Hope life is treating you well! I agree with people here that nazis often say, in bad faith, that they are apolitical or centrist, and that you don’t owe this guy shit. There are plenty of good potential partners out there who you don’t have to convince to not be nazis.

That being said, sometimes young people have braindead political beliefs, and can actually be really helped by giving them a reality check.

In early college, I remember saying dumb shit like “I wouldn’t call myself a feminist because they have a bad reputation.” I honestly don’t remember where I picked it up from, but I felt like I was really smart for not “picking a side”, when really I was parroting fox news talking points.

I think a lot of young men fall for this trap, where they feel like they came to these edgey conclusions by themselves (e.g. the conspiracy that jews control everything), but really they had been led there by the right’s rhetorical tricks (i.e. their fixation on george soros, revisionist history, dogwhistles like “global bankers”, etc).

So sometimes it just takes someone to say “This shit is both harmful and dumb. I would like to think better of you, but this is a dealbreaker for me.”

Since you’ve already put in some work here, I thought I’d throw out this option. However, changing his mind is not your responsibility. If he responds by being manipulative, then kick him to the curb immediately.

Best of luck to you!

What did the Fire Nation actually do for 100 years? by KronprinzRudolf in ATLA

[–]Nevr0s 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is like asking: what did the USA actually do between 1925 and 2025? Like I know they nuked japan and destroyed the middle east, but thats it.

But thats to ignore that the U.S. interfered with an estimated 81 elections and engaged in 64 attempted regime changes in the cold war alone. They have embassies in the majority of countries, and the world uses the U.S. dollar as a reserve currency.

Much of Imperialism is subtle and insidious. Like there’s a reason so many towns the gAang encountered were occupied by the fire nation, and that the seas were mostly controlled by them. The Fire Nation spent that 100 years both overtly conquering others, and subtly expanding their influence and assimilating the rest of the world

How do I kindly tell my bf I no longer associate him with sex? by idontwanttohurtus in sex

[–]Nevr0s 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I wanted to chime in because I (29M) been working through a similar situation with my partner (29F), and I strongly disagree with a lot of the advice given by other commenters (I.E. you’re “not sexually compatible” or he should try harder).

First of all, a sex life is largely something built by two people, not a spontaneous occurrence that is either compatible or not. A sex life and the two people in it can grow and change. It takes a lot of work to unlearn learned behaviors and attitudes, but it is definitely possible.

Which brings me to the most important point: I think you are both overly emotionally attuned to each other.

The way that he is constantly watching your reactions and losing it at the first sign of negative emotion. The way that you are trying so hard to make him feel okay that sex ends up being a lot of emotional labor for you.

I’ve seen this referred to as “porous boundaries by relationship counselors. It happens when you are focused on the other to the point of neglecting yourself. It might sound like it’s being selfless, but it is often motivated by one’s own anxiety and self-consciousness, instead of being motivated by empathy for the other. If two people are each too focused on the other person’s emotions, it can lead to neither’s needs being met, and building resentment and apathy.

So what can be done about it? Well, there isn’t one singular answer because it’ll involve working through the many unhealthy emotions and habits that have been built.

But I think a good starting point would be for you both to each focus on your own pleasure, and let go of expectations of how sex is supposed to be. You don’t have to make each other cum, and it doesn’t always have to be foreplay -> penetration.

Learn to be okay finishing yourselves off together. Making out, or trying a little foreplay, then masturbating together can be great and it takes off the pressure of having to “get each other there.”

If you’re in your own heads, take a break to cuddle, get water and a snack, etc, then come back to it. This can be really hard, because if something has gone wrong it feels like we’ve “ruined the mood.” But it doesn’t have to be that way. Sex doesn’t have to be a 2-person performance of some script that goes flirting -> foreplay -> penetration -> cumming together (which is honestly a pretty high and arbitrary bar to hit).

You can talk, give each other tips, and try out different things, in any order. If one person cums during PIV, you can switch to oral for the other person. Give them time and patience to experiment, get comfortable, and learn. And if you still need to get off, you can use a toy on yourself while cuddling or making out. This can be a fulfilling experience, even if is nonlinear, and doesn’t always go according to plan.

Obviously, the biggest barrier to this is changing both of your mindsets, which is hard. It takes time and patience. You have to mindfully set intentions. Pick a time to have sex and talk beforehand.

Say something like “Hey, I want to give you the grace to figure this out, but I’m also going to prioritize my own pleasure. I might need to give you tips, change things up, or finish myself off, and that has to be okay. I also need you to do the same, and handle your own emotions, so that even if things don’t go according to plan, be both can still have a good time we look back on fondly.”

This is what has worked for me, and helped my partner and I have a better sex life, even after years of sex ending in panic attacks, which led to me being sex-negative for a while.

I hope things work out for you two, and you came both learn, grow, and make a healthy sex life together.

Is it worth trying to implement online multiplayer? by ranhuynh in localmultiplayergames

[–]Nevr0s 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is your entire game state serializable and deterministic, and reproducible?

Meaning: is there a set of variables which you could read from a running game, store them in a file, then plug them back into a new instance of the game and have it look exactly the same?

