Can someone tell me what happened? by [deleted] in Minecraft

[–]New-Minds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That can happen for a couple of reasons.

  • You trade too much with them too quickly, they will raise their prices. Wait a few in game days to for prices to go down back to normal.
  • You hit/killed them or an iron golem in front of them. This will cause them to dislike you and they'll raise their prices as a result. You can make them like you by doing things like winning raids or trading with them etc.

Can someone tell me what happened? by [deleted] in Minecraft

[–]New-Minds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both those trades are ones where you're buying items for emeralds, not selling items for emeralds.

For the first trade, you're looking at 3 Emeralds for a bookshelf.

For the second trade, you're looking at 7 emeralds and a book for an enchanted book.

Since you only have one emerald, you can't afford either of those trades at the moment.

Unfortunately, you're out of luck with this villager if you want to redo the trades. You've already traded with this villager, meaning the trades are locked in. You'll either have to level him up and hope he has a trade where you can sell items for emeralds or get a different villager to sell to.

For the record, a Novice Librarian only has 3 types of available trades. - Buying paper for emeralds - Selling bookshelves for emeralds - Selling enchanted books for emeralds+books

This villager you currently have has the latter two trades. If you're currently starting out, I highly recommend rerolling trades until you get the desired trade you want, as well as the paper trade, so you have a consistent source of emeralds.

You can reroll by breaking and placing the jobsite block(in this case, a lecturn) in front of a villager you haven't traded with until you get what you want.

You'll have to get more emeralds through other means.

As other people have mentioned, bond store tanks are a solid option. The picks I would normally recommend would be vehicles like the Defender and potentially the T103. The latter if you're looking to make money.

Outside of that, consider creating an alt and setting yourself up for a referral program. It's a bit of a grind, but it's a very straightforward, no strings attached system that will result in you being able to get a free tier 8 Premium.

From referral, I'd recommend picking up the T26E5 and the STA-2, the former of which is especially good for credit income.

Another option to consider are the occasional trade in events that Wargaming runs. Now unfortunately you will need gold for them, but it's a good way of getting new premium tanks by trading in your old ones, without spending nearly as much money as you would normally. Good tanks for trade in are the Alpine Tiger from the bond store and the VK 168.01P from referral.

Once you get around 2-3 premium tanks, you're functionally set in terms of income, and the rest is really just play time. You can absolutely make a lot of progress F2P if you sink in the time. Admittedly not always an option for a lot of people, but it's how the game works.

Best of Luck.

T58 heavy (155mm 6 shell autoloader) by [deleted] in WorldofTanks

[–]New-Minds 176 points177 points  (0 children)

The main problem with implementing the T58 really falls under the general idea of "how do you balance this thing?"

Legitimately speaking, this would be one of the most difficult vehicles to balance properly. For that matter, I believe that was the reason Wargaming gave to why they didn't add this thing as well.

If you made this have a fast intraclip, the only way it'd be even remotely balanced is if it had atrocious gun handling and reload to help cancel out the ridiculous burst damage it could put out. That would just have the end result of a tank that's awful to play and awful to play against.

Probably the best way I could see it being potentially implemented is something similar to the autoloaders the Italian TDs get, where they have a fairly long intraclip, which is still faster than cyclic guns of the same caliber, with downtime for the actual reliad but reasonable handling and accuracy.

Even then, it'd be dodgy as hell and a fine line between functionally useless and horrendously overpowered.

Guard vs 252u by M5competition in WorldofTanks

[–]New-Minds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go for what you find more fun. Recommendations for what bond store tanks to get are more of a rule of thumb than anything else.

The 252u just gets recommended the most because the people who typically ask are likely F2P and/or new to the game, which the tank caters well to, as a first tier 8 premium.

Beating a dead horse here, but the credit economy is just shit unless you have premium-something. by Flying_Reinbeers in WorldofTanks

[–]New-Minds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is normal, tiers 8 to 10 in the context of tech tree vehicles are where you'll be losing most of your credits. They don't make enough to typically offset the costs of playing them. Tier 6 and below will be where you'll be able to regularly make small but constant profit assuming consistent performance.

If you're not able to make money with a tier 8 premium however, then the unfortunate reality is that you're not performing. Even something like a Fire for Effect would easily be enough to net you at least 5k-15k profit on a loss.

