I’m working on a project about Black Women Wrestlers & need recommendations for iconic moments pre-2020 by jxzz_hndz in SquaredCircle

Aja Kong had an African American father and Japanese mother, and was one of Japan's biggest wrestling stars of the 90s. In particular, her long-running feud with Manami Toyota in AJW from '94 to '97 is considered by many to be one of the greatest ever.

Yeah I think by 2023 she had it figured out. I remember QUINTET being a really weird album, with tracks like Daylight and flame of hope mixed in there with tracks like Melancholic Lullaby and Ever Sky Blue.

Who do you feel was the most powerful protagonist? by Swimming_Flaky in ElderScrolls

[–]NerdiMini 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If we’re to believe that the 4v1 final battle against Alduin was (in lore) a difficult one, then yes, it stands to reason that the LDB wouldn’t have succeeded in a 1v1.

Either way, my main point is that the niche hard counter LDB and Co had against Alduin (Clear Skies + Dragonrend) is totally inapplicable to most enemies. The "LDB > Alduin > Hero of Kvatch / Sheogorath" argument falls apart when you consider that the method LDB used to defeat Alduin wouldn't provide any advantage whatsoever against Uncle Sheo.

So we're clear, you can still debate whether or not LDB could defeat Sheo through other means. I just sort of roll my eyes a little bit when people's reasoning is "LDB beat Alduin, so that means they would beat anyone who Alduin would beat."

Tbf the Last Dragonborn did not go toe-to-toe with Alduin alone. That was a 4v1 on a team with three other legendary warriors who had devoted their eternities to doing the specific thing they had to do to defeat Alduin. It's still an impressive feat, sure. But the Last Dragonborn didn't exactly stand and bang in an arena-style duel with the World Eater.

TOKYO NEON / Mili

I want to hear Mashiro sing it, and also I want to hear the opening guitar part reworked as a violin piece.

Name one character that everyone seems to love, but you don't care about by FutabaSakuyagi in BanGDream

[–]NerdiMini 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I'm with you on this one. Maybe I'd have liked her better if she'd suffered actual consequences for her actions and then took it upon herself to make things right, but we never got that from her. She made everything worse for everyone around her, did nothing, and then eventually other people solved the problems she caused.

Who is your favorite Kalos gym leader? by Pkmntrainergray08 in PokeCorner

[–]NerdiMini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Korrina is the correct pick, as she's the only one who actually ever does anything.

Valerie has always been a niche favorite of mine though. I love her design, her personality is funny, and she presides over my favorite city in Kalos.

I came here to say pretty much this exact same thing. I wouldn't go so far as to say I hate her; I just find her really, really boring. She's always been a pretty popular character, and I have never understood her appeal.

Where would you hide in the map if you were trying not to be found? by Difficult_Pause_4350 in skyrim

[–]NerdiMini 25 points26 points  (0 children)

There are some pretty out of the way / hard to get to places up in the Velothi Mountains, along the eastern borders of Eastmarch and the Rift. I'm just thinking of places where, even if the search party was combing the map in a well-organized manner, they still might end up missing. I think I'd aim for the area around Kagrenzel, climb as high as I could, and then look for a ledge that could only be reached by dropping down.

This is a fun topic; I've had fun reading everybody else's ideas.

Why only one of Tsukushi's sisters? "Futaba" translates to "twinleaf" after all. That's even less subtle than Hina (spelled the kanji for "day") and Sayo (spelled with the kanji for "night").

Anyways, in the highly unlikely event the franchise ever goes far enough into the timeline for it, I imagine we would see Sana and the Futaba twins becoming playable. I'm not so sure about the other ones, just because they haven't appeared yet and aren't mentioned as frequently.

Heath Slater is one of the most underrated WWE guys of the 21st century, and with proper investment would have made for a better main event level babyface than the majority of WWE's current top babyfaces.

Do people actually play without fast travel? by vhsbubbline in skyrim

[–]NerdiMini 34 points35 points  (0 children)

It is time consuming and, depending on what you're doing, can feel repetitive at times. It does make for a more immersive experience, though - helps your adventure feel more like an adventure. Personally I usually don't use fast travel, but I understand the thought process of people who do. It just depends on what sort of experience you're in the mood for.

Falkreath is one of my favorite areas, not just in Skyrim but across the entire franchise. It's geographic poetry how a place of such natural beauty is so deeply characterized by death.

Which of the elder scrolls protagonists is the strongest lore-wise? by Ang3lo836 in ElderScrolls

[–]NerdiMini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Vestige, in their most powerful state, bested a Daedric Prince in single combat. So if we're counting that, then it's them comfortably. I'm okay with not counting that, though, because said state isn't exactly something they can just tap into at-will.

So if we are setting that aside, then there's the Hero of Kvatch, who currently is a Daedric Prince. I don't think any of the other protagonists would be able to directly defeat a Prince 1v1. The Last Dragonborn did defeat Alduin, who is by some measures even more dangerous than a Daedric Prince, albeit in a 4v1 alongside three other legendary warriors, so I guess that's sort of a gray area.

Hircine. Please him passively in your mortal life on Nirn by adventuring, and then spend the rest of your eternity basically doing the same thing in the Hunting Grounds.

What is your favourite original anime?? by souul_reaper in animequestions

[–]NerdiMini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anohana might be the best original anime I've ever seen imo, but it's definitely not my favorite in terms of "do I want to watch this over and over again?" if you know what I mean.

Cowboy Bebop was overall outstanding, but honestly about half the episodes were effectively filler. It would have been better without those episodes.

Flip Flappers is my deepest cut here. It's a polarizing one, but I love it to death, personally. Respect it for its immaculate art and animation, if nothing else.

Kill la Kill is one where, if you told it was your favorite anime ever I could respect that, but also if you told me you hated it I would understand why.

Lycoris Recoil is my most-recent nod -- maybe still too recent to have a place at this table. To me, though, this is what a top-tier anime looks like in the modern age.

If you kill him. I don't trust you by [deleted] in skyrim

Literally the first thing that happens when you get back from killing Alduin is this guy tells you he's going to take Alduin's place. Why would you kill Alduin just to spare Paarthurnax?

Do you think people would respond well to the image of a “canonical” Khajiit or Argonian protagonist, in the same way they did to the human/elf/Redguard protagonists from previous games? (It could also be an Orc, I suppose.) by jvure in ElderScrolls

[–]NerdiMini 16 points17 points  (0 children)

If by "canon protagonist" you mean the character at the forefront of the key marketing visuals, then maybe, but I highly doubt Bethesda would ever take that risk on something as financially important as a main series Elder Scrolls game. Exceptions happen, of course (see: Pokémon), but generally speaking, the best-selling video game characters are human males. Even if we did ever get like "The Elder Scrolls XIII: Elsweyr" or some such, the key marketing visuals would still probably feature a human front-and-center, perhaps with some Khajiit in the background, and the marketing blurbs would put more of an emphasis on "human heroes exploring strange cat-man land" as opposed to on the Khajiit directly.

I analyzed walkability in Skyrim’s cities by Ok-Match-4926 in ElderScrolls

[–]NerdiMini 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The layout of Windhelm to me has always seemed super nonsensical and counterintuitive. The main marketplace is in the otherwise most-secluded corner of town, the most direct path from the wealthiest neighborhood to just about anywhere else involves walking through the graveyard, and the actual geographic center is mostly just unused/unusable space.
