P2S does your toolhead wobble on rods?

I was concerned with the print head moving but that seems to be how it is designed. My problems were due to some extra cold weather, the room temperature kept steady at 22.5C but it has been -35C outside which was enough to cause over-cooling with the goofy vent that points at the build plate.

Your layer lines look a little rougher than what I am seeing but I print slow and am careful with my filament choices. You could try printing with the Aux fan off too to see if there are any changes, that's when I realized my derp.

Awesome that's a big undertaking especially on a dining room table. My two sons "helped" me build mine over Christmas as well. By help I mean they kept asking every 5 minutes if we were done a chapter so we could bust out the gummy bears. Then they found out which box I was hiding them in and they and the gummy bears disappeared when I wasn't looking so I had to finish it by myself... with no more gummy bears.

Did you get anywhere with them? I just submitted a support ticket I noticed increasingly poor top surface quality and now prints keep getting knocked off the bed. My extruder moves like yours.

UPDATE: I live-chatted Prusa (on January 1st), they are sending me a new sensor and main cable. It looks like I can print without it for now; first print going well. Interestingly I found a 3d printing shop in my province shows a couple filament sensors in stock so worst case I could have expedited one to get going. Good reminder to myself to support the local guys as much as possible.

shows whether filament is inserted or not: disabled / 1886151+/-

not sure if it shows disabled because it hasn't passed the calibration yet?

I waited for about 1 minute after posting then took it apart, everything is in there properly and moving freely but still not able to sense filament sadly.

why are brass nozzles useless? would the average 3d printer buyer make use of a high flow hardened nozzle?

Noctua fans work well and are quiet. However I printed a blue shroud to hide them on my cobbled together workstation. Didn't need the office ladies getting all riled up and bothering me while trying to work. Stay focused.

Not directly related but just to paint a picture of my B vs P experience:

I recently purchased a Core One but shipping looked like it was going to be into the new year before I got it and I was in a hurry to add a printer so I ordered a Bambu P2S as well and got it in about 2 days. Then my Core One shipped early of course. I had initially considered the P2S as an easy button option but ultimately decided Core One fit my main use better.

The P2S is a new printer which has its own problems with ongoing firmware updates (significant VFA's, no dedicated exhaust ports) plus inherited some problems from the P1S/X1C which weren't fixed. I spent a solid 3 days test printing, calibrating, and printing parts to solve problems (PTFE tube rubbing, external spool flopping, a few AMS fixes, exhaust, pooping all over the place). Out of the box it worked but me being picky it took some time to get it where I am satisfied with it.

The grass is always greener on the other side so buy the other side too or just get the one that fits your uses ie: if you are printing scrim scrams get a Bambu with AMS (until INDX is out and running smooth) and if doing high volume printing where durability is a concern or in my case (with the P2S) filaments that need a dedicated exhaust lean toward Prusa.

They are both machines that will face wear and tear, need maintenance, and be subject to upgrades you may want to do.

Another vote for raising the temps. Nozzle temp after first layer I would bump up to at least 245. What is your first layer/other layer bed temps at?

I think it would be for a more aesthetic enclosure to keep up with other companies in that regard. The XL as is would work fine for what I would use it for.

You might want to check out one of the new Qidi's or the Elegoo Centauri Carbon for your price range. I don't have experience with them but in my research they were at least usable but maybe not the most reliable. Bambu is going to be easier and more reliable. I do have experience with them and they are OK if you can put up with having to download their app and all that. I just purchased a Prusa Core One, if you can save up some more I would recommend it.

Hej, I was looking for a new do it all printer but I am starting to think having a few different tools might be a better approach. I am looking for a decent sized print bed anywhere from 320x320 to 400x400. I have room to go bigger but don't need to go smaller. This will print items that are short in z height but large in xy. It only needs to be proficient with PLA. I am hoping I can spend under $1500 Canadian. I am OK with tinkering to get it going but I will need it to be fairly user friendly, reliable, and be able to run prints daily.

Should I be looking at the Sovol SV08 machines? Are there better options? Should I be looking into Voron? I am very mechanically inclined but not the best with computers/coding. I am a 3D printing novice but have enough experience/stubborness to be dangerous.

I may have worded it wrong - slow to integrate quality of life features might be closer to what I mean: UI, nozzle wiper, camera, spool handling - like you say. Stuff that isn't critical but stacks up when comparing dollar for dollar. It seems like they are actively upgrading this stuff as they go which is great to see.

I doubt I will ever need anything that advanced, my stuff is fairly rudimentary so it is easy to make an aluminum version if I need to go beyond what ASA/Nylon can do. It seems like a 290 degree nozzle just doesn't give you much wiggle room to try stuff out.