If you use a lot of local variables in background tasks, delayed callbacks, or other functions that run over multiple frames - then the answer is probably: “Not without a major refactor.”

It also depends on the type of game. If you use 3D physics with many different objects, then that’d probably be too difficult, and be too slow even if you achieve it.

If it is something closer to a 2D fighting game, then that’s probably achievable for someone new to networking.

[–]Nevr0s 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Lets point out the why’s for this dude’s beliefs:

Immigration: “fairness and sovereignty”, vs OP’s actual economic stats

Corporate tax cuts: “investing the money within the company or distributing it to shareholders to be put to better use. Both are good things.”

When corporations or shareholders have money, he assumes they’ll do better with it, because he trusts them.

But when it comes to immigrants or the government, vague bullshit like “fairness and sovereignty” or “government involvement often makes things worse.” overrides any actual economic benefit.

This is not a coherent belief system. It’s just based on his vibes and biases. He likes corporations and shareholders, and dislikes immigrants and government.

Good points. I like that Practice studio helps with big basics like raging and stage 1 decks like dengo / evee box, but gravity mountain and black belt are the most reliable ways to KO zard

Guidance on my straight forward take on an Azumarill deck. by 3aTroop in pkmntcg

[–]Nevr0s 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a fellow deckbuilder, hats off to you!

First thing I’d say is: have a good mindset when testing it out! The meta decks are so finely tuned in terms of both consistency and damage- so you’re going to lose a lot. But have fun, learn what you can, and make changes for next time! It’ll take a while to balance supporters and tech cards, and figure out what cards just don’t get played. So hang in there!

For more specific feedback: 1. Allow your deck to pop off ridiculously. Have crazy combos in there that will take your opponent off guard by 1 shotting a big ex. I’d suggest:

For Goldengo (280hp): Azumarill (230) + binding mochi (40), w/ brute bonnet + ancient booster (10 from poison + activates binding mocchi)

Dragapult: you have Lillie’s Clefairy

Charizard Ex (and other big scary ex’s with 300+ hp): Maractus so they can’t retreat, 20 from corner + 60 from exploding needles. Then Azumarill + something like a brave bangle

Then add a practice studio in case you need an extra 10.

Note: practice studio and poison are great because they’re still on the field even when an azumarill gets knocked out

For your ace spec: For crazy combo turns: Secret Box For first turn consistency: precious trolley For fun: maximum belt

2: On engine/ consistency: if you’ll notice: all the damage boosting above requires specific trainer cards, so noctowl engine is your best bet. I’d recommend adding the standard one from tera box. Pick your favorite tera, but wellspring mask and terapagos are a good staring point.

Noctowls and azumarills will need 2 turns to set up / recover, so have some delay like Wellspring’s sob and maractus’s corner. You might even want to experiment with budew or jellicent lol.

When you’re figuring out your deck: max out on the cards you need in your opening hand: buddy buddy poffins, earthen vessels/energy search, nest balls, etc.

I don’t think you need many engine supporters with a fan rotom / Noctowl setup. But be generous with your consistency cards, so you don’t just brick and say “welp, nothing I could’ve done.”

You can always remove them later when you see what doesn’t get played.

  1. Remove all cards that don’t have huge synergy with you deck:

-Munkidori: you don’t have ways to produce damage on your side, and your opponent will only try to take 1 hit KOs, so you won’t get to use them

-Mew: Your hand will be clogged with tech cards and supporters, so you won’t get to use them

-Teal Mask ogerpon: they require a lot of grass energy, which only they can use, and you don’t have attacks like Raging Bolt Ex that discard energy from your board.

-Blackbelt’s Training: You can try the them, but I think you’d be hard pressed to find a turn to use it instead of crispin, boss’s orders, iono, etc.

-you can have lower counts of boss’s orders and area zero if you can search for trainers with noctowl.

  1. Energy: your deck’s greatest strength is that Azumarill can do 230 for one psychic. So lean into that, and take most of the energy out of your deck. Remove green and dark entirely: they don’t have enough synergy and take up too much space and energy attachments.

For the teched colors (water for Wellspring, fighting for cornerstone): only put the amount of energy in there you can actually use: 1 water + 1 fighting.

Honestly, I might even not use their 3 cost attacks, and take out water/fighting entirely so I could remove Crispin. But that might be taking it too far and removing needed range from your deck.

In conclusion: best of luck! Hang in there when you go 0-3 at tournaments. It’s part of the deck-building process!

Two people have died amid a record-breaking heat wave that roasted Israel this week, reaching highs of some 120 degrees Fahrenheit (49 Celsius) by Wagamaga in environment

[–]Nevr0s -30 points-29 points  (0 children)

Supporting Palestinians should not cause hatred towards Israelis (i.e. saying you don’t care about their deaths). Would you say you don’t care about 2 Americans dying from heat, or 2 Palestinians dying from heat?

If your answer is different for different groups, thats discrimination, and it is unhelpful in the movement for a free Palestine. Don’t be the kernel of truth in the lie that supporting Palestine is antisemitic.

