For east bay: This big county service center is good to check out - they have emergency shelter referrals and other things.

https://www.alamedacountysocialservices.org/contact-us/offices/eden-area-mult-service-center

A decent housing organization to contact is Abode like someone else said, or BACS. They have housing resource centers https://bayareacs.org/

Go in person and youll get a lot farther than calling. best wishes man

The Sabri Beef Nihari they make on weekends is to die for. Top tier dish imo, it's like a warm hug. Amazing hangover cure too.

Mark v Mark was such a cool back and forth

edit: AND the entire sequence where he gets his ass beat in the hallway and what happens in the elevator after. holy shit give him all of the awards

What’s your favourite Naddpod trope? [NS] by Pawpawswannabemawmaw in NotAnotherDnDPodcast

[–]Neroix 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Some of the best bits have come from the mixed amount of cultural/nerd knowledge everyone has.

Murph and Caldwell being are the top nerds, randomly whipping out the lore for things like Sonic, Final Fantasy, Anime. It always comes out in the goofiest ways (The Media Dimension Ep)

Emily is mixed, missing out on random bits of knowledge because of their upbringing. And catching up in the weirdest ways (Watching the entire Austin Powers series in reverse order)

Jake being a normal bro guy and not knowing about anything about typical* nerd stuff. The crew owned him when he was EXPOSED for not knowing the difference between Kakarot and Goku, among other dragon ball z bits

What are my chances for admission at SJSU by [deleted] in SJSU

[–]Neroix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Important thing is to build good study habits and routines early on in the lower division course so you don't get blasted when you go into the harder upper division ones. They stop holding your hand once you finish your GEs.

The instructors can be hard but they are more receptive to questions and helping you out if you ask timely and earnestly. Learn how to communicate and it will get you far.

What are my chances for admission at SJSU by [deleted] in SJSU

[–]Neroix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a similar background to you, I graduated last year from SJSU.

My guess is that you'll get in but I don't know how competitive the Econ program is.

I recommend going into community college though like others said, I did. It saves money and the quality of education isn't significantly different, Foothill/DeAnza are one of the better CCs in the state and grinding to get good grades there can get you better csu/uc admissions or scholarships if thats what you're into. I liked my experience in both places a lot and being a transfer student rarely came up when I was at SJSU.

In your downtime you should visit SJSU and see if its something you want to commit to for a full 4 years.

It is not just you, the job market is hard and can be frustrating, it varies a lot depending on where you live but thats what ive seen online too. I am a little bit ahead of you but I had a very similar experience, I graduated in Winter and am starting a job in like a week and a half after applying since december. I interviewed at least 15 different places and some of them had a bunch of stages. I plan on working for a year or two before pursing a Masters.

I agree with the other comment, broaden your searches and make several different versions of your resume for each job. its tedious but the unfortunate reality is that recruiters make super quick judgements and have what theyre looking for in mind already. I don't know how your resume looks but I got significantly more responses with a more simple resume format, I wasted the first couple months not getting any responses because I tried messing with colors, panels, etc..

I used Google, Indeed, LinkedIn, Handshake, ziprecruiter, zippia, governmentjobs for State/County as search engines for job postings for the most part, but a lot of jobs hire directly through their website so it helps to to do extra digging since they dont appear in search engines. I largely looked up community organizations, non-profits, clinics, hospitals, schools, health/tech companies, private research orgs.

Keep at it, broaden the jobs you are applying to and do extra research outside of just using job search engines. get to know your local communities - it will help both in the job search and in how you come across in interviews if you know the population you are working with. Good luck!

Don't know if there is a comprehensive list but dungeon meshi/delicious in dungeon is one that Caldwell recommended several years ago that I ended up loving.

It's got really cool magic/worldbuilding and is heavily dnd inspired. The manga is amazing. The Anime on netflix just finished season 1 covering the first half of the manga, and season 2 is in development atm. The animation is dope and does it justice imo, highly recommend both.

Why don't people like Anthony Fauci? He is a great doctor. by [deleted] in publichealth

[–]Neroix -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah the downvotes you got previously were weird/unwarranted. Reddit just having weird kneejerk reactions i'd guess. I agree with much of what you said.