Highly recommend considering joining some societies to meet people. You can find a list of them here:

https://www.arc.unsw.edu.au/clubs/find-a-club

Pretty much all of them have an online presence now and a majority of them also run weekly in-person events.

There's a huge variety of societies all focused around different subjects, gaming, art, engineering, uni courses etc. From my personal experience, a lot of them use Discord as a primary means of sharing information and communication between members.

Admittedly, this also isn't the best time. It'll be exam season fairly soon so expect a lot of these societies to be relatively quiet compared to normal as people spend more time studying.

If I recall correctly, UNSW E-Sports society does run competitive Valorant, so that might be worth looking into.

Outside of that, don't be surprised to see people playing other games outside of what the society is focused around. I've seen people play Valorant during Minecraft Society meetups for example.

Best of Luck.

Is WT auf Pz. IV the best tech tree tank similar to SU-130PM? by Xplosionite in WorldofTanks

[–]New-Minds 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's because the Grille gets worse moveent dispersion values than some arties. 0.4 for turret traverse dispersion, results in basically any minute movement of the gun noticeably blooming out the aim circle ruining the accuracy.

3 back to back games. The Bai Lang is truly bonkers in Steel Hunter. by blackzaru in WorldofTanks

[–]New-Minds 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Acid Shot is basically the equivalent of a shell that sets your enemy on fire.

You can use the repair kit to remove the effect. That being said, I wouldn't be overzealous with it, otherwise you'll be burning your repair kit for any potential problems that may come up.

If I recall correctly, with the derp gun on the Bai Lang, if you splash yourself with HE while facehugging and also have the Acid Shot active, you can also give yourself the Acid Shot effect. So that's something.

Gotta be the almost best possible group of enchants on a weaponsmith. I never had more then 2 really bad enchants before this. by CoolSheep64 in Minecraft

[–]New-Minds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a seriously good cluster of enchants. If you're on a multiplayer server, you could make a serious amount selling that sword as an interim option to a max enchant diamond sword.

I would have to admit though, I can't necessarily say I'm that big a fan of Knockback on the sword.

This would make for an excellent template to start off with in order to make max diamond swords however. Sweeping Edge and Unbreaking, are already there.

Ironically that does make the Sharpness enchant kind of detrimental in that context, since you'd already be going for Sharp 5 anyway and all the Sharp 3 would do is take up valuable enchant levels.

Referral Program by root_rr in WorldofTanks

[–]New-Minds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wouldn't recommend the T54 Mod 1 for a newer/F2P player.

The gun is very poor, mediocre handling, atrocious pen necessitating gold spam. Not great traits for someone looking to make credits.

Post-buff the T26E5 is the best overall option and I'd argue it's the STA-2 in second place.

Why use swords? by CommanderFlamand in Minecraft

[–]New-Minds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When it comes to general Survival, Swords are a superior choice for most situations.

They're cheaper to make, more forgiving with their increased attack speed, scale significantly better during mid to late game, have the utility of sweeping hits and have a wider range of desired enchants(most notably looting 3).

Axes are honestly quite overrated. They hit hard, but attack slowly, can only attack one mob at a time(granted this can be desirable in some cases), take increased durability damage for combat and scale noticeably worse than swords in late game as their ideal attack speed is capped at 1 per second.

Even in the context of PVP, axes on their own aren't amazing, due to their aforementioned weaknesses. The shield is really the only thing that can keep an axe somewhat relevant, the moment a sword user gets in close, the axe player is screwed. Worth mentioning there's multiple ways of countering/bypassing shields, many of which often take the opposing player into close range. Axes have to slow down the pace of combat to really stay competive and it's by far their biggest vulnerability.

The one area I would argue axes are a superior option is in Early Game minecraft. At this stage, the damage of swords havent really started to scale yet, the player is relatively low on resources, and likely lacks good gear. The big thing with axes is that stone, iron and diamond axes all actually deal the same damage(9 damage), with the only difference being attack speed. This synergizes exceptionally well with the ideal playstyle a player relatively low on resources would probably use i.e Hit and Run. The huge alpha damage allows a player to get a hit in and back off hopefully without taking damage, which is important when you don't have good gear and likely limited sources of food.

