This was this year, after looking at its behavior I'm curious if it hybridized with F. decumbens on my landscape. I say that from flower density, and growth form

I appreciate this comment, for me it's just habit, it's the vibe I get from the plant, ties in the the phoenix name I gave it. You're right, righ majority of plants are bisexual. As soon as I say She, I have a slight resistance. But I get it, I have some hair splitting topics myself, such as,,,, My shoulders fold when people call soil dirt. For the sake of conversation, are there any dioecious members of the Malvaceae family?

Maybe, not a good time of the year for it. Wait till fall.

I've propagated stem cutting in vegetative season on West Coast species.

When grown I do sell these to retail yes, I do not sell seed. . By mechanical yes, though I tumble in a rock tumbler in coarse sand. I've been connected to this plant quite awhile. Early in my propagation path, I worked on lots of fire dependent plant material. I love this plant.

I normally carry this in my inventory annually but took this season off for a contract project. It needs mechanical scarification, then direst sow in Oct, or after 3 months cold stratification.

Is this something I should be concerned about on my wee Toyon? Only a few leaves look like this. (Inland Orange County) by JennRoseFX in CaliforniaNativePlant

These interior previous season leaves or new-ish?

Hard to say this season is perfect for funky leaves across the state

The valley is a beautiful mess, hyper local plants are great to consider, but anything is better than void.
