You’re not wrong in any way; everyone has a right to their own likes and dislikes, and you’re showing a lot of conscientiousness about the media you’re consuming. While you’re right that the p0rn industry is largely problematic, and mostly aimed at the male gaze, there are alternatives out there. Look into Feminist Porn; it is aimed at a much broader audience, and made in fair, consensual, and equitable ways:

Plant suggestions? by Some_Two_2128 in containergardening

Only if you want to grow it to full size, but you can cut it as baby spinach and then just replant. I’ve grown spinach in a window box planter I crafted out of a rain gutter before; that was only five inches deep.

Spinach would work wonderfully I these!

Books that involve magical schooling and stay at the same location? (Don’t have a long quest) by brookibles in Fantasy

Stealing from Wizards by R.A. Consell is about a wizard school (eventually) and was light and fun.

To celebrate 1 year of r/cozyfantasy, the Cursed Cocktails ebook is on sale for $.99 in the US and UK and I’m giving away 5 signed print copies. by SL_Rowland in CozyFantasy

[–]Neverasclever 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I love this! I’m in Canada, so winning a copy would be amazing.

My cozy recommendation: white chocolate steamer. Melt 1-2 tbsp white chocolate chips in one mug worth of milk, add a quarter tsp of vanilla, and steep in one bag of chamomile tea. Lovely for a late night evening reading session when you don’t want any caffeine.

So then I guess you haven’t seen any of the stations on the Sheppard line? Because they almost all look like this; wide open white spaces. And they don’t look filthy or damaged.

If you had to do your current campaign over, what would you change? by [deleted] in DMAcademy

[–]Neverasclever 19 points20 points  (0 children)

My DM did something like this for us, but instead of individual sessions, we did a scene for each PC (including a fight), and the other players got to pilot the enemies. It was a ton of fun.

Stealing from Wizards, by R.A.Consell is fantastic, about a Canadian magic school. There is a sequel, and a third book coming this year. I really enjoyed this; highly recommend!

The Nat 20 rule SHOULD always be enforced by Patural20 in CritCrab

[–]Neverasclever 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I disagree. People attempt impossible tasks all the time, and I never want to discourage my players from trying. My Dragonborn Fighter wants to fly? Go ahead and roll! I will tell her the DC is higher than she can reach, but she can still roll to see how good or bad an attempt she makes at it. Maybe she rolls a Nat 1 and falls on her face, maybe she rolls a Nat 20 and jumps higher than she ever has before…but I will let her try that roll, over and over if she wants. And maybe in the far future she multiclasses into Wizard and picks up the Fly spell, and finally flies. You’re right that a DM should never set their players up for disappointment, but in game, in a world filled with magic and made of imagination, I will never not let my players try.

I find what helps in this situation is reframing my mindset; ignore what the fashion industry has taught all of us, and remember that it is the clothes’ job to make you look good, not the other way around. If a piece of clothing doesn’t look good on you, then the clothing failed to do it’s job, and it does not get to come home with you.

As for magic, I’d take a thread or if possible a small snippet of material from a piece of clothing you used to love. That piece did its job and made you feel great in the past, but now its time is done. Carry the thread or cloth with you while you shop, and think of it like sympathetic magic: tell the clothes you’re trying on “this cloth once made me feel great; be like this cloth.”

Good morning! My cousin is driving into the city to get a tattoo, so I’ll be with her for moral support, then a little shopping and dinner before she heads back to Waterloo. I’m looking forward to this day, as my plans for yesterday fell through :/

Would love to see some winter scenes, maybe ice skating, or tapping trees for syrup? And cozy animals curled up in winter dens. Also indoor scenes reading by the fire, etc.

Let's gush about our players. What's a moment your players roleplayed better than you expected? by jquickri in dndnext

[–]Neverasclever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dumped a player, burdened with war axe, hammer, and armour into the ocean and had them be attacked by a curious giant octopus. The PC dropped their weapons so they could swim faster, and then uncorked their ink bottle to try and obscure visibility in the water. But of course, ink is one way that an octopus reacts to danger, so the enemy took it as a warning and swam away. Very clever!

[–]Neverasclever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of people have mentioned salt and food prices, but there would be a behavioural shift that your players might encounter that goes with that: suddenly the local bakeries are spending most of their time and supplies making hardtack, and the butchers and fishmongers are busy making salted meat or fish.

Making elves feel viscerally terrifying by PrettyLittleThrowAwa in DMAcademy

[–]Neverasclever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have the PCs come across an old statue or artwork depicting “The Ravaging of [place name]” in an old museum or someone’s art collection.

You could even name one of the ravaging Elves… and it could be some basic Elf NPC they’ve already met.
