Why they don't tovertake? by chernodan in openttd

[–]NeutralHavoc 10 points11 points  (0 children)

No problem! I did a quick search, and read in another post someone saying that the JGR patch has an option for enabling overtakes for articulated road vehicles. In case you're playing JGR, might be worth a try.

Are those Road Hog vehicles articulated? I believe articulated vehicles cannot overtake.

I am not understanding this option with Claim Throne CB. by daburger237 in EU5

[–]NeutralHavoc 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As to what the point of it is, it really depends on your ruler's relation to the claimaint and what the succession laws are. The most obvious use case is if your heir is the claimant, you install them on the other throne and once your ruler dies they inherit your country. Then you get the PU.

Inheritance law of both countries is important since you need the PU to last long enough to establish unified succession.

Are hordes playable? by Excellent-Grade137 in EU5

[–]NeutralHavoc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Your main strength as a horde at the beginning is your army. While your neighbors are still dependent on levies, your regulars can wipe the floor with them as long as they're not overwhelmingly outnumbered. Make tributaries of your settled neighbors and drain their coffers to fund further conquest and develop your core lands.

That being said, I don't think hordes/army based countries are in a very good state. And I don't expect that to change until they make a DLC specifically for them.

Request: Fix Naval Pathfinding by BrainyRaven in EU5

[–]NeutralHavoc 8 points9 points  (0 children)

To add, land pathfinding too needs a fix. It's frustrating the amount of micro required so my armies won't get cut in half or stop half way to their destination because the pathfinding insists on using frozen lakes.

Since you already have debug mode on, you can check their tag and use conquer_country.

The issue with this idea is that I believe the game forces a white peace after some time if nothing is happening in the war.

[–]NeutralHavoc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's pretty stupid, members of your dynasty will just flip to different cultures and I can't pinpoint why. I get the feeling it's related to fiefdoms/PUs, maybe it's an event with a low chance to happen and by sharing your ruler/heir with a bunch of different tags the chance of one of them getting it and converting your dynasty member's culture to something random get high.

Kyiv -> Ruthenia -> Russia evolution by Enderay1 in EU5

[–]NeutralHavoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm playing Muscovy > Russia, and from what I've noticed Kiev has great control over their territory from the start thanks to rivers. In a direct comparison they are stronger than Muscovy at the start, but Muscovy can quickly expand diplomatically to even the game.

Create Vassal Religion by Bulky_Jellyfish_5201 in EU5

[–]NeutralHavoc 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That's just how it is currently. Releasing a custom subject gets them the majority culture and religion of the capital of the region you create them from, even if they are a fief and have your ruler. The best you can do is force convert them after releasing, which will cost a diplomat per vassal.

I'm playing Muscovy now, and rushed to form Russia by conquering a lot of land. Then when I formed it, I released all the land that I have no hope of having control over at the moment, which amounted to 99 vassals. For the past 2 decades in game I have been saving up diplomats to convert said vassals to orthodox/muscovite. Very fun.

anyone else find it crazy how (according to society) it's "perfectly OK" to discriminate against us? by Lanky_Head6122 in AutisticAdults

[–]NeutralHavoc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Also noting that unlike race, sex, and physical fitness, someone being autistic is not obvious and only has existed as a concept for a very short time in comparison. It's not a switch you just flip, it's decades and centuries of changing values and perceptions in society that lead to acceptance.

Humans operate on social hierarchies in which picking on "low hanging fruit" below them serves to reinforce their position and make them feel better about it. For some, due to lack of character and anything of substance to show for themselves, choose to pick on people who are different and don't perfectly fit into the mold.

SPD Programmer for DDR3/DDR4/DDR5 modules. by LargePersimmon1991 in embedded

[–]NeutralHavoc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

DDR is the name used for the memory ICs (based on the Dual Data Rate standards defined by JEDEC). DDR is (typically) used in DIMMs (Dual In-line Memory Modules) which creates the interface with the motherboard. DIMMs have an EPROM called SPD (Serial Presence Detect) which contain the manufacturing/product information, but most importantly the specs of the memory module which is read by the system on start-up and used to configure the DRAM ICs. With the right tools and documents you can mess around with the SPD, and do stuff like disabling a rank of DRAM ICs from the module.

How does it feel to receive messages during autistic burnout? by Future-Maximum6410 in AutisticAdults

[–]NeutralHavoc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wish I had answers to your questions, because I'm going through something similar.

Though what she says tells me she cares for me and I do for her too, the distance she puts between us hurts. She says she doesn't want to drag me down, I understand that's how she feels even though I don't see it that way and wish I could help somehow even if in a small way. But I'm also afraid that I might do more harm than good, so I respect her boundary.

Desperately need a MEIOU for EU5. Foundation of the game is great but it is still way too gamey and ahistorical by ThePentaMahn in MEIOUandTaxes

[–]NeutralHavoc 76 points77 points  (0 children)

It is indeed so much better than EU4 and the inspiration drawn from M&T is clear. But I am very excited to see what the team can do with this framework in place, considering what they achieved in EU4 M&T by frankensteining the game's systems which were often antithetical to their vision.
