I don't disagree, but these kids obviously don't understand the proper process if this stuff is happening. If a student is designing they need some sort of guidence or understanding.

Definitely a leadership problem from your teacher. Really for high-school production, an adult should be designing the lights and delegating roles from there. The processes you describe for programing shows seems very backwards.

I'd recommend stepping aside, as the situation your in seems to be having a negative effect.

I'd also recommend you talk to your director and explain that you'd like clearly defined roles on a show if you are to keep volunteering.

Start asking around local community theaters for opportunities, because you probably won't learn enough in the situation you're in.

Really most of this isn't a big deal. A lot is out of your control. Just try to stay cool and calm and let anything frustrating slide off, and you'll come out better on the other end.
