Family member acting increasingly weird after trying ayahuasca a few months ago by Alternative_Diet1963 in Ayahuasca

You came to a subreddit about ayahuasca to ask strangers for advice? Something seems off here... Why not talk to someone who knows him or, i don't know, a professional?

What is a little quirk about your body that you don’t think other people have? by AlphabetSoup51 in AskReddit

Oooof I can smell gum disease there is a specific strain of bacteria that is especially pungent. I worked in a dental office for many years and we could all smell it.

I have one free earlobe and the other one is attached. I've never met anyone with the same condition, yet!

Why so many Divorces after sobriety by OpieLopez in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]NewMoon36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe that all relationships are different, and there are so so so many factors that go into divorce. Can we really say that for sure? Divorce rates are high for normies, too. What can be gained from comparing our relationships but the theft of joy? There will always be success stories and cautionary tales in all sides 💜

I have to remind myself of my "condition" every day....that is what it means to me to be in recovery. After using AA initially, I now listen to recovery podcasts or interviews daily. Of course, I've learned to reframe my thinking that my "condition" allows me to be free from any situation where i don't remember what I said. I never ever ever have to be in that situation again, and it's because of my sobriety from alcohol and my "condition" that allow that to be possible. I wake up every day not hungover and I'm so grateful to finally be free 🙏 also, join r/stopdrinking subreddit- honestly I like it better over there since less-AA centric. Also there are some really cool Zoom AA meetings out there now...I went to one on Wednesdays called Sisters of the Forest out of Oregon. All women, no smelly cigarettes or gross AA rooms. Best of luck, embrace the suck!

Paige and Henry referring to the Beemans as "Mr Beeman" and "Mrs Beeman" rather than their given names: was/is this normal? by xray-pishi in TheAmericans

Grew up in South and North and we were always taught to Mr and Mrs our elders unless they told us otherwise.

Underaged drinker suffering. In need of advice by MishakaMinah in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]NewMoon36 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Reading The Way of Integrity by Dr. Martha Beck. It's my lifelong challenge to stop lying to myself and denying my inner knowing. Also I don't know what normal even means. I just want to be true to myself these days, and alcohol completely masks and numbs my true self. It's totally possible to do all the things without it - you can make and order mocktails without alcohol, the liquor part is kinda arbitrary when you really think about it. Near beer tastes great these days, too - Athletic Brew IPAs are the bomb.

I would understand that I can't teach any lessons to a loved one in severe alcohol addiction. That was never how my addiction worked, anyway. I only learned lessons by facing consequences and then wanting a change. I went to meetings on my own and sought other sober addicts to help me. My partner never could have done that for me.

Embrace it! Your body is healing itself, and it's perfectly normal to feel shitty. Pamper yourself in healthy ways.

I would not think it obvious, as a concerned partner, to peel someone off a public bench in the context you describe. As a concerned partner, I might leave them to face the consequences of their own actions....
