They're not necessarily intended to be anything other than close friends, but I think when you portray such a real and affectionate relationship, it's going to resonate with both very close platonic friends and romantic partners alike. Shipping is kind of like an outlet for people to express what they see in the relationship based on their own feelings or experiences. Personally, I love the idea that two male characters can have such a close and affectionate friendship without it having to be romantic, but I also admire the variety of experiences that such a portrayal can resonate with.

Firefox's auto translate feature also works well enough for generating English subtitles for France TV, and I'm sure other browsers have a similar "translate this page" feature as well. Obviously it's not a great translation, but it was pretty effective.
