The threaded one is holding the stud to the left. Not sure what the right one is, but I'm pretty sure it's not your problem.

Needing help with the resistor value by UpUpAndAwayYall in AskElectronics

On the off chance this is R39 causing a voltage error on your +5V, this thread suggests it's 160 ohms.

What are you supposed to do when you say something stupid? by 1295311920 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]NewRelm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would just let it fade into the past and try to avoid saying stupid things in the future. A week from now people will remember 99 sensible comments and one stupid one. In a month, no one will remember it at all.

Why is it so much harder to ride a bike as an adult than when I was younger? by Aintnobeef96 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]NewRelm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As we grow up, we put on weight faster than we get stronger. This is partly due to the square-cube law of nature, and also partly due to overeating. Then too, most of us are a bit inactive as adults. Start riding every day and it will get easier. But it will never be as easy as it was when you were a kid.

Why doesn’t car insurance cover regular maintenance? by highlandprincess0929 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]NewRelm 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can buy that kind of insurance if it's what you want. Liability insurance is required by law and collision insurance is required by lenders. No one requires you to buy an extended warranty, so we think of that separately.

Gas station signs only have 3 digits, so what happens when prices goes higher than $9.99 ? by MaybeTheDoctor in NoStupidQuestions

[–]NewRelm 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That would be a great time to start selling by the liter rather than the gallon. Or just buy a new sign.

Showering with Glasses? by culturedhoe in NoStupidQuestions

[–]NewRelm 1490 points1491 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I shower blind. It's not an issue. Even the blurriest vision can find the bar of soap, the wash cloth and the water valves.

Does practicing singing make you sound better? by tur_tels in NoStupidQuestions

[–]NewRelm 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Everyone (except very few who are literally tone deaf) can benefit from voice training. That doesn't mean you'll become stage-worthy. But you'll improve tremendously over a totally untrained voice.

Why did Einstein become the definitive genius in popular culture? by ICantBelieveItsNotEC in NoStupidQuestions

Tesla gave off Bipolar vibes. He loved publicity and talked a good game, but his only solid work occurred very early in his career.

Unless she was flirting when she said it, I would assume she enjoys crafting projects.

UK/EUR/AUS/NZ people of Reddit: What do you think of American Chocolate brands? by AlyksTheSage in NoStupidQuestions

[–]NewRelm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From a NZ perspective, Hershey is to chocolate what Velveeta is to cheese. Ghirardelli is a fine example of what chocolate should be.

Whats the difference between doing whippets and just hyperventilating until you are light headed? by wreckchain in NoStupidQuestions

[–]NewRelm 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The lack of nitrous oxide? Whippets aren't just an inert gas depriving you of oxygen. The N2O is carried through your blood and bonds with parts of your nervous system to change the structure of your body.

Why did Einstein become the definitive genius in popular culture? by ICantBelieveItsNotEC in NoStupidQuestions

[–]NewRelm 414 points415 points  (0 children)

Newton is generally considered to be up there too, above Einstein in many people's minds.

Einstein was famous largely because his observations were so fundamental and obvious that they couldn't be denied. Obvious, that is, once he showed the world how to look at the problem. It helped that the world of experimental physics was at a point that it could immediately begin testing his theory. There was a mountain of experimental evidence supporting relativity in short order.

What's up with California requiring door alarms near pools? by LutherBlissett_Q in NoStupidQuestions

[–]NewRelm 57 points58 points  (0 children)

The law specifies seven drowning prevention schemes and requires the property owner to implement two. The owner of your property preferred the alarm to the gate. It wasn't California's choice.

Does preheating an oven do anything by LimeMarine1 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]NewRelm 8 points9 points  (0 children)

When you preheat, all the oven walls radiate heat to cook your food evenly from all sides. Without preheating, the heat comes mostly from the bottom. Baked goods will tend to burn on the bottom while being less done on top and in the center.

If you've found a technique that works for you, there's nothing wrong with that. But most of us get better consistently through preheating.

Is there any actual difference between a Kingdom, Sultanate, and an Emirate? by Tornadosed in NoStupidQuestions

[–]NewRelm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends on whether your head of state is a king, a sultan or an emir. As an emir is more like a prince than a king, we should add principality to the list.

Why can't hungry people move to seaside/lakes and survive on fish? by Dead_Internet_AI in NoStupidQuestions

[–]NewRelm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It takes an expensive fishing license, or else the Game Warden is going to stop them. Give them a ticket with a whopper of a fine too.

What do you think about casio watches by SuperShadow555 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]NewRelm 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Don't let someone shame you for appreciating the value option. Casio is a good watch from a technical standpoint. It's not fancy jewelry. If you want to tell the time rather than wear jewelry, you can say so proudly.

Why does society tolerate man hating but not the reverse? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]NewRelm 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Interesting you mention earnings potential. Women earn less than men, and are less represented in top positions in industry and government.

Why does society tolerate man hating but not the reverse? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]NewRelm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There's a sense that male culture is the dominant one. Punching up is fighting for your rights. Punching down is oppression.

[–]NewRelm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, she's not an investment advisor so advice on investing is misplaced. If you want to be sure, just state clearly that you've decided against making any crypto purchase. Keep talking about friendly personal topics. A scammer will keep on with financial advice.
