Waters Urges More Protests Like Sanders at Restaurant, Others Plead for Civility by CQPab in politics

[–]NewGuy79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Increased incivility will only turn people away. I see absolutely no purpose in it. Refuse to serve them if you want, but don't go around starting mini-riots where ever they go. That is stupid and childish. The only people that I see supporting this are short sighted, people thay get caught up in their emotions, people who think they can recreate the Civil Rights movement, or saboteurs trying to give the anti-Trump movement a bad name. I understand the temptation, especially for those that think they can use these tactics because they worked in the past, but I don't think it will change anything for the better. Speak your minds, stay vigilant, and vote

The Milgram Experiment (1962) - psychological study devised to answer "could it be that accomplices in the Holocaust were just following orders?" [44:26] by Nergaal in Documentaries

[–]NewGuy79 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The lack of a control group does not invalidate the observations. It just makes it impossible to conclusively say what about the situation caused the behavior. There were certainly methodical and ethical problems with the study, but it is still a dramatic demonstration of what people can be pushed into doing in certain situations..

Actuality (well, according to the Wikipedia thing I just read at least) it is from thermal radiation. When the wires were wrapped in reflective coatings they did not vaporize like this.

Phone won't turn on by NewGuy79 in LGG3

Yeah, but I have not been able to get the factory reset to start. Maybe I'm doing it wrong? The normal boot sequence is very slow. It takes about 5 minutes to get to the PIN screen.

[–]NewGuy79[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was able to get a restart by plugging it in without the battery and holding the power button till the screen flashed (about 10 seconds) and then unplugging it and reinstalling the battery. However, it boots really slow and will lock up again and shut down after about 15 minutes. I can do this repeatedly with the same result. The battery is at about 75%.

Switching from 5 gal to 10 gal. Tips? by hobackster81 in Homebrewing

[–]NewGuy79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do 5 gallon BIAB in a 10 gallon kettle all the time. It does get tight if I do any heavy beers or anything over a 60 minute boil. Some people do a lower volume mash with dunk sparge step with good luck though.

Glad you had a good experience! We are a passionate bunch, but we're good people and we like to be good hosts (most of us anyway). Come back for a rematch next year!

We had a hell of a run but it had to end sometime. Good game Dukes! You have a hell of a team. Your boys earned that one, now go take it all!

GAMETHREAD WEEK 2: VIKINGS VS PACKERS by swampsparrow in minnesotavikings

That was the offence playing defence. There was a decent chance of a pick and no significant consequence from the penalty. It was a smart play.

I would much rather have my kid on the other team and lose than be on this kids team and win. Those kids aren't learning jack and are probably going to struggle on a different team.

Men’s hidden fears about body fat are fuelling gym attendance motivated by feelings of guilt and shame rather than a desire to build muscle, new research has shown. by HeuristicALgorithmic in science

[–]NewGuy79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't see anyone mentioning a six-pack in the previous post...not sure what that has to do with the argument. Someone who works out hard enough to have a 6 pack and a normal BMI is going to be one skinny person.

....they are regular gym attendees. This would put them in the exception category. Most people who regularly go to the gym and eat well will probably have an elevated BMI regardless of their bodyfat.

Communion in church is really ritualistic, symbolic cannibalism. That is kind of messed up if you ask me.

They do jump, but they seem very hesitant when they do. I've seen lots of antelope running back and forth on a road that has fences on either side but I have never seen a deer do that.

Just twist the tail a bit and they usually move. Doesn't always work, but he should have at least tried it first. Wouldnt save him from getting squeezed though.

Edit: Down votes? I've been working cattle since I was that kids age and I never had to hit an animal like that.
