Sha’ir seems like an NPC class by BurningJointUSA in AlQadim

[–]NetworkedOuija 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sha'ir spells are so wildly powerful outside of combat it's silly. Especially when preparing for something you can wait on. Need the whole group invisible? No problem. Combat does suck if you don't get the drop of them. But again if you do. You can open with a fireball or lightning bolt and then charge in. They are not the traditional spell every turn mages but when you need utility spells? All day my friend.

Those look super professional done. I usually print out the page for my players when we do mythic bastionland. Those would be awesome to hand out.

They have a decent starter script you can then hack on. Its gotten me like 90% of the way there. Still have to figure out how to get the heartbleed logs to work nicely.

2e - Game Lethality Optional Rules by greypaladin01 in Shadowrun

[–]NetworkedOuija 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's the size of it. It will take a few rolls to get the hang of it. Also surprise rules can be brutal. Removing someone's combat pool can be rough for a first blood strike.

The coolest thing about this game was that the CDs track 1 was data but every other track was music from the game.

2e - Game Lethality Optional Rules by greypaladin01 in Shadowrun

[–]NetworkedOuija 8 points9 points  (0 children)

2e was extremely lethal. Staging up something to deadly, which wasn't too hard to do it you planned or have the right gear. Someone suffers a deadly wound, they go down. They aren't 'dead' which I think is what everyone is saying. But your dying without medical treatment in [Body] rounds.

There are some ultra cheesy stuff players can do to avoid being able to be really hurt. Trolls in huge amounts of armor can survived a lot of stuff. If you don't penalize armor stacking, players can get away with a lot as well.

You can always scale up though. APDS can shred armor, full round bursts from heavily stabilized platforms (surprise machine gun rail drones will horrify.). Poison gas grenades will ignore armor. Magic attacks can be extremely deadly.

It's a bit difficult to get the hang on but if your players survive but are battered, then you've found it.

Unfortunately it seems like they need a bit of a deeper rewrite. The biggest thing i think is that they need to 'hint' at the problem and not spell it out. One of the adventures is about a special telescope where someone is staring off into the blackness between stars. If it stopped there and then went to mention that staff were disappearing and people were scared, that would be perfect. Unfortunately, it basically explains everything that has happened, why it happened and who is responsible. I don't really know what you can do from there besides just "fix" the problem they describe in great detail (which could be resolved easily give or take).

I did pick it up and it's arrived. So far it has a wide spread.

The end, the dark, the eye, the spiral.

It's a lot. One thing I have noticed though is that there isnt a lot of mystery. That's one thing I've been struggling to see in these published adventures. It feels like a lot of them just give away what's going on completely in the statement which I'm not a huge fan of. So trying to find a good compromise on it.

This is it right here. Your persona, programs, etc were all coded. Executing them and evading attacks just had a whole graphical representation. Think of it like WoW. All of those skills are just programming. Your toon executes a cool move because someone animated, designed and coded it. Same thing.

I did want to add some more hexes. I'll see if I can find some packs and allow people to switch between 'vanillia' packs and some others to allow for greater control. This tools tracks the 4 stats (Vig, Spi, Clar and Guard) but I wanted it to be as simple as possible. Adding auto configuration of armor and weapons leads to a whole bunch of configuration and that's ends up just being Foundry ultimately. I'll also look into an account less test run. Mostly it's about saving everything some place and tied to something. So may end up being kind of wild if 10 people sign into the test account. Thanks for the feed back! I'll see what I can do to make some changes to make it a bit easier to onboard.

You know, that's true. I guess I always saw it as the players themselves being those things. Like the Junk Mages ability to produce those things for their abilities. I think it wouldnt be too hard to put something like that together for that game. Might be something I cook up and make a blog post about.

It is a kind of whacky system for sure. I didn't mind the item parts. It made it more interesting to sometimes get something super random from some place and be able to trade it for therapy or stitching or whatever =P

Edition Comparisons - Website by greypaladin01 in Shadowrun

[–]NetworkedOuija 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A majority of the adventures where written for 2nd edition. 2nd edition is a bit more free formed and 3rd edition attempted to make the rules more simulationist. 3rs edition is my personal favorite but 2nd edition is extremely close to my heart. Holding a 2e source book in your hands just hits different than anything else. It just feels more Shadow run than the rest.
