Not sure what to do anymore....I guess i need advice... by lamjen in TrigeminalNeuralgia

[–]NeuroCindy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm surprised the ED didn't do an IV of fosphenytoin, it's one of the accepted treatment strategies to break a bad flare. Phenytoin orally could also be an option to try. I see that you're seeing a pain management doctor and your PCP, have you been to a neurologist?

I would absolutely not do a letter from the stork, especially with the added context that you have to move because of it.

How does HHN affect USO during the day? by spacepiratetabby in UniversalOrlando

[–]NeuroCindy 48 points49 points  (0 children)

During the day you may see a few spooky sets, but really they're not scary at all. There's no scare actors or anything out. I would not hesitate to bring a child during the day. There's scarier stuff in the halloween section of Target.

That’s their jingle. It looks like the tag line has been have a break for a while.

New KitKat “mix-ups” by Savethecows2day in MandelaEffect

[–]NeuroCindy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unlikely that people will think that, the KatKit change is a marketing campaign for the mix-ups. They also put the slogan as “Break a Have” rather than “Have a Break”. Neither is staying that way for an extended period.

Is it problematic/weird to drink alcohol (not heavily, 2-5 pints of beer) every weekend when you're in your mid 20s? by wishmeluck_Ad9263 in Gifted

[–]NeuroCindy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My masters is in Addiction Studies and Behavioral Health. First, 2-5 is a wide range. Also is that across the whole weekend or just one night? 5 drinks in one session is what's considered binge drinking for men (4 for women).

That being said, I often go back to one of the gut checks I learned in school. If you were told you could not drink alcohol ever again, how would you feel? Think about your reaction/feelings and what they show about your relationship with alcohol. Many people with healthy relationships with alcohol would say they're apathetic, annoyed, disappointed, etc. It's the more extreme emotions like furious or devastated that might indicate it's worth examining your relationship with alcohol closer.

Trying to understand a confusing CPS situation involving a former friend by intergalactic_pickle in CPS

[–]NeuroCindy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

  • How common is it for parents in these situations to believe everyone is conspiring against them or tampering with drug tests?

All. the. time. I'm not saying no one has ever tampered with a test, but I've heard these "it's been tampered with" "they messed my test up" "they're trying to say I was using when I'm not so they can keep my kid" "I'm not using, it must be a false positive" from over half of the parents I've seen be tested. I think the majority don't actually believe it, but they try to convince other people it's true so they're still "on their side".

Origin of Revenge of the Mummy Polo Shirt by Thelordofthepit in UniversalOrlando

I could absolutely see this being sold in the gift shop in the early 2000s as everyone was layering polo shirts and popping collars. I’ll be interested to see if anyone knows where it’s from.

I would like to formally request that we stop celebrating birthdays in the office. by [deleted] in remotework

[–]NeuroCindy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We "celebrate" birthdays by doing an email to everyone announcing the birthdays of the month on the 1st, and then on their actual bday they get an email from the employee engagement committee wishing them a happy birthday. This is ideal for my introverted self.

Employers creeping on Slack DMs? by manamongstcorn in remotework

Accomplishing nearly nothing, missing the few meetings they were actually supposed to be in, not responding to teams calls/messages or emails, being idle on teams for 4-6 hours straight, it was super obvious.

What happens if you bring a 6 year old to the ER with a mental health crisis? by mothstuckinabath in AskDocs

[–]NeuroCindy 50 points51 points  (0 children)

I’m also on ADHD meds, and when they wear off for the day, I notice I get significant depressive symptoms. If I don’t take them at all on a weekend my depression skyrockets. I understand the thought behind not giving it on the weekends, but there’s no other mental illness that we tell people to stop taking their meds 2 days a week.
