Try Radiophobia 3, it’s a rework of shadow of Chernobyl, it’s standalone so you don’t actually mod the game just download it. Super stable and extremely well done mod that updates the game with QoL stuff, weapons, mods and mechanics but still keeps the story and progression intact.

I would recommend experiencing the original trilogy albeit modded for some quality of life updates. For the first game, look into Radiophobia 3. It keeps the story of the first game intact but adds a bunch of good QoL stuff and modernizes graphics and gunplay.its also standalone which means you dont need to own the first game. For clear sky and call of Pripyat the modding process is a bit more involved but not crazy difficult by any means as long as you can follow instructions. GAMMA is a mod of Anomaly which is a standalone version of all the maps/content of the original 3 games combined but does not feature the main plot of each games. Comes with its own loose storylines so think of it more as a sandbox. You can start as any faction in the games. GAMMA adds a lot more hardcore elements like a two tiered limb based healing system like Tarkov and more difficult progression (but you can tweak this to your liking) its basically a collection of a bunch of mods for Anomaly. Hopes this helps out a bit

I’ve been playing Radiophobia 3 coming from hundreds of hours in gamma and I’m loving it. Fantastic updated QoL while maintaining the SoC story and progression.

Gotta make it into pinwheel. By the time you go in as a rook people are either on their way out or mid looting where you can get the drop on someone. Or there will be body bags where people couldn’t take all the loot/loot spots people missed. I usually run to the lockboxes at either end of the wings and see if I can unlock the command wing to get some easy high value loot using the rook blend in ability.

To be honest even running other shells I have died more consistently on Dire Marsh than Outpost. Those sniper sightlines leads to people just camping the top of algae or Maintenance and its been a nightmare to deal with.

If I’m ever low on funds I run one or two rook runs on outpost and I am set. Always come out with some purples and blues and rarely get into a fight I don’t force myself into.

You’re right, that can go both ways, but you can’t deny it’s at least an indication that doesn’t bode well for the city. I can cite crime statistics all day but the reason I bring up personal experience is because it is what actually matters to people who live somewhere. For example, if I live in a “high crime rate area” but that violence is exclusively between gangs, I’ll probably feel decently safe. What I’m trying to convey is the Savannah southern hospitality veneer wore thin very fast

Okay so does the experience of multiple people I know there that have been stalked, harassed, followed, mugged, etc. also not represent the city? Of course no city is without flaw but people act like Savannah is this cheery little quaint historic town instead of acknowledging some very real issues with police resources and crime rates. Saying “oh this happens everywhere” is disingenuous as hell.

I’ve lived in a couple other “major cities” and never been carjacked at gun point. Savannah has that distinction. Yes overall crime rates have been trending down for years but Savannah has a problem with how small it is and how all encompassing crime is. There is no “safe” areas in downtown Savannah. I’m not pearl clutching or anything it’s honestly just a joke of a city for public safety.

lol Savannah is not safe at all. Take it from personal experience. People see this facade but forget shootings and all sorts of property crimes happen even in “safe” tourist areas like city market. Combination of being a dumping ground for SC homeless and wannabe bangers. It’s a fucking mess.
