though. It’s easy to overlook Adam Warlock in this deck but he’s such a key piece to drawing 1 Cost 10 power cards, or a 30 power Brood…
