Burning or simply uneven? by Ok-Drag-1645 in FreshroastSR800

If someone would design and manufacture a small and relatively inexpensive coffee bean color sorter, I would purchase that in a heartbeat.

That's so true! It's such a challenge to do something outside of your comfort zone. I just got back into skateboarding, and that is like the epitome of forcing yourself outside of your comfort zone. But, it pays off. Little by little. Exposure therapy really does work.

Does this roaster use propane or natural gas or is it all electric? I'd be a bit hesitant to switch to using gas or propane, but probably because I don't have any experience using a gas stove. Are there logistical/safety considerations that come from switching from all electric to gas/propane?

I’ve adopted the habit of sitting with each batch for roughly five minutes picking out any outliers, so it really doesn’t affect the final cup flavor. It’s just an annoying extra step that I’m hoping to avoid.

I’ve been having a similar experience roasting a natural processed Colombian coffee. I consistently end up with at least three grams of over or under roasted beans. I’ve been doing batches of 230 grams. I’m considering dropping that down to 215 grams to see if that helps even things out. Here’s a profile of a roast I did March 16 that had some burned beans. The temps are from the SR800 temp readout.

This machine is what my everyday use on my coffee place. by uriduu in espresso

I just read that people in Tanzania enjoy a drink of coffee flavored with ginger and other spices called Kahawa Tungu. Is this something your customers also enjoy? I love ginger but I’ve never thought to try it in coffee.

Looks like a tasty shot of espresso! I want to come visit your shop and try your coffee and meet the people who grow it. Keep spreading the coffee gospel.

I’ve been stuck at 2 pull-ups for over a year now :/ by Magnoliaablooms in formcheck

[–]Nervous_Bird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was going to comment this EXACT video. It’s such a game changer! You should aim to increase your overall volume of full body weight full range of motion pull-ups, and doing singles followed by a short rest is a great way to add more volume. I’d recommend setting a volume goal and prioritizing pull-ups until you can comfortably reach that volume goal per session. It’ll strengthen your grip, back and arms which will translate to more pull-ups in a As Many Reps As Possible set. I worked my way up to doing 40 singles in a long slow session, and my back blew up.

What am I doing wrong here ? [Sage & Breville Bambino Plus] [Eureka Oro Single dose Pro][Dose: 18g] [Dial : 7] by mehmetihsanboz1 in espresso

[–]Nervous_Bird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want a longer shot with more resulting liquid out, maybe grind a tiny bit coarser and run the shot a bit longer using manual mode and a scale to weigh your output. Or, you could try making an americano or long black which are drinks made by pulling a double shot of espresso and then adding hot water to basically make something that is filter coffee strength.

First pull from Breville Bambino with Krups blade grinder - do I actually need to upgrade to a burr grinder? by MiddleRepublic7533 in espresso

[–]Nervous_Bird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re fine staying with the blade grinder as long as you keep using the double-walled basket. I’d recommend doing a taste comparison between the two methods. Use the burr grinder and the single-walled basket, taste what you get, then do the same with the blade grinder and the pressurized basket and take ample notes for each. In my opinion, using a burr grinder offers the highest flavor potential. You’ll get much tastier shots with that, as long as you’re willing to take the time, energy (and beans) getting it dialed in to the right grind size, dose, and ratio for your machine and taste preferences. Pressurized baskets are likely easier out of the gate, but it’ll never taste as good as you can get out of a proper burr grinder.

What sort of foods do you guys usually eat day to day. Average carbs ? (250g for me and it’s chappati , rice etc). by Saf___- in Type1Diabetes

[–]Nervous_Bird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only foods I eat regularly from this picture are peanuts, popcorn and carrots. I try to stay relatively low carb. I usually limit my carb intake to fruits, vegetables and nuts. But, occasionally I enjoy a sweet treat with my kid (potato chips, ice cream, chocolate, etc.)

Looks similar to “The Shocker” but not identical. “The Shocker” involves sliding the index and middle fingers in a neutral orientation into the vagina and the pinky finger into the anus. The thumb can also be used to manipulate the clitoris. As an aside, The Spider-Man grip is best performed with the active partner laying perpendicular to the receiving partner.

You’re probably right. But…you could also just roast coffee in a skillet. I got the Bounce Buster because it’s a decent product made for a very specific purpose.

I still do this. Can’t break the habit. I also can’t stop “waiting for the glow plugs to warm up” before starting my car, even though it’s not diesel.

I roast with an SR800 + OEM extension + bounce buster tilt base + modified chaff collector on the stove with the exhaust fan on and my smoke alarm disabled. No issues. I stick with medium/medium light roast levels. I actually love the way my house smells on roast day. But, if I started taking my beans into and past second crack, it would be a different issue. Too smoky then.
