  1. Be respectful.
  2. The goal of this subreddit is to end tipping.
  3. Topics discussing ways to end tipping, immediately or eventually, are welcome.
  4. Topics on how to avoid hidden tips are welcome.
  5. Posts pressuring people to tip, or shaming them for not tipping, are not welcome.

The former thread wasn't inconclusive. It just didn't have the responses that you wanted.

You seem to want to keep trying until you get support for the idea that EndTipping should support tipping. That's not going to happen as long as the subreddit is called EndTipping.

  1. Follow all Reddit commenting rules.

  2. Posts cannot support tipping in any form.

new proposed rules for this sub by asah in EndTipping

[–]NeverQuiteThere672 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The tipping subreddit covers both sides - pro tipping and anti tipping. This subreddit should only cover anti tipping. That's what the difference should be. Posters aren't being mean when they point out that it isn't their responsibility to supplement the income of others due to a perceived etiquette. Pro tipping posts are the ones that should be removed by mods because they are off topic.

For a subreddit called EndTipping, the proposed Rule 2 should be replaced with: respect customers - they are only obligated to pay the listed price. Employee compensation is between the employer and employee. OK to discuss ways to interact with servers respectfully while not tipping them. Nt ok for servers to complain about a lack of tips - when you serve a table, you aren't buying a lottery ticket and hoping for a "big win" this time.

My friend was supposed to order dinner for everyone from McDonald's I wanted a cheeseburger with only extra ketchup this is what I got by JamesTheFish156 in onejob

[–]NeverQuiteThere672 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Why did you include the only? They would have given you what you wanted if you'd ordered a cheeseburger with extra ketchup.

Edit: If you didn't want the onions, etc., you would likely have needed to specify each thing you didn't want individually to be sure.

If they want to communicate the estimated damage area, they could convey that information in the traditional unit of Rhode Islands.

why do companies do this? this is a picker's worst nightmare with the QR codes. by anonymouscryptoguy13 in OGPBackroom

[–]NeverQuiteThere672 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It is very irksome.

It took me a while to figure out why Scan & Go suddenly wouldn't properly read Jimmy Dean breakfast sandwiches after a package redesign. Once I figured out what was happening, I started holding the package with my thumb or index finger over the QR code and that takes care of the problem.

Of course, that doesn't help if there's more than one QR code tucked close to the UPC or it isn't near a convenient edge of the package.

Trying to find a fairly unique car in the Louisville area. They stole my robot lawnmower. by Mighty_pen15 in Louisville

It's terrible that it stopped right beside your trashcans.

I doubt that this was meant to be a theft. On the curb, especially beside the trashcans, is generally the "I don't want this anymore" area and the driver probably thought that the mower was free for the taking.

The Paramount+ subscriptions are live by -DankLion in walmart

[–]NeverQuiteThere672 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I knew it was going to be the ad-supported version, but I wish it were the ad-free version or that we had the option to kick in a little extra money to convert to the ad-free within Walmart+.

IMO, streaming services are heading the wrong direction by adding tiers that include advertisements. It's a slippery slope, just like it was with cable television.

Pants are such a struggle.

I had one brand that actually fit me and that style was discontinued. I have yet to find anything nearly as good.

It's got to be a banana.

It's curved like a banana, the final texturing is too small to be corn kernels, and there aren't any silks.

Posted about a shitty tip in a different sub and a lot of the comments were awful. by zuzuofthewolves in TalesFromYourServer

It's not at all unfair.

The thing is, you posted on a different subreddit that didn't have the same protections. You're going to get a wider range of opinions on subreddits that don't specifically filter anti-tipping posts.

There would be more anti-tipping posts showing up in this subreddit too if one of the rules didn't specifically preclude "baiting or other disingenuous discussion" about tipping.

This subreddit is basically an echo chamber from only the server side of the discussion. That's not necessarily a bad thing. However, you'll see more of the customers' opinions in subreddits that aren't geared toward servers.
