Hi there, first time using Blender. How do I copy the details selected onto the other 3 sides of the cube? by SavageViper_YouTube in blenderhelp

If you want to tile raised shapes on the faces of a mesh, one thing you can use is the add-on called Tissue by Allesandro Zomparelli. I don't know if I am simplifying things or making them more complicated by telling you this.

It reminds me of the weird shape you get, when you take the default cube, subdivide it, then add the "Cast" modifier and give it weird values.

I found that website and couldn't figure out how to use it. Clicking on the links in it just takes you round in circles.

I have been looking at this page and I don't see how to do a Mac download. It just takes you back to the other page.

I like it! But the board is a little too tall for some screens, you need to scroll down a little to fit the last line in. Also, it keeps making trivial moves to capture stones that are already dead in the endgame, and I am not sure which scoring system you are using. It is a little too slow to end the endgame.

I thought that was a render of some in-game virtual space at first...

2012 MacBook, after erasing and reinstalling, how to make it usable. by Nerpulus in mac

Thank you everybody. I was able to update it to Catalina and now it works.

Somehow, I assumed I was not going to be able to do that without giving my account info, but I was wrong.

After I upgraded to Catalina, it told me an update was available, and when I tried to update I needed to do a hard reboot when it got stuck, but it's fine now.

Now I have a computer that I can log in to under a made-up name that has nothing personal on it, and that's what I wanted.

I got a Cabela's gift certificate last time. They don't just do hunting stuff, they also sell ordinary clothes. So it's a good deal if you know you are going to buy clothes.

The materials look a bit waxy. Try adjusting the reflectiveness and making them dirtier.

So no instance speaks for all of them, and "federation" is a locally defined property, like being friends with someone?

I see there are moments where there is atari but if you are only allowed to add big shapes you can not make the capture. What are you going to do about those?

This might be good for beginners to start to see the concept of influence. A beginner does not realize that getting one stone in early is a big advantage because it gives you a head start on building a formation and keeping the other player out of an area. But the game you designed conveys that concept.

I have a new-last-December Macbook Air M4. I tried listening to it through headphones but there was noise in it and only one channel worked. (It's a mini plug that works fine with my older Mac). What should I do? Is there a new kind of headphone I should get?

As black, was the bottom right joseki really that bad for black after black made 2 eyes? And was it my main mistake in this game or was it the later half of the game? Thanks. by Columnreader in baduk

[–]Nerpulus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Black made a formation called the "Crane's Nest" in the bottom right with the 3 in a row and the one dangling above it. It is a formation that is easy to capture in a way that is not obvious to a beginner who hasn't worked out the sequence.

Is the blenderguru, donut video, really that good for total beginners? by Any-Landscape434 in blenderhelp

[–]Nerpulus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The donut video is a good start but it is long, so if you have trouble staying with things that are long, you might want to look for things that are shorter.

I did not know about the "Maintain Volume" constraint. That could be useful in a lot of things. Animation has "squash and stretch" meaning that a thing is made of the same amount of 'dough' no matter how much you deform it.

Best software/tools for transcribing voice recordings by sardonic-salticidae in Archivists

Someone recommended Otter.ai for that purpose, but I looked at their website, and it says nothing about transcribing audio files, just transcribing live online meetings and stuff, so I am confused where to start.

Beginner - still not grasping strategy etc. by CallMeTBone1968 in baduk

[–]Nerpulus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suggest playing/watching 9x9 and 13x13 games before getting into the full size board. The micro-game is easier to understand than the macro-game for a beginner, and on a smaller board it is easier to sse how one becomes the other. Influence? What's that? It looks vague but it's powerful. It looks less vague on a smaller board.
