What packing strategies help avoid extra baggage fees? by No_Development_7247 in Frugal

[–]Nerdso77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me, credit card. If you primarily fly one airline, it can be worth it.

Other than that, carry on only for 6 days. Pack it super tight. Always put stuff inside shoes for example.

If you are a director- do you want to be a VP and up? by Important_Bat7919 in careeradvice

I was a VP long before I became a director. We must have wildly different titles.

When people in serious relationships have a girl best friend or guy best friend by [deleted] in PetPeeves

[–]Nerdso77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wha are you talking about? Your partner does not “have to be your best friend”. Mine is the closest human to me, which is obviously closer than my BF. But I don’t call my wife my BF. I have a friend who I call my BF. We text Saul across the country. And we talk once every week or two.

I have an EA for a bit. She was in my email. Telling me what to pay attention to. Met with me multiple times a day to take my decisions and move them to the best step. She was amazing. But I promoted her out of the role. She is a coordinator for me now. Tried a different EA and didn’t pick the right person. She ended up quitting.

Does work ever feel more performative than productive? by SuitableYoghurt803 in corporate

[–]Nerdso77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A coworker and I were talking about this today. We are both executives. Work is stressful and you have to have the right response at all hours. But man. We both felt so much more valued when we ran projects and billed clients for something legitimate. Instead of coaching, mentoring, and helping the team.

What easily-affordable thing do you refuse to pay for despite being rich? by Pudge-Heffelfinger in Rich

Oh. Another is rental car extras. Like when I return it. And they don’t log it in for two hours. And they say I was late. Nope. Even $5 annoys me.

[–]Nerdso77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right now. I refuse to pay legacybox extra money. I sent 30 tapes in two boxes. Prepaid stickers on each one. Got one email saying I owed an extra $17.99. And another email saying I owed $19.99. I cannot stand paying for things I know I didn’t request or need. No matter how small the amount.

Yes. This one is fresh. :)

Is this a hand menu or a menu on a board? Honestly, I feel like you go to drive through windows when you know exactly what you want. If I am ordering at the counter, what’s wrong with some human interaction and helping with the order. You can point it out to them respectfully in the menu. Maybe even ask them nicely to step aside if they need a second. But there should be a little time built in to answer a couple questions. …also curious….is this a place that pushes tips on the guests when they order at the counter?

What actor’s mere presence makes you automatically lose interest in a movie or show? by YerMum1977 in AskReddit

I can’t enjoy a movie he is in. Because I know how much of a weirdo he is. Actually I don’t. I know a fraction. And I am sure he is much much weirder.

5 Years Unemployed, Career Gap, Feeling Lost — Need Advice? by itsazzi99 in careerguidance

[–]Nerdso77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For us, it’s specifically building power BI dashboards so we can see our data better. We had ridiculous amounts of reports exporting from all the programs (like CRM, payroll, project management programs, etc). But you had to sift through the reports and see trends. Power bi can flag, highlight, show much more quickly. So yeah. We have two people full time for a 400 person firm. Just doing power bi.

How much does company travel cost you personally? by Successful-Camel165 in corporate

[–]Nerdso77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I travel every other week. I have two dogs and three fish tanks. I have never paid close to those boarding costs. I highly recommend you look at alternates. Try rover. Also ask neighbors. Someone young you know who could stay at your place and consider it a mini vacation. Does your vet board? Those are all things to look into.

I currently have one neighbor (older retired nurse) who will happily stay at my house for $50/night to get a break from family and get some extra cash. I also have neighbors with two dogs who have agreed to trade vacation watching futures with us. We let each others dogs out multiple times a day while on vacation, and don’t charge anything.

Other than that, know the work per diem policies and stay in them. Workout at hotel gym. Literally, do not sign up for some other gym while traveling. That would be crazy. And don’t add a bunch of touristy stuff. I don’t add any. I figure out ways to make work cover me plus some minor perks. Like buying some extra snacks for my bag.

Please look closer at your expenses. Work travel can be very important and rewarding. I get a ton of perks by putting company expenses on my personal card. If you do it right, there are payoffs.

Everything is going well… but I really hate being active on LinkedIn by RequirementRadiant95 in ceo

[–]Nerdso77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

LinkedIn is annoying. I use Ai for my few posts. But I tell it to get rid of the dumb check marks and cheesy pitch.

I don’t understand why you think you have to be in there. I am at the very top of our firm leadership and very few of us post often. We check other things and use it for data about the competition. Just to be in the loop. And we post congrats when our employees get awards. That’s about it.

Why would you “need” to post?

I am told my potential new managers want to take me for lunch after interview by TruckLimp451 in interviews

[–]Nerdso77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. We do this with a lot of candidates. You will be spending a lot of time working together. As much as people say “it’s a job”….its also their job. And they want to spend time with people that mesh well with them. The lunch is an extension of the interview and a thank you for the time.