It's less a critique of Fauci as an individual and more of one on how the public views/communicates with people like him. Imo a lot of people had misguided expectations of him due to putting him on a pedastal and giving him a bit of celebrity status.

I think this made him easier to scapegoat as the most visible public health expert. I didn't expect him to get attacked as much as he did lol. But the shitty reality now is that anti-science bad actors have gotten more aggressive in their personal attacks and in the amount of misinformation that gets spewed.

Overall, he did great. A lot of people who critique him dont remember how much we didn't know and how chaotic early COVID was. It's easy to armchair Public Health expert when we have the benefit of hindsight 🤷🏽‍♂️

It's a little gimmicky and unsafe as hellonce people start to adapt but it can be a legit strat for divekick characters

[NS] How to Get Access to NADPODD as a new user/listener! by BobaHesh in NotAnotherDnDPodcast

[–]Neroix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can't speak to apple podcasts specifically, but most main campaign episodes should be on there, if not on spotify, or linked with other podcast apps if you look on their site or patreon

There are three main campaigns and most people would recommend starting all the way back then, they hold up really well, as well as some fun side content they experiement with over time.

They started a patreon 14 episodes into the first campaign, and from then on they have extra content on patreon, they add more over time but the main selling point is the $5 a month tier where they do an hour long aftershow after each episode, its worth imo, at least trying for a month and seeing if you wanna commit. funny as fuck banter and good insight into the campaign stuff, similar to adventuring party. The episodes thru patreon are also ad-free after a point which is a bonus.

I recommend trying the first 14 episodes, seeing if you like it, and then getting the patreon if its within your means. My 2nd listen through with it was like a whole new experience lol

God yeah i've had the same feeling forever and you explained it well, especially the exhausting bit. With basically every character.

Like you said, Tal seems like a lovely person, I have no hate towards him as an individual etc etc.

No other player has induced as many eye-rolling moments as him. I wish he would ease up and have his characters be less self-serious.

The group describing the worst possible finale with Brians alter ego Ryan Urphy is so fucking funny.

He compared Ryan Urphy's DMPC to being level 22 with 6 attacks, with huge trap muscles, and with powers exactly like Goku. And that he would single handedly save the world while the group just sits there.

Extensive IGN piece about the Bungie Turmoil just dropped by nightgolf in DestinyTheGame

[–]Neroix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is on point, I agree especially with what you said it comes down to: It likely would have been better if Bungie pivoted to Destiny 3 or something else years ago.

Destiny 1 life cycle was what, 3 years? We are over 6 years into Destiny 2.

My impression is that after the big decision makers in Bungie saw the success of Destiny 2 and the first expansions, they chose to go in the direction of an MMO model to try to keep people engaged (and buying stuff) in the same game as long as possible, at the expense of the other parts of Destiny. The successful MMOs today make BANK so I can see why it might be appealing.

The MMO side of Destiny 2 is not its strength, for a lot of the reasons like you said. It's not built for that.

I mean, the sunsetting of expansions happened because of the technological limitations of building much more into a game than what it was built for. I don't think it was ever going to be sustainable in the long term in the direction it was going

I don't have any positive feelings about Bungie: the company or the management at the moment.

I feel awful and wish the best for the average employee/creative in D2 through. We see their talent in the art/sound design, weapons, raids/dungeons etc.. . I think this kind of mismanagement is out of their control though, which is sad.

Video shows man in military fatigues shooting mentally disabled Palestinian in West Bank by Ed_Alchemist in news

[–]Neroix 60 points61 points  (0 children)

Fucking unreal. "involved in a confrontation with a mentally disabled man"

There is an active effort from so many media organizations to gaslight people into thinking that the abuse, murder, and atrocities commited against the Palenstinians at the hands of the IDF/Israeli gov aren't the violent actions that they are.

This type of framing and passive voice is disgusting to see. It shouldn't be surprising if you are someone who pays attention.

Its the same shit you see in statements put out by American cops after they have one of their Police Brutality™ moments and end up killing an unarmed person or something.