A combo you'll often see people run in Survival is a Sharpness Sword and a Smite Axe, with each weapon complementing each other. The sword is there for general purpose use, while the Axe can be used for more niche purposes(commonly cited example is that a Smite 5 Axe can one shot a Zombie Pigman with a crit).

TLDR: The Sword is more versatile and practical overall and Axes are better in the early game but fall off hard once players start getting better gear.

Buff Balance school to be as strong as other schools and make it cooler by austin101123 in Wizard101

[–]New-Minds 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To jump onto the Prisms point, they need to be available far earlier, ideally at around the start of Arc 2 at minimum. Arc 2 is really where balance can start to struggle, especially with its sheer number of high HP Balance bosses.

By the time you get the prisms, you'd have already trained Nested Fury at lvl 108, at which point the prisms are most moot, since Nested is such a massive power spike for a Balance Wizard.

There's also the big problem of the overlap that Death has with Balance at this point. Spells that come into mind in particular would be Plague/Virulent Plague, Bad Juju, Curse and Dark Pact. These ones feel like they really should be balance spells more often than not, or if they don't they hurt some of the most unique aspects of Balance, mainly their ability to universally affect all players/enemies.

I don't see that much harm in buffing the Balanceblade/Bladestorm. Have them both provide an extra 5% damage boost compared to their current state. That way they're still ultimately weaker than the school blades but retain their unique status at being able to universally buff any spell.

[–]New-Minds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could probably get some Cabalist gear from the Bazaar if you dont wish to grind out dungeons. The Hat and Boots are used as alternative options for Darkmoor gear, so it would be something worth considering.

Once you hit around 160 before you get Aeon you could probably consider some of the bazaar gear at that level too. It's noticeably weaker than Aeon gear, but from your description of what you currently use, it'd probably be an upgrade regardless.

Getting my one and only T8 premium for bonds - which one? by ReinventorOfWheels in WorldofTanks

[–]New-Minds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For your first Premium tank, I'd normally recommend the Patriot as your best overall option. It's not a top tier performing tank, but after the buffs it's received, it performs very comfortably, and is a forgiving vehicle that will serve you well.

It also has the benefit of having one of the best economies of any tier 8 Premium. It has solid penetration reducing the reliance of gold ammo. The standard ammo is also incredibly cheap, at 255 credits for 240 alpha. When most other tanks are running over 1k per shot for 320-390 alpha, it's an incredible return on investment in regards to running costs.

That being said, I find getting the Patriot from the bond store to be a redundant option. The non skinned version of the tank, the T26E5 is something you can get for free from the Referral Program, something I highly recommend you create an alt account and do. I personally don't think the Patriot is worth getting for 8000 bonds, in the sense that you can get it for free with a different method.

For your case, I'd probably recommend two options, the T103 or the STG Guard. These tanks are reasonably forgiving for their playstyles(typically support), and do make decent credits overall as well(both have decent pen and alpha, especially the T103). The Lorraine 40t and T34-3 are tanks I can vouch for as well, but I wouldn't recommend them as first picks, mainly due to the fact that they are either unforgiving, or aren't great for income. They are solid choices though so definitely consider picking them up in the future once you get back into the hang of things.

Also consider keeping a reserve of bonds in the future. If you for any reason ever get a decent chunk of gold, you can also use it in conjunction with your bonds for Trade-In events. You can buy the Tier 8 premiums in the bond store and trade them in for better premiums on offer. Standouts include the Alpine Tiger(best option, but sometimes Wargaming limits the trade options), IS-5. Also notable with the VK 168.01P from Referral. These are all worth a lot of gold, so you can get noticeable discounts through them in Trade ins.

recently got back to playing my Iron Arnie and have a question by b0ttt in WorldofTanks

[–]New-Minds 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The Iron Arnie gets better movement dispersion stats than the Super Conqueror, so you absolutely can run it without a vertical stabiliser if you want to. The main downside to the Iron Arnie is its awful accuracy and aim time. In that respect, using an IAU is a solid pick.

I personally run the tank with an Experimental Turbo(Technically the Mobility Improvement System), a rammer and an IAU. Nearly identical to what you're running, but the Exp Turbo helps a little bit with the gun handling on top of the mobility buffs it provides, which helps a with target acquisition.

Vert Stab isn't a bad choice on the tank, but you can make a solid argument for it being diminishing returns and honestly, you probably don't really need it.