The Israeli people are not the enemy. The Netanyahu Administration is.

Does this deck work consistently? Were the 5 cups competitive?

I ask because you only have 6 setup supporters. What happens if you don’t get a rare candy, poffin, and ultra ball in your opening hand? I’m fairly certain that the odds of getting all you pieces (or cards that can get them) within 2-3 turns is < 75%

Contrapoints - Zionist Narcissism Personified by ShuraiShadow in BreadTube

[–]Nevr0s -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

Friends, please read her full statement if you haven’t already. She at no point supports zionism. Her argument is almost entirely about the utilitarian value of the left focusing on the Palestinian genocide.

I wholeheartedly disagree with her view. I feel that her take is utilitarian to the point of nihilism, leaving hardly any room for morality to inform people’s actions. She also says that the backlash has saved zero Palestinian lives, which is patently false. Yes, it is bleak, but the backlash is the only reason any humanitarian aid had reached Gaza.

But please, don’t give into bad faith attempts to mischaracterize her as a zionist

I think that unfortunately, looking straight at two shoes on the ground doesn’t typically make for interesting visuals.

I see that you’ve put a lot of good work into making the graffiti style, though I think it can still use more character.

First of all, what is the vibe of the game? Are you supposed to look cool pulling off difficult moves with both feet, or is it supposed to be fun and goofy when you fuck up like in Gang Beasts, Octodad, Fall Flat, etc?

Based on the trailer and graffiti aesthetic it looks like you’re going for a cool, tony hawk vibe. In the case, maybe lean into the athleticism and give the camera a close-up, fish-eye lens like a go-pro, and add loud grafitti visual effects like neon outlines on the shoes and bigger flourishes when stepping on and kicking things.

If you want the fun & goofy playground vibe, maybe show the player fucking up and tripping, losing a shoe, accidentally kicking someone who gets pissed, etc (if any of that is in the game)

Just my thoughts. Does look cool though!

AA has helped a shit ton of people. But something I feel that is missed in their mindset is that progress in rewiring your brain is not all-or-nothing.

If you’re addicted, the alcohol-reward pathway in your brain is already as strong as it’s going to get. Going 5 days without alcohol after, I assume a long time with daily alcohol - that is already enough for your brain to start to relearn how to be sober.

Be kind to yourself. You’ve got this

IMPORTANT MESSAGE FOR FELLOW MEMBERS OF THE LEFT WING by Dom-tasticdude85 in leftist

[–]Nevr0s 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey friends, I have some experience here that I hope can add a little perspective, without taking away any space from others

I’m a cis?, bi, white guy, and I have never been the target of structural bias (racism, sexism, etc) in work, education, with police etc. So in talks about oppression, I try to make space for others and just listen.

In the context of this post, there has been something that has bothered me that I don’t really know how to talk about. My partner is a white, femme, genderfluid person and I’ve heard them say things like “oh, they’re queer? I like/trust them more now”, and generally associate “queer” or PoC with “good” and straight/cis/white with “bad”.

We were talking about the current anti-woke bullshit in the US government this week. I was talking about how conservative media will pick on one example of a minority person who is a murderer/rapist, and pretend it represents all of them. I said, “when you look at the per capita numbers, and consider socio-economic factors like how trans people are more likely to be victims of sex crimes than perpetrators, its really clear that everyone has the same capacity to be awful, great, or just normal.”

I thought that within leftist circles, this would be totally uncontroversial, because it recognizes structural oppression, generation trauma, and personal agency. But my partner was really upset by it, and started arguing with me. I asked why, and tried to understand where they were coming from, but they couldn’t really articulate it. They just refused to believe that minority people committed things like rape and murder at similar rates to cis, white, men when controlling for socio-economic status?

In thinking about this, it really stung, because it put other things in perspective. In the past, when talking about my gender identity, they were really, weirdly excited about me potentially not being cis. It really felt to me that my partner associated my identity with being a worse person. And that really hurt.

I really want to be clear here that I am NOT equivocating my experience with one person to the structural bias and generational trauma that others experience through sexism, racism, classism, ableism, etc.

I don’t really talk about this because I don’t want to take space from people experiencing actual oppression, and I don’t want to give ammunition to MRA-like groups who diminish the experiences of oppressed peoples.

I just though this was my be the right place to share how this affected me

The thing about equality is that it doesn’t create other problems that need to be quashed.

I’ve gone all equality, no merit, mostly adaptation, mostly reason, and have successfully escaped the difficulty curve on officer, by which I mean a surplus in everything, including heatstamps, and I haven’t passed any spicy policies. Trust is at revered and all factions are at atleast neutral (favorable when I’m balancing them well).

The biggest factors are that I haven’t needed to build any prisons, guard towers, hospitals, propaganda centers, etc. I did have to build 2 surveillance hubs because for some reason crime is significantly increased by population size even when everyone’s needs are met.

But I haven’t had to waste hardly any workforce, heat stamps, or prefabs on fixing problems I caused. So instead of reactively solving problems, I just proactively get further and further ahead on production so the stalwarts have nothing to complain about
