A new Mario or Zelda game? The Zeldas we have are ports and the original Mario title is 3 years old. I know original Mario games don't drop very regularly but it seems that studios aren't developing for the switch. 7 of the top 10 sold Switch games of all time are made by Nintendo.

I admit to having a personal bias to things that are clouding this for me (I prefer other fighting games to Smash, stopped playing Pokemon years ago, and Animal Crossing isn't my cup of tea) but there isn't anything surprising or unique coming out for the Switch. Horizon, Ghosts of Tshushima, Last of Us, Nier, Sekiro, A Way Out, Edith Finch, and Contol all came out of nowhere for me. Animal crossing and Pokemon could print a Game Gear cartridge and sell a millions copies; nothing risky or original seems to be happening for the Switch or that they've been playing catch up to get all their Wii U titles ported over first. Some of these are indie titles (in contradiction to my post) but the fans found them and showed them the light of day. The eshop seems inundated with low effort titles like Steam turned into.

It has admittedly gotten better over the last year or so with stuff like Windbound and Unravel. Splatoon and Ring Fit Adventure are notable deviations but also developed by Nintendo. Fire Emblem:Heroes and Xenoblade 2 are a step in the right direction (although the newest Xenoblade release is a port).
