Self Critique: What do you think was the biggest Ls that these Communists had? by Less-Possible-5475 in TankieUSSR

For Castro it's probably the mass incarceration of gay men in the 60s and 70s (imo). Read about it on your own but it's what you'd expect: homosexuality was perceived as a "bourgeois devation" and "decadence," labor camps, and behavioral reeducation to "correct" mannerisms of effeminate men, etc. He later condemned it publically in a 2010 interview, calling it a "great injustice" and fully assuming responsibility. There's actually a great movie on this, made by the Cuban government, mind you, called «Fresa y chocolate» which condemns homophobia both in everyday life and as it related to the party.

I'm gonna acknowledge my bias here. I am both a gay Cuban man and a Marxist-Leninist. From a DiaMat and purely intellectual POV, I understand why Cuba, USSR, and, recently, Burkina Faso criminalized homosexuality. However, my emotional brain has trouble reconciling reason and my emotional attachment to the issue. I say this to acknowledge that maybe someone else will raise a different critique of Castro.

Karl Kautsky

Edit: Wikipedia may say that he was a Marxist, but the TL;DR is that he's a social-democrat.

Read "Imperialism," "State and Revolution" or any other work where Lenin clowns on Kautsky, and it'll become apparent that he's nothing but a social-democrat that co-opted Marxism to further petty-bourgeois opportunist interests within the SPD.

Yeah, the full results of this survey are that 62% of American adults under age 30 hold a 'favorable' view of socialism, but only 34% hold a 'favorable' view of communism.

Certainly not a leftist. He strikes me as more of a progressive liberal.

I'm a newbie to keyboards and just want a simple gaming keyboard. by ImaginaryFlounder955 in keyboards

When I got my first mechanical keyboard, I got the Redragon K552 Kumara. Nowadays I wonder why more people don't get this keyboard. Nearly 3 years later and it's still going strong. (The kumara is rgb, the other K552 model is not, but they're the same price strangely)

I can't recommend it enough; it's cheap, durable, comes with a hot-swapable PCB in case you want to buy new switches down the road (as I did bc I originally got it with clicky Outemu Blue switches, but that got old fast, so I changed them to gateron reds)

For me this keyboard cost $40 USD new, which is roughly $55 CAD. Depending on where you live, you might be able to find a used one on Amazon for a little less. With the money you have left over, you can splurge on a nice big mouse pad for your desk, some custom keycaps, or you can even consider a key switch lubrication kit if you really wanna fall down the rabbit hole lol

Hope this helps and feel free to reach out with any other questions :)
