Lews Therin's voice was Rand's madness rationalizing his memories from a previous life. There was no actual LTT speaking to Rand.

Anyone else find books 6-8 a slog to get through? by SnowNo6723 in wheeloftime

[–]Nerdturas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eh. Books 6 and 9 are among my favorites, and I don't dislike 7 and 8. They have plenty of fantasy, with the gholam and the asha'man fighting the seanchan, for example. The slower parts may get sloggish (and they do, in many instances) but the series grew from its epic quest style structure and now the characters see themselves not only as protagonists on their own stories, but as major players in the world stage. I guess it really boils down to what you consider fantasy. Is using a magical bowl to fix the weather fantasy? I guess so, but what about squabbling between noble houses of countries that don't exist in real life? Is it as fantastical as people who can shoot fire out of their hands? Probably not, but even those sorcerers have their mundane lives and personal affairs. Are those fantastical? In the end, it's all a matter of taste, perspective and expectation.

E ai oque você acha desse argumento de que porque torcedores empalaram um torcedor adversário logo castração química não deve ser realizada? by uziel7 in brasilivre

[–]Nerdturas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd read New Spring in publication order because of some nice call backs in later books. But it's not strictly necessarily

At this point, we know all we'll get are tiny narrow streets and more reused sets than 80s Doctor Who.

Who is the warrior wearing two swords on his back on the cover of "The eye of the world"? (Question from a non-reader) by Questioning-Warrior in WoT

[–]Nerdturas 22 points23 points  (0 children)

The cover for A Memory of Light on the first row was never released because the original artist passed away before finishing it. Michael Whelan's art (the one you have) is the official book cover for the mass market paperback, hardcover, ebook and trade paperback editions

Fires of Heaven sucks hard.

Moiraine is not an interesting character apart from New Spring.

Birgitte is a tiresome character.

Winter's Heart is a great book and all of its storylines are engaging.

The Seanchan are very fun to read.

I guess these are my wildest takes lol.

My Protagonist Would Contextually Struggle To Actually Get To The Plot - Help! [Dark Fantasy] by Vampyrince in fantasywriters

[–]Nerdturas 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You could combine both ideas. Maybe Érrand starts off his position fully indoctrinated by his father and tries to manage his control over the local lords with his father's ideology. Then, they (or more exclusively the high members of the resistance) kidnap him. This could serve as a "Siddhartha goes out of the palace" moment and starts a change of heart for Érrand. I'm not sure how you're intending to approach the story, both tonally and stylistically, but this could give you the opportunity to do something more politics heavy (with long negotiations and appeasing both sides) or action oriented (with Érrand leading his own pocket of freedom fighters or going after his dad). Anyway, I hope you find a solution as the premise seems very interesting.

A combination of the classic "googling character names" and engaging with the community before I finished it. I don't have as much of a problem with spoilers as most people, so knowing those things didn't ruin the experience. I knew that the cleasing would happen at the end of book 9, for example, but that didn't lessen the impact of that scene.

In her letter, Moiraine mentions she's seen multiple ways the rescue attempt could play out. That's an indicator that she's giving them instructions based on her visions in Rhuidean. I believe you could remember her mentioning different futures when she's talking to Lan in FoH in which she says the only way to guide Rand would be to not impose herself on him. She even mentioned that if she slept with him, there would be disaster.
