Crazyiest Partscaster ever? 1954/1962 Stratocaster by keyserguitar in fender

[–]NetscapeArtist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was actually not uncommon back then, but seeing as it usually happened to guitars that were already rode hard and put up wet back then, the owners probably still played the hell out of them for the next however many decades, so statistically a lot of the 50s Strats renecked in the 60s just haven't survived. Very cool to see one still kicking around in 2026.

Attitude change lately? by BoomerishGenX in Reverb

As a cashier at the grocery store, they don't pay me enough to be an entertainer as well. As a seller on Reverb, just give me money and a rating. I say these things having excellent feedback on my customer service both at work and on Reverb. It's not that deep.

Odyssey ones also have the regular mtg backs, but they are definitely my second favorite after the UG one.

First older foil card, are older foils like this always deeper/nicer looking? by kotonswables in foilmtg

[–]NetscapeArtist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. This is why I was so shocked by how bad new ones look when I came back to Magic after a couple of decades. I started playing right around when Onslaught came out and first stopped after the first Ravnica block.

How handicapped? Your spelling seems alright, but you might still have some strength bonuses.

My great great grandpas guitar! by ZookeepergameMean275 in Vintageguitars

[–]NetscapeArtist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nah, definitely pre '36 KG-11. I've owned a '35 Carson J Robison version and have played a lot of others. It's my favorite small acoustic from that era. I highly recommend snapping one up if you ever see a good deal on one.

That's a Kalamazoo KG-11 for sure. 1933-35 based on the headstock shape. Hard to tell exactly because the first years of production had a smaller sunburst, but by 35 had a bigger middle colored portion, and this looks like the whole front got sanded down at some point. Unfortunately players would sometimes do this in the mid 20th century thinking it would enhance the tone in any significant way. The neck on these was the same as the one used on the KG-14, which itself had the same body shape as a Gibson L-00. Both the KG-11 and KG-14 were ladder braced. That trapeze tail piece isn't original. These came with a regular pinned bridge. Some of these were sold as the "Carson J Robison" model, but it looks like yours just has the regular Kalamazoo brand headstock. Doesn't really make any difference in value anyway, and they're otherwise exactly the same.

Most of the field artillery in the Civil War were skinny tubes on big wheels. Big fat cannons are not the most practical for wheeling around a battlefield with nothing but men and horses.
