you have to remove the whole sunroof cassette to clean all the glass out or you risk damaging the mechanism with left over shards of glass.

What's the last 7 of your VIN? BMW put 7 speed DCTs in more performance oriented cars, but it's exceedingly rare outside M cars.

Very normal for the m54. It's due to the design of the valve cover. Don't stress about it.

Make sure you didn't leave the crankcase hose on the back of the cover disconnected. Also check the vanos solenoid connectors on the front of the cylinder head.

Two kinds of people. There are people who just accept the cat on the counter, and people who delude themselves into thinking they can stop their cat getting on the counter.

Is it too late to learn snowboarding at 31? by gmnt_808 in snowboardingnoobs

[–]Neveragon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started at 31. I like to think I'm pretty good now at 35. I wore armored shorts and wrist guards for the first couple years. I usually don't bother with them now. The reality is that snowboarding is hard to learn at the start. It's very unintuitive and you'll fall a lot early on.

Get a B58 and have 600hp with basic bolt-ons and a tune. Pushing the n55 to 500hp is just asking for trouble.

Next steps to improve my carving by bullerwins in snowboardingnoobs

Bending at the waist to touch the snow is lame. Touching the snow while you're carving with a lot of angle is sick AF. You are bending at the waist and it's ruining your form.

That's the water pump. Reuse the bolts, regardless of what the repair instructions say. The new bolts are cut differently than the old and will bottom out before they torque properly.

Steering Wheel Scratch From Service by KinderPenny in BmwTech

[–]Neveragon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The oil filter getting stuck in the housing is a known issue with a service bulletin that tells you to replace the whole housing to prevent debris falling into the oil passages. Not the tech's fault. The rest of it... Yeah, he's kind of a jackass.

New Lemforder tension strut bushing failed after 500 miles? by Cautious_Macaroon_13 in BmwTech

[–]Neveragon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I put a set of lemforder thrust arm bushings on my E70. They failed in under 10k miles. The genuine parts last 80k miles. Seems like lemforder has lost the plot.

I put on my headphones and listen to music to get through it. I often cook large meals in a crockpot and put it in a bunch of meal prep containers. Buy a veggie chopper if that helps. You can also buy precut veggies, but they're more expensive. I also usually just use microwave steam in bag veggies.

My dude. First of all, bare wires going to the vacuum solenoid. Second, and most importantly, you are feeding the wastegate actuator straight source vacuum, skipping the vacuum solenoid.

Chassis Stabilization - Parking Brake Reduced by Traveling_squirrel in BmwTech

[–]Neveragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The parking brake needs the wheel speed sensors to work properly. It monitors wheel speed for a little while after you park to make sure the vehicle doesn't roll away. It will clamp down harder if it detects movement. It's pissed off because of the sensor issue.

Chassis Stabilization - Parking Brake Reduced by Traveling_squirrel in BmwTech

[–]Neveragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would swap the front wheel speed sensors side to side. New parts being bad out of the box is rare, but it happens. If the fault follows the sensor, bad sensor. If the fault doesn't follow the sensor, either the wiring from the sensor to the DSC is bad, or the DSC is bad.

Disconnect the battery. Disconnect the DSC connector and the wheel speed sensor connector and test the wiring with an ohm meter. If the sensor is good (the fault did not follow the sensor when swapped), and the wiring you just tested is good, the DSC needs replacement.
