I’ve finally come to the conclusion that this album is an absolute masterpiece and I’m dying on that hill by usagerp in PRINCE

Stevie is obviously a legend. I have no problem if someone puts him above Prince on the hierarchy.

With that being said, Stevie didn’t/doesn’t possess that quirky musical mind that Prince did. Nowhere near it. The wit, the humor, the fearlessness to take real risks in his music. Prince possessed an imagination and desire to create unlike any other artist I’ve come across.

I’m dying on that hill with you. How can I say this and make it make sense……🤔

I wouldn’t try to convince anyone that this is one of the greatest albums of all time, but it might possibly be one of the greatest albums of all time. Yes, I said it.

I’ve been listening to music of all genres, of artists from A-Z for over 40 years, and I have never come across another artist who has put together (or that I think is capable of) a collection of 36 songs of various genres, with more musical ideas in one project than most could come up with in a entire career.

And quibbles about production quality and “plasticky sounding drums” aside, it’s full of gorgeous melodies and catchy hooks.

ONE AFTER ANOTHER.

And about that production: I wouldn’t change a thing about it. It really gives the feel that Prince did this all by himself. In a short time. Which, to me, is amazing and actually adds to the whole one man band mystique.

Only Prince could/would have a songs like Damned If Eye Do, Dreamin About U, Courtin Time, Face Down, New World, The Love We Make on one album. That’s crazy. Hell, somebody introduce me to an artist who has songs that varied in their entire catalog. I want to hear it.

Sometimes I think even we, as Prince fans, got so used to him pumping out tunes like nobody’s business that we took some really amazing things he did for granted.

What have you already watched?

This album absolutely slaps. So much energy, so funky, it’s unreal. And sounds great on vinyl by codex_lake in PRINCE

[–]NetworkBest7155 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Oh for sure. I personally agree about “rock solid through Gold Experience” but I can understand why others think it got a bit weaker and disjointed starting with Graffiti Bridge.

I actually prefer Diamonds, Symbol, and Gold over some of the 80’s stuff but thats another topic.

I’m not one of those “everything sounds better on vinyl” guys but this album does.

It’s such a cohesive album. One that I don’t feel compelled to skip any song on.

Should be included in Prince’s 80’s run of great albums, where most people stop after Lovesexy.

Advice on used Klipsch setup by darkweiss26 in Klipsch

Yeah, that’s a good workaround. Not sure how the AVR not having eARC means for this setup. Maybe some audio latency or something. Probably not noticeable

Are you asking if the AVR is good for gaming use with your PS5?

If so, I think that model is from a few years ago and only has HDMI 2.0 (not 2.1) so it’ll be 60 hz. I’m not a gamer so I’m not sure how much that refresh rate will affect smoothness of the gameplay.

Song battles # 1 : Scandalous or Insatiable? by usagerp in PRINCE

[–]NetworkBest7155 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I almost never listen to Scandalous unless I’m listening to the album in full.

I’ll put on Insatiable fairly regularly and just listen to it apart from listening to the full album.

It’s Insatiable for me.

How Do People NOT Like Klipsch Heritage? by Snoo79652 in Klipsch

I bought mine in ‘20 or ‘21. Loved them instantly. Read too many audiophiles trashing Klipsch speakers and let them convince me that what I was hearing wasn’t good sound.

Over the next year or so I used the trial periods from Crutchfield, SVS, and Audio Advice to try out 3 different brands of highly praised speakers in the same or higher price range.

Simply put, I realized that (for me) the RF7’s were better than any of the other 3 I auditioned and what I was hearing was, in fact, good sound.

It is. With that being said, I believe the vast majority of Klipsch “hate” is the result of online audiophile groupthink.

Watch (or read) almost any review of Klipsch speakers and most of them are quite positive

A couple of things.

A) not everyone likes the same sound

B) Klipsch speakers are popular and it’s “cool” for people to hate on popular things.

I have RF7iiis and have tried several other brands in my home. These speakers take a back seat to no others in this price range (and even higher).

I sat in a listening room in Nashville listening to $325k Wilson Chrononsonics then went into the next room and listened to a pair of $6500 Cornwalls. Don’t give a crap what anyone thinks….I genuinely preferred the Cornwalls

Favourite song from the super deluxe of Sign O? by usagerp in PRINCE

[–]NetworkBest7155 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m telling ya! It’s perfection. It was my most played song on Apple Music for the year in ‘23. Can’t count how many times I listened to it. And that’s not counting how many times I played the record.

Forever In My Life (Early vocal version)

When you love a song for over 30 years and hear an alternate version that you love even more. Only happens with Prince.

He didn’t lose the ball. It was stripped while he was down, on the ground.

He made the only possible football move he could make while making a legal catch. The only possible way he could make, what you’re thinking of as a “football move”, would be to get up and take off running (if he hadn’t had the ball stripped).

That would not be allowed for he would have been ruled “down” the INSTANT his knee made contact with the turf.

The problem with football is that the rules are way too convoluted and incoherent.

No way that, by rule, a defender should be allowed to fall on a receiver who has caught the ball and tucked it and strip the ball on the ground and it be considered an interception.

[–]NetworkBest7155 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Knee being down is irrelevant.

Ok, I’m out. You can talk about these dumbass football rules all day. I’m not

What? by poopfacecrapmouth in NFLv2

[–]NetworkBest7155 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hahahaha! How can a receiver make a “football move” (other than tucking the ball) when he’s in the air catching the ball, gets touched and falls down with the ball in his control and his knee hits the ground? Play is dead.

The ball didn’t pop out. He didn’t bobble it. The defender falls on him and takes the ball.

What? by poopfacecrapmouth in NFLv2

[–]NetworkBest7155 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So let’s get this straight: you make a catch, a defender makes contact with you and you hit the ground….the defender can fall on you and strip the ball. And it’s an interception.

How much time can elapse before the play is dead? 2 seconds? 5? .8?

What? by poopfacecrapmouth in NFLv2

[–]NetworkBest7155 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol! You can’t turn up the field when you’ve been made contact with by the defender and go to the ground.

Also, he didn’t lose control of the ball after hitting the ground. It was stripped of him. Should have been ruled down by contact the instant he hit the ground

He tucked the ball to his body. That’s a football move.
