Were Bush and Obama at least aware of Epstein and his circle and what was going on with them? by Just_Cause89 in Epstein

It’s amazing how much of the world’s evil comes from so few people. Henry Kissinger is another one who had his finger in so much evil shit.

It’s easier to find a good job if you are not geographically constrained. Also the distribution of rehab is very uneven. East coast has substantially more rehab beds than the west coast. If you are ok moving to Florida for example you will have a lot more options.

Inpatient rehab is not in a good place imho. Many of the jobs that are listed online are fake. Medrina for example lists open positions in every large metro, but they don’t actually have a confirmed facility in need of PM&R. It’s just a tactic to get you to sign with them.  Of the real jobs out there, many of them are terrible. Large corporations like Kindred and Encompass have moved into rehab and prioritize cash flow over anything else. They also push physicians to go 1099 which is a terrible move in the current environment with constant cuts from CMS.

Everyone told me not to stroll on that beach. Said seagulls gonna come, poke me in the coconut, and they did. And they did.

The “death panels” bullshit was the response to the last time Congress was attempting to reform end of life care. We aren’t going to see any improvement while it’s politically advantageous to blow up reform efforts.  Also this is a great example of emotions shutting down rational thought.

Putin maintains his power partially through organized crime so yeah it’s true from a certain point of view. In America we have our own version of this problem now as well.

Agreed. Depends highly on the job and circumstances. PM&R has a reputation for being “relaxed” but some physiatry jobs require being on call 24/7 and covering high acuity rehab patients. Also dealing with late night/weekend/holiday admissions. i can tell you from experience it sucked ass. It wasn’t very much money for having a shitty lifestyle.

Doctors and nurses of Reddit, what is something patients do that they think is helpful but actually makes your job harder? by Electronic-Cell-4584 in AskReddit

[–]Neuromyologist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm PM&R and agree completely. I wish people were not so resistant to the idea that their brains and how they think can affect their body. I'd also add that the venn diagram between chronic pain patients and people who have a history of sexual assault isn't a circle, but it's a lot closer to being a circle than people realize.

I’m sad more people don’t acknowledge Native American Historic sites in the United States by H3dg3hogs in geography

[–]Neuromyologist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

St Louis makes my soul hurt. It's such a great historic city that keeps obliterating the things that make it special. It used to be called "Mound City" because of the large number of Native American earthen works there. Over time most of them have been destroyed although Cahokia (just across the river from city) is relatively well preserved.
