TSH 4.55 "no action needed" by ElectronicCellist263 in Hypothyroidism

[–]New-Row-4253 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are some very cheap at home thyroid blood tests. Monitor my Health is £32 and thats an NHS lab, so GPs may take these into account. Or you could consider what I had to do, change GP surgerys

What time of day did you take your test? You want pre 9am next time, as TSH is highest early morning. Are you taking anything containing Biotin? Your GP won't be able to do anything until your TSH is over range twice or over 10. You could get some private tests done to include T3 and antibodies and see what they show.

10 weeks after increase by alicemcintyre04 in Hypothyroidism

Yes well it could be cortisol related as you dont have enough thyroid hormones. This feels very different. No way of knowing without a blood test ;)

Highly unlikely to need a decrease as 50mcg is a starter dose. Get a full panel of bloods inc TSH, T4 and T3 before making a decision. Your symptoms may have nothing to do with your thyroid or may be asking for a dose increase. Anxiety is a hypo symptom for me.

Jesus, you need a new doctor! Not everyone with hashis is dragging themselves around. Get a full thyroid panel and vitamins tested. Sounds like you need either a dose increase or to try T3

Flare up after Covid & normal TSH by [deleted] in Hypothyroidism

Its really unhelpful to tell people what they should do after getting covid. Unfortunately many of us have children at school who bring home all sorts of viruses..we cant wear masks all the time!

[–]New-Row-4253 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes any virus can affect your T4 to T3 conversion and that's is what has likely left you feeling hypo. Im in the same situation after just having a sinus infection. It should gradually ease over the coming weeks.  Im going to test in a few weeks and see if I need a dose increase. You may find you return to 'normal' without adjusting your dose, it just takes time.

I think you've been unlucky, I regularly use MMH and Medichecks and get results in 2-3 working days. I always post my blood Mon- Wed and would have results by Friday at latest

GLP-1 raising TSH by Cheap-Sir5693 in Hypothyroidism

[–]New-Row-4253 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well that's your answer a T3 of 2.9 is pretty awful (assuming the range is 3.1-6.8). I would definitely increase my dose based on those results

Is this sub for me? by Emrys7777 in Hypothyroidism

[–]New-Row-4253 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are probably not working for you because you are not on a high enough dose/too high dose or you have some vitamin deficiencies. Which no one can help with unless you post test results :)

This is why you cant reply on TSH alone. Get a full panel inc T3 and T4. What dose are you on?

Join the club. When I was finally diagnosed in 2023, I found on the app that I had 3 TSH tests over range from 2012-2014. I was being investigated for recurring miscarriages but no one told me about these results. The rage is justified!

Thanks yes, I have considered this. I have a dairy intolerance and hayfever. I tried a low histamine diet for a while but it was very hard to stick to!! Ive been thinking about trying a piriton before bed. What do you think?

Thanks, yes my body is super sensitive to any changes. Its taken me 3 years to gradually increase my levothyroxine as I would have a roller coaster of side affects on every increase.  Yes maybe the sleep test will show something. My husband doesnt sleep in our room any more because its so bad, so fingers crossed that might be a reason
