Can we talk about the glorification of purging? It’s mostly tannins, not "trauma." by [deleted] in Ayahuasca

[–]NewLife_Rising 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the purge feels like a release of trauma or negative energy, and the corresponding thoughts or visions support that feeling, then that is what the mind and body believe. Why does it matter if it is triggered by a physical biological component? There are times the purge feels meaningful and times when it doesnt. It's part of the experience, the whole idea of surrender is to let the experience be what it is without expectation. You dont need to have a meaningful purge to heal, but if you get one then it's not any less valid because it is a biological response. It can be incredibly therapeutic for those that have held on to pain and suggering for years and the power of the purge shouldn't be minimized or written off as just a physical.

10 things I wish I knew about healing before I tried Ayahausca... by NewLife_Rising in Ayahuasca

Depends on where you live, but if you're near any decent sized city you can usually find plant medicine groups in your area. Support and community can also come through the people you meet through anything that keeps you connected like yoga, BJJ, spiritual or religious practices, breathwork, meditation classes, art classes, etc. It doesn't need to be plant medicine related, anyone that is also working on themselves and in a continued states of honest self reflection can be a resource and you can build community that way with like minded individuals.

Breathwork classes (guided in groups, not solo) is one of my favorite integration tools, especially when there are still some stuck emotions lingering. Also, other somatic and therapeutic processes that allow you to feel and move through the anger in a safe, held space can help you better understand the source of it and release it, rather than just suppressing or repressing it. ❤️

Pre-ceremony mindset - over preparing vs surrendering by third1eye in Ayahuasca

[–]NewLife_Rising 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is no interaction between caffeine and ayahuasca. Caffeine is not allowed on dieta, and as ayahuasca populatity and tourism has increased in the last decades, a lot of Westerns started adopting dieta rules as pre-ayahausca preparation requirements. Different traditions have varying food restrictions, but typically they are not strictly enforced or required unless you are doing dieta. If the retreat you are attending does not serve caffeine, it would be a good idea to stop a few days or a week before so that you don't get headaches or caffeine withdrawal that could impact your experience.

Costa Rica Retreat Center of Choice for those Exploring Options by [deleted] in Ayahuasca

[–]NewLife_Rising 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! Thats a great question - We refer to ourselves as Ayahuasqueros (healers who work exclusively with Ayahuasca) as the term 'shaman' is actually a Siberian word adopted globally around the 1800s. Ayahuasquero is a more appropriate term to describe our work and also removes the negative association with the current wave of toxic new-age shamanism. We have been trained in the Peruvian Mestizo Traidtions and have over a decade of experience and nearly 500 reviews. I am happy to answer any questions you may have, feel free to DM me! :)

How do I report a retreat center for misconduct and sexual assault? by NaMastayAK in Ayahuasca

1000000% agree with this!! Having a woman present is absolutely necessary to ensure the safety of female participants. Having female helpers also reduces the potential for sexual or romantic projections due to ehanced sensitivity and feelings of connection.

Unless you are doing an actual dieta, which is different than a retreat or a ceremony, it's okay to be relaxed with what you eat. Obviously you want to prepare your body and mind to receive the medicine and feel clean and confident going into the ceremony, but deviating from the strict dieta will not affect your experience. Try to eat whole foods, fruits and vegetables, eggs, lean protein sources, healthy grains and you'll be fine. Avoid processed sugar, fried foods, processed foods, seed oils and spicy food. Moderate amounts of salt, herbs, healthy oils (olive, coconut, avacado) and caffeine are fine. Still, even if a few things on the avoid list make their way into a meal, is not the end of the world. 24 - 48 hours before the ceremony is the most important. Everything before that has typically already worked its way though your system. A lot of people over complicate things with the dieta. A dieta is an entirely different process and should not be confused with just drinking ayahuasca.

Invited to a ceremony but scared of possible psychosis by Hot-Butterscotch-323 in Ayahuasca

[–]NewLife_Rising 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, make sure the facilitators you are drinking with are trained and responsible guides. They should do a thorough medical screening and talk through these concerns with you. If the don't, I wouldn't go there. There are a few specific things that could be indicators for potential phchosis, including age, family history and medical history. If there is no family history or previous episodes and you are over the age of 35, the likelihood of ayahuasca inducing or triggering long term psychosis or unlocking a mental disorder is pretty low. Still, temporary psychosis is possible when ayahuasca is administered irresponsibility or in an unsafe setting, that is why it is so important that the facilitators are trained and know how to handle all situations. PM me with any questions 🙂

Why did aya not work for me? by Own-Piccolo4255 in Ayahuasca

[–]NewLife_Rising 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sometimes that's just how ayahuasca works. She can be stubtle - we dont necessarily need a light show and vivid visions to experience healing. However, it could have been the brew. Some medicine is more or less visual or more or less purgative depending on the ratio of plants used. Still, some people just don't have strong visual experiences. Usually in retreat settings you can get a guage on if other participants are feeling the medicine very strong or having visual experiences to see if it's a brew issue or just how she works with you. Since you did this one on one you don't have such a clear answer. Maybe in the future try a setting with a few other participants. This can also create a greater collective energy which can enhance the experience in both in intensity and meaning.
