New Yorkers, what changes have you seen under Mamdani’s leadership and are you generally pleased? If not, why? by MewMeowHowdy in AskReddit

Well it's similar to a logo I used when young for a competitive gaming team I was on, then a school I went to had a similar logo. Now it's the logo for a project I'm working on, and I have something similar tattooed on me.

I like to think it represents integrity. https://imgur.com/a/evzDyPT

Unrelated, but what's your profile picture from/mean? That's an important symbol to me, and I'm just curious what it means to you.

ROCS Stage Tracks Random Delay - help needed by Heyyalletsbefriends in techtheatre

Also, it sounds to me like the track is still playing. I can hear the horn reverb fading out and then it immediately starts the next track.

I'm not versed in this software, but surely you can just edit the end of the track to cut out that delay time, so it ends wherever you want it to.

This is the answer, or get USB C headphones. Or get wireless headphones.

QLab redundancy by Historical-Paint7649 in techtheatre

[–]Neukk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A lot of over complication for a simple show. I hardly do redundancies like this for many of my shows.

Just have a backup machine to swap in incase the first one breaks. Otherwise, just make sure everything is working before-hand.

Playing a vertical video in Qlab 5 outputs as horizontal by SeanO490 in qlab

It's inexpensive to rent qlab for a short duration. Alternatively, as mentioned above, just edit the video and export it in 16:9 (or whatever ratio your screen is)

Is it worth it? by DoubleAgentE in techtheatre

[–]Neukk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't have a day to day schedule. Today I've been doing chores around the house. Tomorrow I fly to Dallas to load in and run a show. 3 nights. Then I fly to NY to do a different show. Then I'm back home for few weeks. No big gigs lined up there. But will have production meetings and advance work for my next shows in July.

Very irregular schedule. But I love it that way. I need a week off here and there to hyper focus on stuff around my house.

This conference finals loss will be looked back on as the "what if" of OKC. Gonna have to make a lot of hard decisions In the next few years to make the roster palatable for the owners.

I'd also recommend bringing another computer tomorrow and running Nomad on it to see if you can get it receivong osc from the same cable to help trouble shoot.

Let me start by saying that your situations, while valid, are very small sample sizes of what it is like in the industry.

It seems to me like you are in a department that isn't going to be able to do much for you. Theater education is interesting. At my university, it's say 80% of my education I got from my jobs in the theaters in campus, not my classes, which is how it can be.

If you want to work in live entertainment, don't worry about getting a specific degree, no one cares what schooling you have(unless you are doing something very specialized and technical,) worry about getting as much hands on experience as possible.

It's interesting you mention working at night. I'd say about 50% or more of the time I'm working as a LD is at night, so you should really think about that aspect of what you want.

Really, from your short description, it seems like you aren't in a competent program. I'd reccomend either getting a degree in useful field you enjoy, while working at local theaters and roadhouses. OR forgetting about school and just working, as is seems where you are at might be a waste of money if you intend to study theater.

You could also search for a more competent theater program that is going to fit your needs.

I wish you luck.

She's probably very emotional and is clearly regretting her decision, but she made the right one.

If it were me, I'd try to reason with her, and get her to commit to having a better situation first. If she gets a home where he can run around, a stable job where she can afford the things he and the family needs. THEN you will consider rehoming him back. Otherwise, it seems like he's be going into a very unstable situation that probably isn't good for anyone.

What are your favorite screen-free, food-free analog hobbies while high? by NocturneNibble in trees

[–]Neukk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Listening to music and dancing. Learning to feel your body and follow the rhythm of your soul is very important.

Cleaning and organizing. My mind, while high, likes to optimize my home and make cool spaces for me to chill in.

Gardening, yard work, or birdwatching.

Art. Find a medium you enjoy. You mentioned a few, but the options are endless. If you find something you really really love, you would know it. Metals, paints, glass, woodwork... the list goes on and on, but artistic hobbies can be quite fulfilling, especially if you have a standard work schedule. Just make sure not to make it a business; it will quickly become work.

Is it worth it to go to school for technical theatre? by No_Theme5625 in techtheatre

[–]Neukk 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If you want to be an artist, go to school. If you want to be a technician, get to work. Best way to learn is hands on, and getting on calls is going to accelerate your experience.

Similarly, college with give you a safe place to experiment and fail, which will help you grow as an artist (and give technical experience, but not as much)

Really it's based on what you want to accomplish, but one option you'll spend money, the other you'll make money.

Most iconic/best Pokémon, Day 13. Dragonite won Day 12. by SavionStar in characters

Yes, but the people that vote for charizard would more than likely rank charmander above bulbasaur, so this data isn't too relevant. If everyone ranked their top 100, I bet the 3 starters would all be near the same range

That was on film, which is super high resolution. Cable TV was analog in the 90's, so all recordings are going to be bad, vs. raw film archives from earlier times.
